Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Tetarise – Stop this moment

Tetarise

“Stop this moment”

Kicking off the Christmas releases for 2015, I’m happy to welcome an artist that’s almost become a regular – Tetarise. With his usual high quality and high power beats, this five track EP gives us everything we expect from the artist and more.

Tetarises’ tracks are always epic and fast, verging on the trance but taking roots from IDM and electronica in their finest forms as well. What we get in Stop this moment is resounding basses and echoing arpeggios (The Inner Light), detailed and punctual beats similar to Solar Fields (In Time) and a unique mix of Indian Sitar and dance in the final track Bollywood Hero. It works!

[ZIMMER125]

Dr. SpaceKir

“The depths of Universe”

Throughout recorded history, cosmologies and cosmogonies, including scientific models, have been proposed to explain observations of the Universe. The earliest quantitative geocentric models were developed by ancient Greek philosophers and Indian philosophers. Over the centuries, more precise astronomical observations led to Nicolaus Copernicus’s heliocentric model of the Solar System and Johannes Kepler’s improvement on that model with elliptical orbits, which was eventually explained by Isaac Newton’s theory of gravity. Further observational improvements led to the realization that the Solar System is located in a galaxy composed of billions of stars, the Milky Way. It was subsequently discovered that our galaxy is just one of many. On the largest scales, it is assumed that the distribution of galaxies is uniform and the same in all directions, meaning that the Universe has neither an edge nor a center. Observations of the distribution of these galaxies and their spectral lines have led to many of the theories of modern physical cosmology. The discovery in the early 20th century that galaxies are systematically redshifted suggested that the Universe is expanding, and the discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation suggested that the Universe had a beginning. Finally, observations in the late 1990s indicated the rate of the expansion of the Universe is increasing indicating that the majority of energy is most likely in an unknown form called dark energy. The majority of mass in the universe also appears to exist in an unknown form, called dark matter.

Old Boy Inc. – Chord Memories e.p.
[SOMO005]

Old Boy Inc.

“Chord Memories e.p.”

The tracks of the Chord Memories e.p. are pendling between organic percussions, warm synthie and sizzling hihats it delivers a melancholic memory. Maybe to distract from rainy days, to wallow in thoughts. Pulsating and swirling chords rooted in summer ease combined with drums that force you to dance. The tapping beats of “Hold on” set the direction of the entire e.p. . Scapes shape up in a whirling manner, lightly swirl around that driving rhythm and let us hope for more. “Transformation” in no way inferior to the opener delivers technoid sounds, untamed, rough drums and a constantly changing synth line. “Cliché” and “At The Beach” stand out due to their drifting ease and a touch of discoish funk – especially melodical in “At The Beach”. The e.p. finishes with a great culmination: “Night Drive” which already prooved its clubability thanks to its warm house sound.

Nothing Else But Suffering – Coping Mechanisms

Nothing Else But Suffering – Coping Mechanisms

Nothing Else But Suffering

“Coping Mechanisms”

Anger will lead you nowhere, and you will realize that you’re still stuck at the very same point, unable to move on, unable to open up to new experiences. Being there will bring you nothing else but suffering indeed, especially when it comes to the wretched circle of experiences… On the other side, sometimes it’s useful to end up being completely isolated in order to re-examine beliefs and such. But when it comes to the being in the lockdown and carrying pain of something that was lost forever… you can hold on to this feeling if you like, but the better option is to realize that this never belonged to you in the first place. This is a beautiful opportunity to learn, and suffering will end inevitably when you finally get it.

Jim Black – Electro Future

Jim Black – Electro Future

Jim Black

“Electro Future”

Time for the second of the two part roots of IDM and electronica selection. First Analogue 100101 gave us some minimal techno as you’d have heard in the late 80s and early 90s, and now we welcome Jim Black back to Kahvi once again, with some superb early to late 90s inspired IDM and electronica.

Back in 1994 (for some reason this year sticks in my mind) I listened to a radio show from London called ‘The Outer Limits’ on Kiss FM. Always a great listen, showing ground breaking electronic tracks which crossed over from the rave to the more melodical electronic scene.

Jim Black is the master of early 90s sounding tracks – and here is a hand picked 10 track album (playing time just under an hour) of some really epic and amazing tracks that would have fitted right in, way back when.

Check out Digital for a real taste of 808 State-esque epicness, and Fifth Republic for a real speaker shaking bassline!

