Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Secrets Of The 45

“Verdant Peal”

“Verdant Peal”, 12th album by Secrets Of The 45 utilizes field recordings collected over two summers to create a set of summer-inspired soundscapes. Ambient, drone, noise, collage, tape music with hints of musique concrete join forces to create a diverse jungle of hazy, sweaty sonic paintings.

Birds in a forest, suburbian lawnmowers, children’s voices, murky tape experiments, children’s toys, distant conversations, prepared vocals emerging and collapsing from the sticky dark, with snippets of musical instruments – tribal drumming or swirling guitars – are sampled, looped and combined to create an effect of dense, disorienting heat much like a confusing dream during a nap in tall grass in the middle of a July day.

+LET’S DISINFECT!+ – +LET’S DISINFECT!+

+LET’S DISINFECT!+ – +LET’S DISINFECT!+
[TWG007]

+LET’S DISINFECT!+

“+LET’S DISINFECT!+”

Chiptune’s greatest and most prolific horrorpunkster ‘+Let’s Disinfect!+’ is gracing TWG with a self-titled album, three years in the making, and his usual bouts of anthemic chippunk.
Continuing our tradition of showcasing chiptune with experimental or ‘out of the ordinary’ applications, Sean Monistat, aka +Let’s Disinfect!+, produces his most diverse album yet. Whilst tracks like ‘My Life Hurts’ and the title track delve into that familiar upbeat +LD!+ sound, this debut full-length sees an expansion of Let’s Disinfect’s repertoire, drawing on post-punk sounds on ‘Melted Ice Cream’, prog metal meanderings in ‘A Garden of Mutants’ and nods to chipthrash in ‘Buy My Lawnmower!’. This all adds up to the most diverse Let’s Disinfect release to date.

As with most releases here on TWG, ‘+Let’s Disinfect!+’ is a grower, and repeat listens will let those punk pop-lined hooks dig only deeper into the brain, until every single lyric is engraved into natural impulse. And if the adhesive motifs weren’t enough, the vibrancy of textures and styles coated with that trademark ‘less-is-more’ chip (in this case DS) programming and crowd-chanting shouts of frontman Sean leave this release in the stratosphere when comparing it to vocal/chip albums of the past. From the plodding determination of ‘Contact!’ to the ferocious outburst of the title track, Let’s Disinfect! continues to cement himself as an essential forward thinker within an often saturated scene, and an extremely talented one at that.

Tracklist:
01. Contact!
02. Winter
03. Melted Ice Cream
04. My Life Hurts
05. The Case of Matsuo Fujimoto
06. Bleachbrain Zombie
07. Buy My Lawnmower!

Gozne – Transmition Machine

Gozne – Transmition Machine
[pn082]

Gozne

“Transmition Machine”

The Chilean musician Gozne this 2014 celebrated 30 years of noise. A sound that has several nuances; Circuit Bending experimentation, abandonware, real synthesizers, computers, Mac, PC, iPad, variety of plugins (in OSx, Windows, Linux) and noisy DIY aparats. Joining this results in their particular sound.

“Transmition Machine” (something like “Transmission from the machine”), robotic voice has more than his previous works, he enters a plane almost “Electro” reminding the Germans Kraftwerk, – even to the current staging of Gozne – without being a blatant copy. The sound is analog and deep, varying between 100, 110, 115 and 124 BPM. Minimalist at times, experimental in others. The voices provide spoken word, no song, just phrases that say: Time Bomb, Total Devastation, Technologic Music, Planet of Confusions and more, which provide each subject not only their title, also their particular environment and development.

The audio-visual show called “Random iLive Action” is clearly present in this work since each track was recorded as if it were a show more and only the voices were incorporated later. The random concept remains “nothing goes the same twice” and for that reason, this work can be executed again live or studio but never sound the same, keep the concept of each track, but each party shall again “Randomized” giving to each performance the same character but with different.

cátodo dúo

“al tiro”

based in chile, the cátodo dúo consists of amanda irarrázabal on double bass and ramiro molina on electric guitar. they began playing together in 2012 as a way of sharing their experiences in the field of the improvised music. built around a string concept, the duo easily moves from intense rhythmic situations to dense layers of noise. the music is totally improvised and their sound arises from treating instruments as sources of sound in every sense of the word using prepared instruments and avoiding conventional playing.

al tiro, their first album for pan y rosas discos, documents their first public performance. the sound is: chime snake swirl. metal scratch skree. quiet long note bends. physical percussion. staccato footstep notes. process vibrato. glass string flow. reverse polarities, cross streams. pierce pulse. low drone feedback string punch. objects falling down hills. black lodge bass descension glissando treble string ambiance.

