Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. THE WEB – monoton I
[DAST EXTRA 01]

THE WEB

“monoton I”

…IN 1994 WAS BORN THE SPIRIT OF “monoton”! ONLY 14 YEARS LATER FOLLOWED HER SOUL! AND NOW IT GETS THE BODY…, THE CREATOR “THE WEB” TELLS US ABOUT THE HISTORY, ORIGINS AND BACKGROUNDS, TO HIS GREAT WORK…

The “monoton” series were created between october 2008 and april 2009. All tracks follow the same principle: They are all basedon a central audio track with sounds from a famous vintage analogsynthesizer – the Korg MS-10. I extracted these sounds from a tapedating back to 1994/95.

THE WEB: “Once on a saturday in late summer 1994 there was one of these flea marketsin my home town Winterthur. I was in the pub when a colleague bustedin, came straight to me and excitedly asked me if I knewwhat a Korg MS-10 is and if I wanted to buy one – if yes I would haveto hurry because he found one at a stand of the flea market, for only300 bucks (Swiss Franks)! Although back then I was only DJing fromtime to time, but was not doing my own music, had no drum machinesand other equipment, I knew this was a golden opportunity I shouldn’tpass up – techno and house music had become popular and the pricesfor old analog synths nobody was interested in a few years ago hadrisen to astronomical levels. So I immediately went out to the standand bought this vintage device. Back home, I explored the sounds ofit in depth, also because I had no other instrument that competed forattention. I experimented with the patch cords and tried everyconnection. “Sick and industrial sounds and lots of dirt iswhat the MS can do at it’s best” (www.sequencer.de) – oh yes, that’s exactly what I like. Everytime I had found a sound that Iliked I recorded a few minutes of it on tape. Since I always wantedto do my own electronic music tracks but back then couldn’t affordthe equipment I decided to give the Korg MS-10 to my friend Sauri, former DJ from Winterthur (DJ Das Sausen) and drummer of the band”men from s.p.e.c.t.r.e” (superb instrumental music! -visit www.men-from-spectre.org).

Thankgod I had recorded this tape – finally, 14 years later I was able touse this stuff for my own electronic music tracks. After I made the Freeze!-seriesand a few inofficial remixes of oldies-but-goldies from the 80ies (REMIXED)I wanted to do something more “raw”, stripped down, classictechno, so this old Korg MS-10 tape was very wellcome. I used thesounds on it as a basis for the tracks (definig theme/mood, suitablebeat and speed), added one or two drummachines, an additional synth-or bassline or a few effects – and that was it. Since the Korg MS-10is monophonic I used the working title “monoton” for thisseries of tracks.

Thetracks on “monoton I” vary from oldschool technohouseacid-like style (monoton5 – doppelstern),wavy rocking breakbeat (waveroller)and even friendly downtempo (cleanup)to raw industrial machine beat (alientank). In monotonX there’sno drummachine, all the drum sounds came from Korg MS-10.

“monotonII” contains alternative versions of several tracks from”monoton I”; the tracks are renamed so that the original aswell as the new version are visible. alientank forexample grew to alientanks in the storm,a three part version with one tank in the beginning and another onereturning to the windy, empty battlefield (middle part) at the end. Apeculiar element in several tracks here is the different tempo of thebeat while keeping the original tempo of the Korg MS-10 sound track,in a ratio 4:3 (pulsatingsource of radio, little jumper, planet easy). In planeteasy sucha change in tempo occurs in the middle of the track, deviding it ina livingslow anda livingfast part.In the spacy quasi-stellarradio source, the effect of slowing down is reached by a 3/4 echo-effect anda differentbeat – the tempo remains the same as in the 4/4-trance-styleoriginal monoton6 – quasar.”

Marta Zapparoli – Codex

Marta Zapparoli

“Codex”

I always draw my inspiration from the narratives and metaphors of a variety of impacts from different locations and situations.

These are often quite unique experiences within a certain period of time, landscape or corner of society.

Last year during several trips, I did many different recordings in East Europa. During my research on land, I found special places with particular energies. For example : unpredictable movements, defective technology, misplaced animals, dis-punctuality, unforeseen natural sound effects or other cataclysms of nature and unforeseen cataclysms in Humans.