“If I Could (Alt. Version)”

And now you really want
To get this pain away so
This time your body’s old
And heart is full of shame cause you

Where’s your angel?
How could you
Lose your angel
Why do you
Lose your angel
Life is shit
There is no magic
Left for you

Listen to me
Cause If I could
Could Come back to you
I would keep you heart safe
Cause if I could
I would make you smile
I would make your life shine

You hide it in the dark
The creatures push the strangers
Does anybody know?
You’re hiding hole in your heart so

Ars Sonor – The Third Circle

Ars Sonor – The Third Circle

Ars Sonor

“The Third Circle”

Remember that short story about Buddha and the bandit? You could feel mighty because you can wound and destroy, but the real mighty ones know how to create and to heal instead. Once you cut off the branch of a tree, you cannot put it back again. Once you’ve stabbed a heart of someone loyal to you, you can’t heal it, the damage is done. The heart will heal by itself, but the scars are to remain there forever. And this is a two-way road as well… I was really reluctant to release this album because it contains the last outbursts of anger and pain I felt during second half of 2014, before my awakening process had started. Concentrated anguish of the last glimpse… of the dark night of a soul. The last glimpse of the search “without”, the beginning of the search “within”. The penultimate chapter of the long night. 4AM and the healing rain pouring on the bleeding wounds of the tree, on the broken branches scattered on the soil around. The eleventh hour, my dear sand traveler… Time to make peace with the past. Let it go with love, for you can only invite the new in your life by detaching from the old. And the new branches will grow with time… for the morning is almost here. We have so much to exchange, my friend, but look beyond the horizon, beyond this veil of painful memories…
You see it now. Everything will be alright.

“...World’s Futures”

The project is a CD which consists of recorded sounds inside the halls of the 2015 Venice Biennale. I worked on field recordings, altering things while trying to maintain a certain sense. I excluded the installations that had soundtracks, preferring those which were closer to the noise … The work is comprised of two tracks: the first track is made with the sounds of the pavilions in the Giardini, the second track with the sounds inside the environments of the Arsenale.

USIT – Jetlag Dreams

USIT – Jetlag Dreams
[SCM-1506]

USIT

“Jetlag Dreams”

USIT is the name of transcontinental duo consisting of Florida-based guitarist Jeff Duke and Sicily-based (and Sucumusic’s own) guitarist Gaetano Fontanazza.

“Jetlag Dreams” is their fourth release and the first one on Sucumusic.

The two guitar maestros are masters of electronic devices too and their music is a whirlpool where ambient, psychedelic visions and cosmic drones meet glitches and rhythms that add colours and dimensions to the whole. The working method adopted by Usit on their previous releases (“Approaching”, 2010 – “Reunion”, 2011 – “Somewhere in the Ocean of Night”, 2011) is live improvisation via Ninjam (an online protocol that allows musicians jamming together in realtime via the Internet), but for the present release each of the two men worked in their own homes, then sharing files and processing them. The result, as usual, is an astounding web of palette of sounds which flow in and out of categorization, thus pleasing and appeasing the senses of the listener.

Sometimes your self-esteem is being lowered by others to the point of complete destruction of your ego, your protective shell. You feel small, worthless, insecure and profoundly hurt. But, pain is our greatest lesson in the end, because out of pain comes the most profound growth.

Realm

“Distance”

Time for a complete change of pace on Kahvi this month. Guest artist ‘Realm’ appears to be an ambient master, and his 7 track, 55 minute album of epic tracks are created purely to allow you to drift on a sea made of glass.

Slow moving, evolving ambient passages kicked off by the fitting introduction track ‘Celestial Resonance’ leads into a little more Lackluster-esque styled track ‘Mentat’ with floating arpeggios diving into the abyss.

For this ambient fan, the epic ‘Sentinel’ is a track to switch off and kick back, in all its 10.5 minutes playing time, and ‘Self Loops and Voices’ reminds me of another ambient master at Kahvi – Curious Inversions.

Enjoy this delicate wind down after summer and watch out for another epic release next month!

“Cause and Effect”

The law of cause and effect sometimes brings certain repercussions into your own life, and you finally start to learn and grow. This song, “Cause and Effect”, became a major turning point for me back in the days, not because it’s one of the first proper songs that I created as Ars Sonor… but mainly because circumstances surrounding creative process for this song have triggered my own spiritual awakening. I’m very grateful.

Ars Sonor & Mutate

“Forward Thinking”

This collection brings together the collaborative works of programmer/producer/wunderkind Ars Sonor and processed guitar soundscaper and experimenter, Mutate. Previously scattered over albums and compilations, we finally celebrate the fruits of this collaboration in a single, solid release.

The result is a journey between landscapes of ever malleable sound. Drifting from cavernous soundscapes to minimalist beats / atmospheres, at times the guitar ‘scapes, synths and sounds all bleed into each other. Guitars snake through skittering beats, shimmering as they drift back and forth, in and out of focus. Headphones recommended.
