Moscow school teacher Ховбай Хвекмеев (Khovbay Khvekmeev) already had appeared in duet “Райт” and avangard-improvisational collective “Стол-Стул-Стены” (Stol-Stul-Steni). He also collaborated with Pk jazz Collective on their retro album “1967-1976 The Best”. “Летающий Папа” (“Flying Father”) introduces us with his own works. There are no psychedelic motives and free-jazz passages, just only acoustic guitar and theatrical and ironic songs. Impressions of the world expressed through the little trifles.

This album is a trip back in time, to 26th of April 1986 when Chernobyl’s Nuclear Reactor Number 4 exploded, it is a tribute to liquidators of the disaster and all people involved in this tragedy, and finally it is a piece of my soul, if I have one. Album is dirty like irradiated graphite rods and heavy like Chernobylite. Proceed with caution.

After the successful release of the album Close Distance, Alic gave the track “In The Heat Of Delight” into the creative hands of Kino Oko, Frechbax and Point. Those guys put that track through the hoops and built three first class remixes.
Linear Obsessional asked the brilliant Spanish phonographer Juanjo Palacios if he would like to release something with us. The result is this exceptional one-track album – a portrait in sound of the tiny island of Ensenada de San Simón (Galacia, Spain).
“Ensenada” is a composition made entirely from field recordings of the island, and is an engrossing listen.
“…Nowadays, it is known as Isla del Pensamiento (The Island of Thought), a space where culture is encouraged and whose main aim is to attract thinkers”- Juanjo Palacios (from the sleevenotes)
Not much thought was given to how you, the listener, and your ears would fare in hearing the vocals clearly, more thought was given to how to confuse you and otherwise disorient you. Some consider hearing the vocals clearly an important factor in how they listen to their music. Good for them. Feeling the emotion in what’s being played is harder, and no one likes to do any work for what they love. They want the artists to do it for them. We never have pandered to human requests, that is: normal, natural, simple, commercial, conformist requests. We do enjoy receiving them though, the silly things. We recorded this and it was fun. Not much else can be said. It’s loud, too much so in a lot of areas, just so we could feel clever and different. The title means “To Be Or Be” in Italian, so read into it, interpret it or let it pass by just like your life has and continues to do. You’re getting this free, so take the abuse. This is The Finer Points Of Sadism after all. No synthesizer was used on this LP at all, and any synth noises heard are from circuit bent items. The 3 instrumentals on this album were all improvisations when recorded. Jacobb composed the more structured pieces on a Fender, not on paper, just through chord progressions and memory. All lead guitar and bass was improvised by Jacobb. Ashley used 3 different slides (wood, glass and steel) and a Buddha Machine on her steel guitar, in addition to various delay pedals. Jacobb recorded the sounds of car wash equipment in the mechanical room at a family owned carwash in Boise, using a handheld Tascam DR-05. He also played drums and percussion using plastic trashcans, buckets, steel ladder rungs, floors, etc. A vintage Rhythm Ace and Alesis SR-18 drum machines were used for other beats/rhythms.

“Before you embark on any path ask the question: Does this path have a heart? If the answer is no, you will know it, and then you must choose another path. The trouble is nobody asks the question; and when a man finally realizes that he has taken a path without a heart, the path is ready to kill him. At that point very few men can stop to deliberate, and leave the path. A path without a heart is never enjoyable. You have to work hard even to take it. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it.”

Almost three months ago Kai Engel released “Calls and Echoes”, an album that signalled a move towards epic trailer music with the old neoclassical approach. On new album composer went deeply in that direction. Characterized by more dramatic, cinematographic dynamics, the sound of “Deathless: The Renaissance” also incorporated ambient elements, became heavier and darker. Two months of work and nine compositions, almost screaming at you from the headphones: “We’re just made for a movie!”. Have a nice listening.

