about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Creation

Dub-I

“Creation”

From the vast area of Siberia/Russia, a new dub sound is created. Kirill aka Dub-i has been composing and recording electronic music for the last 5 years, keeping his productions hidden from the mainstream. Inspired by the Rastafarian movement, he dares to combine the roots/reggae dub with the modern sounds of his environment, creating irie soundcsapes, pushing the dub as we know, it into new unexplored areas.

Dubophonic is proud to to have Dub-I’s “Creation” as the first release on the netlabel. The name of his album symbolizes not only the birth of our new netlabel, but also the birth of a new sound. His album “Creation”, released only in digital format, aims to lead all sound-travelers to adventurous dub journeys of experimental ambiance. Dub-I’s special vision on dub music is to fill the heart of each and every one of us with with love and peace, through the earthly vibrations and the deep musicality of his tracks.

The ten tracks, of which four are just over two minutes long, are different than the conventional style of dub, as we know it today. Nevertheless we should be proud of his musical innovations, since dub is all about experimenting.

Francesco Baiocchi – 45 minutes in hard drive through different ways

[AT039]

Francesco Baiocchi

“45 minutes in hard drive through different ways”

The album “45 minutes in hard drive through different ways” was born as a soundtrack for an audio visual installation presenata in September 2012 in Valletta, capital of Malta, during the White Night, commissioned by the Malta Council for Culture and the arts. The Maltese show of 10 hours, including a live painting on three canvases (150 x 100) mounted in a prism, some of the sets with video projection art during the concert, is an attempt to insert an unusual artistic expression in a particular context of this location of the center of the Mediterranean. The show also includes body painting and audiovisual installation from which the music of the album is about.

Avelino Saavedra – MUD

[at063]

Avelino Saavedra

“MUD”

MUD, is basically a systemic study of an instrument and its resonance capabilities. Also is the culmination of the mixture between sound processing and live improvisation with a very limited palette of sounds and effects.

As usual in Saavedra’s work one can grasp the enormous amount of time invested on developing, to get the finest results, in terms of sound. Earlier in spring, Saavedra stated (while talking about this album) that his idea was to squeeze all the capabilities of this instrument until depletion. So he did, and this is the modus operandi of Saavedra, to be able to extract the most of it of his instruments and deliver a closed-up project, without cracks, a full album, enclosed and finished.

Kayaka – Silence Walk

[zero145]

Kayaka

“Silence Walk”

KAYAKA is an experimental/ noise/ electronica composer, live performer, born in Tokyo, based in Europe (London, Berlin). She plays electronic and acoustic (bass clarinet, drums, bass guitar, gadgets …etc.) and has a unique, self-taught style of recording and composing. Her music is sometimes called “sonic surrealism”, mixed with those living-life-noise. Live sets are mostly improvised and different each time and she also collaborates with many artists from all around the world. She is a curator of an independent label, Pighole Records since 2007, where she exposes some of her releases and others’ experimental music containing some daily things freely holding onto strong and individual concepts.

This album was made in Ecuador in 2013. As I camped and walked through Amazon jungle with little belongings and thought of being away from human territory. Routine sound there was completely different from those which I was used to hear in my city life. You might need more of your concentration, but you are able to create anything you like in the field of wildness.

Track 6 “colibri” consists of recording I made in Mindo, Ecuador. It is a sound of humming birds. Quite many of them passing and stopping by a recorder I placed next to feeders. – They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings, which sometimes sounds like bees or other insects. A group of hummingbirds is called a “choir.”- Indeed, powerful vibration sound they have considering their tiny bodies.

V.A. – Celestial Matter

[ST01]

V.A.

“Celestial Matter”

Celestial Matter, the fragments of objects of any form that orbit, fly or remain still in the vast darkness of our universe, a wondrous thing when thought about, and even more amazing when you stare up at a night sky and see these objects in their luminosity. But have you heard celestial matter?

For new US netlabel Subterranean Tide’s first release this is what they have aimed and succeeded in capturing, that essence of turning one’s head to the sky and hearing the celestial bodies that flicker and shimmer as they pass one another. Presented as a compilation in reaction to a poem written by label runner Emily Loren Moss Ferrell, or the poem of the artists choosing, the constellation of ambient and experimental excursions take the listener on a journey outwards while remaining introspective. -Alex Stretton

‘Singing through the windows
of a decayed youth

divinity revealed itself

playing the strings
of a celestial matter

in measures of orchestral dust’

23RedAnts & moniKa ledesma – droning snow (in brown color)

[NN_LP040_05_13]

23RedAnts & moniKa ledesma

“droning snow (in brown color)”

Mainly based on free improvisation, 23RedAnts, a spanish duo with Macarena Montesinos and Niet F-n moves in different directions mixing noise, melody, glitch music, silences, field recordings, loops and irregular rhythms in new and surprising ways together with moniKa ledesma, an artist able to create and perform music that crosses the genres in an always original and unexpected way with long sessions that drives the listener through a contradictory and hallucinated universe made by acoustic or distorted sounds mixed with taste and attention for details.”droning snow (in brown color)” is a surreal music project, a perception of experimental drone with a series of dynamics motivated by the presence of a cello as added value and stimulus for serious electro environmental raw sounds. An execution in dark ambient style but slightly balanced by an exact experimental noise-avant-garde direction just a little bit far from the traditional dark ambient style

Pioggia d’ambra – Musick for ghosts

[SPNet112]

Pioggia d’ambra

“Musick for ghosts”

Italy’s Pioggia d’ambra is back with another collection of self-described Depressive Ambient entitled Musick for ghosts. Recorded some time ago, but never released until now, this hour-long album was inspired by a lost love and its seven tracks, in the words of the artist, “range from freakish lo-fi folk to depressive drones and noise assault.” Despite the wide swings in style, the feeling of loss is pervasive throughout Musick for ghosts. Much like a ghost itself, melodies hover vaguely in the air, more of a suggestion than a framework upon which the songs are built. Occasionally there are vocals, seemingly moaned and whispered at no one in particular, and guitar pops up here and there, sometimes clean, but more often heavily processed through several effects until it sounds like mechanical wailing. When it comes to weird production techniques, Pioggia d’ambra pulls out all the stops: reversing phrases in post-production, overdubbing atmospheric drones, and filling the album with small expressions and eccentric details that keep the most droning parts of this collection as dynamic and engaging as the busier material. Above all else, and this project has a lot going for it, this attention to detail places Pioggia d’ambra a cut above much of the netlabel dark ambient jet set, and makes Musick for ghosts a haunting and inspiring experience.

It’s definately our honor and privelege to share this 1 hour long material of outstanding intelligent electronic and trip-hop music with acoustic instrumental parts as well as subtle fx and pretty massive basslines. Zeus Scientist

“Zeus LP”

ZEUS LP is the first collection of sounds that were discovered by the Zeus Scientist Research Group, led by physicist Eric Rogers at Princeton University from 1942 until 1971. The twelve sounds which can be heard are in chronological order, dating back to the 19th century. Strange as it seems, ZEUS LP follows musical structures that were completely ahead of its time. How could these sounds be made? Who made them? And why would someone do that?
