Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Tick Tick

“My Swelling Heart”

This is the first release in Linear Obsessional’s “RetroLinear” series- bringing attention missed opportunities andlost leads from the past.

This EP by the Teesside post punk band Tick Tick was recorded at Guardian Studios in County Durham in June 1980, “My Swelling Heart” was intended to be released as a follow up to the band’s 12″ EP “The Immortalisation of Tick Tick” by the expanded, more dynamic version of the band, but never got out of the can. Remastered from the original recordings “My Swelling Heart” reveals a band confidently pushing into new areas – including elements of funk, dub and world music, with startling philosophical lyrics and all underpinned by a beautifully recorded new rhythm section.

Mood481

“Nothing to Fear”

Nothing to Fear is the 8th Mood481 album, composed and produced entirely on a pair of iPads.

Nothing to Fear brought a marked departure from the space-themed ambient compositions of previous Mood481 albums, moving into the realm of abstract, dark ambient exploration that has become the cornerstone of Mood481’s sound. Like many previous works, the majority of the tracks on Nothing to Fear find their genesis in algorithmic and physics-based generative composition techniques.

Cryptic Mao

“Second”

Artist : Cryptic Mao
Title : Second
Catalog # : TXR058
Duration : 41:42
Date of release : November 06, 2013
Genres : dark ambient, drone, noise
Format : digital (FLAC and MP3)
This is the second independent release from France’s drones creator after a multi-year hiatus, and while it offers no surprises, Second still yields plenty of satisfaction. It may seem strange to categorize an album of noise-tinged drone as “dark ambient” but Cryptic Mao has been working for several years now, and it continues to perfect what has become a well-established musical recipe: sweeping synthetic and electroacoustic sounds, slowly moving frequencies, distant pulsating noises. Each element is here to construct a description of a pure mental landscape.

Viv Corringham

“Gum + Butts”

Linear Obsessional is delighted to present a new solo album by the British vocalist Viv Corringham. On “Gum and Butts” Viv returns to London (she’s now based in New York) and records in 6 unique sonic spaces, responding and reacting to the environment in real time. The result is a spellbinding mix of evocative field recordings and dazzling, “extended technique” vocalising. .

released 20 October 2013
Notes-
This is a collection of live vocal improvisations with the city. They combine three activities I enjoy: wandering around London, listening to city sounds, and improvised singing. To make one of these works, I simply start to walk and record.

In 2002 some recordings I had made in this way were broadcast on London’s Resonance fm radio as a weekly series called Vocal Strolls. Richard Sanderson was splendidly enthusiastic about them at the time and has invited me to create a new collection for this album.

These works were all made on a visit from my new home in USA back to London in March and September 2013. It has been a great (and slightly nostalgic) pleasure to re-tread old walks and also to find new ones.

Cellar Dweller

“Monochrome Rainbow”

Monochrome Rainbow is Cellar Dweller’s first full length album. Marrying interests in drone and noise with the darker side of melodic techno hinted at in his Origami EP, it ranges from improvisational process pieces to tracks suitable for a cold warehouse dance floor. Drawing as much influence from poetry and pattern art as it does from musical reference points ranging from Messiaen to Basic Channel, it presents a rewarding if disconcerting listening experience.

“In memory of A.Strelnikoff”

The great musician, producer, DJ, poet, founder and director of the netlabel DRILL RECORDS, spiritual teacher Alexander Strelnikoff passed away a year ago. His musical projects NK72, BINA, ELLAIM, HESYCHIA, MECHANICAL SHAMAN and numerous collaborations with Russian and foreign musicians ever take their place in the history of modern experimental music of Russia.

Alexander has played a key role in the development of DISSOUND. We have worked closely through Strelnikoff. During all the time of our work together a lot of musical material have accumulated; some of them wasn’t included in our previous releases for various reasons: unreleased tracks DISSOUND, Strelnikoff’s remixes, collaborations between DISSOUND and NK72.

«In memory of A.Strelnikoff» is a compilation of unreleased tracks. However, this is not just a compilation, but the full-length album. The album, which we would like to devote to the outstanding person — Alexander Strelnikoff. Eternal memory!