“The essential require some attention, that we come back. Where would the cosmic dimension of a story that offered a whole from the first listen? Do not let history. In time, as the rose that blooms, it will reveal its secrets.”
Daniel Rossmann, better known by his stage name Dubsynaticx, was born November 1982 in Vienna, Austria. He inherited his passion for Reggae and Dub music from his father. From an early age he was a big fan of Inner Circle, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker UB40 and many other performers from the 90th Daniel also began to discover and learn the synthesizer, drum machine, guitar and piano during his childhood. He was truly inspired by the Dub mixes of Scientist, Mad Professor, King Tubby etc.
Daniel quickly started to create his own Dub singles. As he was interested in developing his professional technical skills, he attended various sound engineering workshops and maintains to continue his improvement in sound engineering.
His first web album “Powerful Water Dub” debuted on the Internet in 2005 received a plethora of positive feedback from Reggae and Dub fans from all over the world. Two years later, in 2007, he released his first official single “Sunshine Dub”. He was involved in various projects with other great artists, among others with Madi Simmons and Sammy Gold and in 2013 Dubsynaticx launched his own Record Label “Tone-Echo Music”, under which he released in March 2014 the single “Shining Dub”.
“Studio Dubs Part 1” is Dubsynaticx’s first release on Dubophonic and is out for free download, sharing some festive Easter vibrations. Daniel Rossman’s inspiration has always been the works of the great dub masters of Jamaican music and this is clear to hear to be heard in his work. Nevertheless, he manages to add his personal tweaks through his sound engineering skills setting his own style and striking with a 10-track dub album full of vibes.
All tracks have this retro skanking dub feeling, but still sound fresh and vibrating. Whether it is due to the irieness of “Dubconscious”, the skanking guitar riddim of “Salt and Pepper Dub” or the heartikal singing of Madi Simmons on “Love Serenade”, the album succeeds in spreading those positive vibes in each and every way. The inclusion of three vocal tracks in the album and the guest appearances of Sammy Gold (properly dubbed), Madi Simmons and Goldtea, definitely adds value to an already good work worth of listening.
“I Haven’t Expressed My Feelings In Quite A While”
Back to the melting pot reactor of mindfulness, quiet music, dynamic movement onward, intimate spirit dance, peaceful demons that are now metamorphosing into beautiful dancing angels…
This LP is quite simply Emotional Generative Ambient Music that is based on my multitude of reflections on this theater of a lifetime. It is, in my perception, the perfect backdrop to my nocturnal ruminations and meditations. I feel that Wisdom’s meta-language is not growing thanks to spiritual practices or far-fetched ascetic exercises – secret and/or esoteric.. But, when one observes fearlessly unto himself and his environment, frankly and indomitably. When one observes all stimuli, multidimensional frequency receivers, voice, sound, movement, touch, smell, eyesight etc’. And this is the source of my endless moments of monumental inspiration – watching life’s events as though they were and are embryos – looking at them compassionately running somewhere, perhaps to another universe, fading away peacefully and quietly… To another dimension … The memory fades away with time, and with those changes, I sincerely feel that what we lose is far greater than what we acquire along the way…Thus, I feel that my emotionally-intense quasi-random ambient music is the purest representation of a constant present-perfect-dream-time reflection unto the very soul of the world, that is momentary at its very core.
Modal. What does it mean? Modal could be Jazz, but there’s also a Modal Logic, and there are Modal Verbs of course. But listening to the new release by Substak for Adeptlabel I actually think in Modal Fabric.
Modal is an artificial fiber. It is true that we tend to identify the artificial as something unnatural, false, but “artificial” form Latin artificiālis, which means hand-made or man-made. Art is artificial. Modal is artificial.
It’s usual to think that by means of textile fibers we could produce textile fabrics. But truth is that we could manufacture non-woven fabric. The key is how to weave the fiber. In textiles, fiber are weaved, sewed, tied; in non-woven fabric, fibers are related by means of friction, cohesion, adhesion, etc…
Modal fiber can be used to form part of woven or non-woven materials. Something similar happens with sounds. They can produce music or non-music in their mixing process. There’re rhythms and melodies in “Modal” obviously but what it’s crucially important is how the sonic fibers are fused together until reaching the bottom line.
So Modal is a non-woven musical fabric. It is a sound sheet of porous and absorbent rhythms stuck on with elastic melodies. That is the reason why Modal is highly accurate sonic fibers.
#43. Die Sendung danach. Post-Douglas-Adams, post-42,… SIe geht einen Schritt nach vorn, um dann drei Schritte zur Seite zu machen. Mal ruhig, mal betont repetitiv und laut, mal verwurmt melodisch, mal brummend und röchelnd… Viel Spaß!
