about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Tha Silent Partner

“Platters, Act 8: A Beat Plate For Pete Rock”

Exactly a year ago, Tha Silent Partner kicked off the ten year celebration of his Platters series with the release of an addition to it… A Platters Intermission: BLUNTEDSESH. Well, it’s only fitting that today he closes out the celebration with an incredible addition.

As a project that was so special to Gregory ‘TSP’ Davis’, Platters, Act 8: A Beat Plate For Pete Rock was something that had to be just right if he was going to release it. As such, it took years for it to come to fruition. Not only is it a tribute to one of his favorite producers, it’s also dedicated to his father Lloyd Davis, who instilled in TSP his love of music at an early age.

With this one TSP explores the reggae sounds of Jamaica and it’s incredibly good! So why a Reggae vibe? TSP and Pete Rock share a common Jamaican background and much of the music that his father introduced to him to was reggae.

TSP and blocSonic want to wish you Happy Holidays! Thanks for another incredible year. Enjoy this one.

Platters 8?!? It’s great to be able to continue giving fans incredible selections of music to listen to. Thanks for another one, TSP!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!

Santi – Music, the only Way Remixed

Santi – Music, the only Way Remixed
[TTR050]

Santi

“Music, the only Way Remixed”

Santi’s original “Music, the Only Way” tells a playfully dystopian story: “In a not so far away retro-future, a group of self-aware, compassionate robots have taken upon themselves the task of resolving humanity’s oldest paradox: its tendency for endless destruction and chaos despite its longing for boundless creativity and joy.

After a thorough examination of humanity’s greatest attempts and defeats, they have come to a consensus. All other previous paradigms and executions have failed. Music is the only way to save the humans”.

In this special compilation which marks the 50th release of Tropical Twista Records, five stunningly diverse producers come on board and recreate their unique renditions of Santi’s dark yet light-hearted space odyssey.

Acknowledgments: Santi extends his special thanks to Ivan Palmegiani for his tasteful curation of this compilation.

Ayato & Naoki Ishida

“Tapes Outtakes”

Ayato & Naoki Ishida have been working together via file exchange since the early 2010s. 3 years after their album “Red_control rec.played” , they offer us a split album recorded between 2015 and 2016 : Tapes Outtakes. Here, as the title suggests, the 2 artists have both worked with magnetic tapes. Ayato has used an old Revox reel-to-reel tape player to create evolving loops of various instruments, while Naoki Ishida has used other (undisclosed) methods and material. Two ways to use the tape as an instrument and tool for experimental composition.

taura yorihisa – nightfall

taura yorihisa – nightfall

taura yorihisa

“nightfall “

takasi(gravel’s end)

Tia Rungray(音楽家)

V. A. Modismo 5 – V. A. Modismo 5

V. A. Modismo 5 – V. A. Modismo 5
[M030]

V. A.

“Modismo 5”

New perspective of things can be found by raising ourselves. From a terrace, a peak or imaginary places we seek contemplation as it is our creative nutrient. Unsettling times must be confronted on the sidewalk of music production. As citizens of the world we are being witnesses of agitation related to climate change, to a rearrangement of political forces and to socioeconomic inequity among a variety of intertwined elements that cause reflection. It is a complex scenario that leads forces of similar pulsation and that seems to motivate the efforts behind the sharp response in this fifth compilation of Modismo. This compilation joins multinational talents in a wide range of styles, and as a proof of clean intentions it releases music of such depth and quality available for free. A gesture of caring kindness unites these 21 musical statements in which humanity and the plotted electro-mutant sounds dance as a reflection of upcoming storms. The overflowed pessimism, the industrial protest, the revolutionary dance and the questiong of forms have a natural room in one of the most ambitious works created by this label. For its constant commitment with risk and quality this new compilation of Modismo can be considerated as a compulsory stop at the moment of photograph the state of arts in the contemporary electronic music.

We Versus the Shark – Murmurmur
[qur017]

We Versus the Shark

“Murmurmur”

We Versus the Shark are proud to present “Murmurmur,” an ongoing collection of renditions of songs we’ve been inspired by in the past few years. Starting today, January 1st, and finishing up on December 1st 2008, each month we’ll be posting a new MP3 to Quote Unquote Records of other people’s jams. Some of the songs are by artists who have gained accolades in some circles but remain obscure in others; a few will be Athens bands we’re excited to big-up. We here at We Versus the Shark believe that “interpreting” (whatever) other artists is a good way to learn about structure, melody, and other things we’re generally confused by. Enjoy “Murmurmur.”

