about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Awkward Geisha

“Shadows of the Shepherds: A Brief Retrospective of 2017 Works”

This album is a collection of works from the Awkward Geisha 2017 repetoire. Call it a sampler if you wish. Call it a ‘best of’. Call it art.

Awkward Geisha is a free improvisation ensemble with legs firmly lodged in the avant garde and dada movements.
Members of the ensemble vary from song to song.
The ensemble was put together by Harsh Noise Movement in 2016 as a reaction to the mundane and tedious sounds that insult the eardrums on a daily basis.

On this collection, Awkward Geisha is:
HNM. Eric Jovet. Ludwig Dementgenstein. Gaitoh. Ghostskull. Akano Shibahito. Gimp Gash. Tim Kai. Kryptek.

All songs written by Awkward Geisha except Hellhound on my Trail, written by Robert Johnson.
All songs produced, mixed & arranged by HNM.

Front and back cover art by Cierra Rowe.

MODELBAU – augsburg, germany, 02.12.2017

MODELBAU

“augsburg, germany, 02.12.2017”

live @ re:flexions – silent series ° Ganze Bäckerei, Augsburg, 02.12.17

This is not a live recording and yet it also is. Part of this concert was ‘semi-acoustic’, not going over the sound system, but using separate smaller speakers and radio speakers. The audience was asked to do a recording on whatever means they had with them, which turned out to be harddisc recorders, camera and mobile phone. All of the ones I received afterwards were used to create the music you are hearing, a collage of various recordings from various points in this space. So its live and not really. I mixed it but did not really edit, as in taking out the ‘bad parts’, it.

Today, he kicks off the year long celebration with the first of four releases that’s set to drop each quarter this year! With a title like Touchin’ Gummy Bears Inappropriately: The beattape that was playing while your aunty was getting her pums smashed to bits, you have to know that this isn’t safe for work… and probably not safe for the young and people with heart conditions, too! However… it’s DOPE, so you should not sleep.

As always, many thanks goes out to Tha Silent Partner for delivering the funk!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. BroodingSideOfMadness and Melophobia – Serpent Noir ΚΑΔΜΟΣ / Serpent Rouge ΑΡΜΟΝΙΑ

[ET119]

BroodingSideOfMadness and Melophobia

“Serpent Noir ΚΑΔΜΟΣ / Serpent Rouge ΑΡΜΟΝΙΑ”

melophobia comes from Greece. He likes to experiment with long noise and drone sounds intermingled with field recordings and acoustic sounds. melophobia is heavily influenced by contemporary artists such as Merzbow and early ’90s shoegaze scene. He is active with his ultra-limited releases of his 3″/5″ CDr label ‘illicit-tapes’. He cherishes the piles of his priceless jap noise C-xx tapes and obscure vinyls.

BroodingSideOfMadness is interested in phonemes, graph theory, realism and any dystopian ambiance. He seeks for the generative element in his tracks. He is the founder of Etched Traumas netlabel.

“Goodnight Graffiti Soundtrack”

Thematic return to the past. These are the words which characterize the fortieth release of the publishing house. It is a reference to a younger “sibling” ArtAttack in a form of a graffiti document depicting “train bombing” in different parts of world (Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Austria and Great Britain). It is also a compilation of songs created especially for particular events connecting multiple producers.

Pirata – En el aire estoy

[M26]

Pirata

“En el aire estoy”

Review
Pirata – En el aire estoy

Antonio Díaz better known as Pirate, is an electronic music producer who lives in Los Lagos, Chile, and who has always been bound to sounds more ambient, IDM, minimal and dub, is now presenting a surprising EP called ‘En el aire estoy’. The journey starts with the track ‘El Pantano Invisible’ with ambient and minimal surrounding noises, a marked bass drum and several reminiscences of the English electronic sounds of the 90’s such as those of F.S.O.L. or The Orb but at the same time maintaining the originality of the sound that distinguishes us. The second track, that gives name to the EP, includes more atmospheric sounds and a beat closer to IDM. With this track, Pirata shows his exponential growth through complete command of softwares and machines he uses to compose. Moving forward to the next song “Espacio On”, we find a galloping beat with atmospheres and a profound sample similar to a mantra. Later we run into ‘Galeno’ in which Pirata shows clear influences of the German electronic sound of the 80’s. The following song is ‘Imperio Lúdico’. In this one, Pirata, who won the French prize ‘Qwartz Electronic Music’ in 2009 under the category ‘Discovery’, comes back to calmer and more ambient sounds with voices that weave together and glitch sounds that always characterize his music. Finishing this trip with ‘Imperio Lúdico’, Pirata invites us to explore in his EP ‘En el aire estoy’ diverse sounds, influences and an extremely high-level production that has allowed him to position himself as one of the most remarkable exponents of the national electronic music.

OOAME – Milanese Nwas

[AT056]

OOAME

“Milanese Nwas”

Milanese Nwas is the sound of weightless bytes, carefully weaved to accompany the listener into a realm of self-generated paradoxical melodies. It’s music freed from the heaviness of pulse, liberated from the dictatorship of sequences and the weight of measurement.

Each track lives, like insects and plants, as if autonomous agents of a digital biosphere taken control of the computer and created a collection of aural epiphanies.

Working with custom designed softwares and advanced digital synthesis techniques, OOAME builds a self evolving micro-world of augmented harmonies in which the composer’s will acts as a mean of observation, rather than control, focusing on details of a larger and everchanging autonomous process.

Delicacy and fragility merge with pulverized melodies, fractional phrases and quasi conscious noise bursts, giving life to the Nwas concept (“noise” pronounced in French). Milanese Nwas is an experimental act of investigation of self-organizing art, searching for emotion and poetry in the silicon mind: a journey in the beauties of an impalpable artificial wildlife.

Wankers United – Polygon Soup

[D!HR-35]

Wankers United

“Polygon Soup”

For its 35th release, Da ! Heard It Records plunges your head into a broth of funk ideas.

A shark fin floats in Wankers United’s polygon soup. Out from the depths, the creature imagined by Elise Kobisch-Miana that illustrates this new album seems to be attracted by the surface after a very long sleep. Truth be told, in this new production, both references and fresh ideas abound.
Great master of skweee in France through his label Mazout, Thomas Lanza has always had a taste for electronic kludges and syncopated rhythms, which were inherited from his hip hop background. After trying his hand at this style on a number of compilations, he released his first album on American label Ausland in 2017 and serves it again with Da ! Heard It Records with a series of pieces as the pièce de résistance.

In the kitchen, one finds with pleasure everything that gives his usual productions their charm, but prepared here with the desire to respect traditions. Immersed in a bath of acid and electro old school, the ingredients of this elaborate recipe will remind sensitive music lovers of the original flavors, somewhere between Cybotron and the beautiful hours of the Warp label. The result, beyond the skweee that he regularly cooks up, rather leans towards a playful IDM that was rid of the superfluous.

Developing the evolution of the sound arrangements with precision throughout the pieces, Thomas leaves no room for chance in his joyous blend, and he demonstrates that, over the course of more than fifteen years, he has acquired solid experience in the field. No stranger to Luke Vibert, whose influence is obvious here, he nevertheless spices up his melodies with a lovely oriental touch and yet shows, if more showing was needed, that life is good in Saint-Ouen.