Med Dred – Dred Reggae EP

Med Dred – Dred Reggae EP
[DPH004]

Med Dred

“Dred Reggae EP”

Dubophonic has turned toward Cyprus this time and to the local artists, introducing one of the most active Cypriot artists in the reggae scene. Producer & riddim maker Med Dred has always been into music, addicted from the young age of 7, a good 20+ years ago! He is one of those artists, who are passionate with their music. Studied in the United Kingdom City & Guilds (Sound Engineer), the Cypriot artist then went off to further his studies with a Bachelor’s Degree in Texas and a Master’s Degree in the UK at the Trinity Southern University. He has been refining his sound ever since.

“Reggae has always been my passion as I was brought up in Brixton and went school there so my musical influence has always been a heavy bassline on a reggae riddim. Some of my mentors are: The Scientist, King Tubby, Black Uhuru, Mad Professor, Sly & Robbie, Bob Marley, Eek a Mouse, Gregory Isaacs … and too many more Kings, not enough room here to mention! Jah Guide, Protect & Bless all.” – Med Dred

On his debut release on Dubophonic netlabel, Med Dred introduces a style that is deeply rooted in the history of reggae music. Inspired by the old dub masters and sound engineers of Jamaica, Med Dred manages to assimilate their sound and transform it into something new, either by incorporating his own custom made effects, improvising on the melodica or using his voice snippets to send out his anti-Babylon messages.

The “Dred Reggae” EP includes six tracks, dubbed and remixed by Med Dred exclusive for the Dubophonic netlabel. Heavy one drops, deep echoes and reverbs, heart pounding bass lines and conscious lyrics are the ingredients of his musical recipe. Accompanied by many guests, Med Dred creates his own personal sound, still remaining true to the original roots of reggae music.

Special participation of Ted Sirota (drums) on “Jahnoy”, Felix Dub Caravan (bass) on “Jahnoy” and “Dub-o-phonic words”, Christopher Pound and Tian (bass) on “Bal Ed Dred” and Peter Attah (vocals) on “Attah Dred”.

“Immersion LP”

Experimental bass and deep techno tracks.

Mekha provides a deep, introspective selection of tracks, working in his own dark glitchy beeped-up dub-techno style of beatmaking with a range of collaborators.

Spaceape-esque vocals from MegaZimze, dusty female focals from Snowflake and a host of far-out remixes from Dsve Hosx, The Raging Sea, Emmerichk and Plug.

This is headphone electronica at it’s most polished.

Mika Martini – Los Hanoish y otras subculturas extintas

Mika Martini – Los Hanoish y otras subculturas extintas
[pn073]

Mika Martini

“Los Hanoish y otras subculturas extintas”

By the end of 1978, a group of visual artists from USA know as The Residents published, among others, one of their masterpieces: ‘Eskimo’.

This was a conceptual album organized around a very special subject: fake folklore eskimo music (Cutler 1993).

To achieve that, the collective not only invented a tale that could base the album; a specific language variant for the ritual songs ‘recreated’ here was even delivered.

As it was expected, all of this huge frame didn’t made up anything but another one, designed to keep on laughing at, making a parody of, and comments on recurrent study objects such as: pop, publicity, big scale marketing (op. cit).

By the end of 2011, the local artist Mika Martini, grown surrounded by the visuality, give us ‘Los Hanoish y otras subculturas extintas’ (The Hanoish and other extinct subcultures), a conceptual album organized around a very unusual clue: imaginary pre-Columbian cultures.

The starting point was given at playing with Ursula Calderón’s voice (1923-2003), that, processed and manipulated, it becomes quite unrecognizable and distant about its time, telling and metal.

Martini also gives a quantum leap in respect of his previous release, ‘Mestizo’ (pn014 / 2007), abandoning the melody and danceable beat at all, to achieve the sound in its maximum amplitude and possibilities.

We’re hoping that, joined by the cold, the distance and the starting point, both works intersect in our ears, more and more each time, so they could expand our anxiety and imagination.”

Cutler, Chris: “The Residents” – File Under Popular: Theoretical and Critical Writings on Music (Autonomedia, N.Y., 1993) pp. 74-85. In spanish by Gerardo Figueroa Rodríguez.

andrea pensado – teraz, tak!

andrea pensado – teraz, tak!
[pyr074]

andrea pensado

“teraz, tak!”

andrea pensado works with sound as a performer, composer and teacher. she has been using digital media and live interactive musical systems since 1995. she studied in argentina and poland. at first she composed mainly for acoustic instruments, however, she gradually felt more attracted by different sound realms. today, the abrasive digital noise of her improvisations is far away from her earlier pieces. harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combine hybrid synthesis and sampling techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making. she currently lives in the united states.

teraz, tak!, her first album for pan y rosas, begins with a solo performance by andrea and is followed by a series of duets between andrea and the musicians: walter wright, davindar singh, adriana de los santos and alexei borisov who provide additional electronics, saxophone, piano and guitar respectively.
