“Na realidade Shoegaze não quer dizer nada, sendo apenas mais um facilitismo ao abrigo do qual se podem incluir várias espécies de grupos diferentes, que em comum tenham uma parede de distorção convidativa a momentos de introspecção.
Durante um período dos anos 80 e 90, assistiu-se a uma proliferação de bandas de Indie-Rock onde também poderiam caber milhares de coisas diferentes, mas que sem dúvida tiveram em comum não só o momento específico mas também a especificidade associada ao seu som. Essa marca é transportada por vários grupos até aos dias de hoje, e ainda bem porque há legados que devem prevalecer. Várias dessas bandas tinham sem dúvida afinidades quer com o Shoegaze, quer com o seu parente próximo, a Dream Pop. Mas o lugar dos rótulos é nas embalagens e o que interessa realmente é o que a música transmite, independentemente do que se escreve ou diz sobre ela.
Uma banda chamada Fire To The Stars merece pelo menos uma audição atenta, quanto mais não seja para confirmar se a música cumpre aquilo que o nome parece prometer. As estrelas quando ardem tendem a fazê-lo de forma lenta, ainda que poderosa, numa espécie de momento de agressividade melancólica.
Este single é composto por dois temas, e se por um lado “Keep You Safe” ergue uma barreira uterina de noise entre o ouvinte e o mundo, já “Wholesale Slaughter” proporciona uma contemplação nostálgica desse mesmo mundo, do qual nos encontramos alheados via experiência musical. Simultaneamente belo e fantasmagórico, como a pop deveria ser, esta edição não destoaria ao lado duns Swervedriver ou duns Ride.

This album is about the sky you can’t see from this island and the things that swim in it.

This is the first release in Linear Obsessional’s “RetroLinear” series- bringing attention missed opportunities andlost leads from the past.
This EP by the Teesside post punk band Tick Tick was recorded at Guardian Studios in County Durham in June 1980, “My Swelling Heart” was intended to be released as a follow up to the band’s 12″ EP “The Immortalisation of Tick Tick” by the expanded, more dynamic version of the band, but never got out of the can. Remastered from the original recordings “My Swelling Heart” reveals a band confidently pushing into new areas – including elements of funk, dub and world music, with startling philosophical lyrics and all underpinned by a beautifully recorded new rhythm section.

Mike Cooper played an F1 Resophonic Tri-Plate guitar / Zoom Track Sampler / Kaos Pad / Boss Pitch Shifter-Delay pedal / Top Gear Fuzz Box and Harmonica.
Yan-Chiu Leung played a variety of Sheng ( a free reed Chinese wind instrument)
Tomika is the music Tom Streller from Leipzig. He combines, electronics, indie pop vocals, chamber pop structure, and a flare of the imagination. His debut EP under Tomika is an extremely mature release. You can tell that Tom has complete control over his production techniques and instruments. Pathos Interlude is a short song based around string instruments. Fall In Springtime shares some similarities with Tunng. The Triumph Of Our Tired Eyes starts with a field recording of a thunderstorm before building into a somber folktronic piece driven by piano. The EP ends with Roots & Wings, a downtempo, heartfelt ballad for a rainy night.

This work is a tribute to the italian mercury mine of Abbadia San Salvatore. It’s an occasion to shape – both visually and musically – this “epic” element of the collective imagery and milestone of the common history of the community.
This set of paintings seeks, therefore, to harness the aura of the surreal structures, immersed in nature and witnesses the technological past rooted in the mechanics and in the flesh of workers as well.
The music goes inside the structures of the paintings and inside the feelings of the miners, creating a synaesthetic interpretation of the two artistic languages. This soundtrack has been performed live on December 4th 2011 during the vernissage of the exhibition “Acetilene – Sounds And Visions From The Belly Of The Mountain” that took place in the Museo Minerario of Abbadia San Salvatore.

* Acetylene gas lamp is a simple lamp that produces and burns acetylene which is created by the reaction of calcium carbide with water. It was used by the workers in the mines during the 20th century.
Emiliano Baiocchi is a Berlin based Italian artist who has been working for the last 10 years on developing an expressive visual language mostly through painting. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in various parts of Italy, Germany, France. His works are in private collections in USA, London, Paris, Monaco, Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin, and many Italian cities.
He uses his imagination only to design images that explore painting as a means of pure expression leading to a series of inner landscapes that showcase a singular materiality of accumulated layers of acrylic paint. In his dreamlike images, there is no pre defined intention to figurate a given narration, for he is rather interested in constructing a contrasted space where casualty and accidents are to be balanced with controlled detailed areas in order for a sense of spiritual movement to emerge. He lives and works in Berlin.

Ancient Lasers is music for fans of Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Aphex Twin, M83, The Faint, and Bright Eyes. Vocally, it shifts between a muscular Ben Gibbard and grunts worth of Trent Reznor’s macho swagger. From these juxtaposed elements, Ancient Lasers frontman, Daniel Finfer, finds a cohesive lyrical blend of futurist/transhuman/post human paranoia and optimism.

Please welcome Intoxicated Piano – a one person project, created by Oxy (Oksana Rumyantseva). You have already heard her captivating voice on Insanity13’s release Tragedy Triumph back in our catalogue. Intoxicated Piano was started in 2012 in Izhevsk, Russia and since then turned into performing act with many people joining Oxy on live concerts. Oksana is a talented multi-instrumentalist and a vocalist often collaborating with fellow musicians on their project. This EP could be described as a pensive indie pop with elements of trip-hop, strong atmosphere and sharp-cut style. You are all invited to take a bite and tell us what you think about it.