Onde Poussière

“del_din04”

After a web collaboration (album Imperceptible,) Onde Poussière return to free improvisation with their 4th album del_din04, made of sessions recorded on 25th and 26th september 2018. For this occasion, they once more experimented with new set-ups, this time with a focus on lo-fi sound. Doedelzak played laptop amplified with cheap computer speakers and occasionnaly flute, while Kecap Tuyul used his z(xW+yW), a low-tech modular system based on tiny battery-powered guitar amplifiers and contact microphones. Through this new change they continue to explore sonic material and techniques that are likely to cause various accidents and usually unwanted sounds, which are an essential part of the ground on which the band build its improvised soundscapes.

José Gallardo A. – Humores

José Gallardo A. – Humores
[pn137]

José Gallardo A.

“Humores”

“José Gallardo launches through Pueblo Nuevo his latest album ‘Humores‘ (pn137). Unlike his previous ‘Sinfonía para un hombre solo… en su casa‘ (pn107, 2016), which exhibits the realization of field recordings as a guiding thread, ‘Humores‘ makes reference to the moods or temperaments according to the classification of Hippocrates, considered the father of medicine. It is, thus, a kind of suite that is composed of emotional representations instead of dances.

The humoral theory, in force from Greek Antiquity until after the Renaissance, comprised four temperaments: Choleric, Phlegmatic, Melancholic and Sanguine. Each one of them was associated with an organ and with a secretion of the body (yellow bile, phlegm, black bile, and blood, respectively) and health would depend on the balance between these elements. The word ‘humor’ comes from the Latin ‘humore’ which means liquid or fluid.

As a means of opening, Gallardo adds a fifth state, that of ‘Ansiedad’ (Anxiety), where music tries to connect itself with the future from the present. This is the only track on which we hear an instrument played in a traditional way or without being deconstructed, the Saz of the Middle East, and from this material is apparently also extracted to create adjacent sounds.

Predominant in this album are rough textures, carefully agitated sounds obtained by microsampling – often treated in a granular way, and cacophonous conglomerations, almost always in counterpoint with their opposites, as in the game of resonances and punctual sounds of ‘Melancolía’ (Melancholy). The last track, ‘Sanguíneo Pasional’ (Sanguine Passional), is divided into two very clear moments, the second of them based on a calm drone that brings peace or, better, balance, to close ‘healthily’ this interesting set of music.”

Failure Circle – Frozen Clinamen #2

Failure Circle – Frozen Clinamen #2
[Eg0_193]

Failure Circle

“Frozen Clinamen #2”

Frozen Clinamen is serie of works by Failure Circle (a solo project of Kecap Tuyul) started on autumn 2017. It follows a simple method inspired by the the possibilities of his no-input mixer set-up and the will to use a limited sound material in a posteriori compositions : all the sounds included in these works are recordings of moments that feature no human intervention. Frozen Clinamen #2 was recorded and mixed between april and august 2018.

Methodology
step (1) Tweaking the set-up until it produces some seemingly autonomously self-sustained sound sequences.
step (2) Stopping tweaking and recording for at least 20 minutes without any intervention on the set-up.
step (3) Repeating steps (1) & (2) several times.
step (4) Using the generated sounds as only source in a posteriori compositions. The only variations used while mixing are equalization, panoramics and volume levels.
step (5) play it at low/high volume with open/closed window while complety asleep / fully conscious.

“Earthbound”

In Stephen Briggs’s own words, the seven tracks included in his latest effort for Sucumusic, “Earthbound”, show “the true New Zealand”.

The scenery, the emotions, the feeling, the atmosphere, the relief, the flow, the space, the sun, the sky, the glow.

His live looping and guitar playing create soundscapes which bring the term ‘psychedelic’ right into its truest meaning, that of inner revelation and expansion of conscience and mind.

Pot SIX ONNA 7 (Part 1)

Pot SIX ONNA 7 (Part 1)
[BS450041]

Pot-C

“SIX ONNA 7 (Part 1)”

Back in 2012, Tha Silent Partner took our fortyFive format and shattered its then inherent limitations by single-handedly inventing a sub-format called SIX ONNA 7 that, instead of the normal two 3 minutes tracks, contained six tracks with a running time of around 6 minutes. Thanks to TSP blessing it, since then, other artists have rolled with format and found it a unique way to share music with fans.

Today we’re happy to present to you the continuation of the SIX ONNA 7 legacy with the first installment by Pot-C! As with each artist who has explored the unique format, he has given it his own unique spin. Up until now, all SO7s have contained instrumentals. Pot-C decided to do something quite interesting with the format limitations… revisit past lyrics with new beats. An inventive take on such an already inventive format! Enjoy.

Thanks to Pot-C for taking the SO7 format to lyrical territory! Dope. Great way to revisit past lyrics with dope new beats! Of course, thanks to Tha Silent Partner for inventing the format!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do.