The idea of this release is a deep construction, cut up, manipulation and deconstruction on many layer of these recordings, decontextualized from their origin, creating an absurd and surreal landscape in codex.

The technical part is done with field recordings on tape-recorders mixed, converted on digital software for mastering.

Marta Zapparoli aka Penelopex :
sound artist, performer, musician, studied fine arts and the soproano saxophone. In Bologna/Italy being involved in a series of experimental radio shows, multmedia performances, sound installations and various dance companies and aswell experimental multimedia theater events.

She now lives in Berlin where she is part of the Splitter Orchester Berlin, collaborating on sound installations with Martin Kuentz and a duo project with Alessandra Eramo next to her ongoing solo project.

The last decade she creates strong narrative sonic pieces using a open variety of recording techniques and custom analog tools as well as found instruments and objects.

Her sonic explorations bridging together the sensual quality of field recordings and versatile processing of live electronics. Within environmental phenomena, acoustic ecology, noise pollution, focusing on sonic narratives & human emotions through decomposition and real-time tape manipulation, sounds that are considered non-musical or overheard.

She Releasesd several albums on Umbrella Noise records, Idiosyncratics records, Nohmad records and Zeromoon records. She was also extensively featured WDR3 open studio elektronische musik, and a variety of experimental radio broadcasts.

“Journey To The Centre Of Your Mind”

c4 has been dubbed as “the lone Raver”,
(a parady of the Lone Ranger)
playing live-sets with no-one other
than himself, at various abandoned
warehouses in the dangerous districts
of Toledo, late into the night. armed with
only coffee and his Korg EMX-1,
it is rumored these sets have
converted a few back to
believing in old-school acid techno
once again.

Honoré Feraille – au sud,

Honoré Feraille – au sud,

Honoré Feraille

“au sud,”

Honoré Feraille is another new artist moniker for Geneva, Switzerland based experimental noise artist Laurent Peter. He records under a collection of different aliases and through several different projects including Diatribes, Heu{s-k}ach, Karst and perhaps the more familiar solo production pseudonym D’incise.

The first official excursion for this new project from an already well established artist is Au Sud, presented here on Audio Gourmet.
Here, the work of Honoré Feraille delves through the sorts of deep, dark and dense drone tapestries that have won the artist so much acclaim via the likes of D’Incise and his other collaborative projects.
As you would expect, the detail and sounds that comprise Au Sud, are meticulously constructed and unfurl carefully over the short duration of this two piece EP. Little more is specified as the artist allows the sounds to wander without purpose, free from order, structure and design

“Six Bits Of Black Broken Glass”

This thing – nobody knows what it was or where it came from – fell down right in front of me and broke. Now the pieces reflect what’s around …

There is a tree and me,
things afire while others aspire,
carbon and pain,
concrete and gain,
life and death and relentlessness.

The Plastic Jazz Orchestra – 39°

The Plastic Jazz Orchestra – 39°
[hpcd096]

The Plastic Jazz Orchestra

“39°”

“When talking about music with people, for saying things like “this beat is taken from …” i often get replys like: “yeah maybe, but i like it anyways.” If there wouldn’t be these “but, anyways” i’d be fine with it. We’re all stuck in the 18th century mentally. In the Middle Ages “componere” still had the original meaning of “to enclose”. It was taken for granted to derive new chorales from older ones. Usually parts of such compounds were composed but not completely new works. Whole works were crafted (=facere) which is a facile idea of mechanic humility, something we should care about.”
(Bernd Burnson)

The Plastic Jazz Orchestra was formed by Bernd Burnson in late 2006 as an ensemble electronique for modern music. Tragically Bernd Burnson passed away in summer 2007 and left behind a bunch of young people determined to create something completely different, something new in terms of musical expression. So the tracks from ’39°’ by The Plastic Jazz Orchestra had never been compositions in their origins but handcrafted pieces of what we call music.

“Bad Form”

A lot of Fature’s fifth album pays tribute to the pioneers of the West London and Broken Beat music scene and is heavily influenced by artists like Domu, 4Hero and Mr Scruff. “Bad Form” takes on a more stylistic and jazzy approach to his previous albums but also has sprinkles of Ambient and Drum ‘n Bass to exhibit his many talents.
