about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Robot Speaker – Plasmatica

Robot Speaker – Plasmatica
[KOF #344]

Robot Speaker

“Plasmatica”

A hazy 40-minute mind-altering, mood shifting amalgamation of sound. “Plasmatica” is a fuzzy, distorted OST recovered from the rom file of a cancelled japan only Super Famicom title that doesn’t exist. It’s funky, soulful and scratchy with breakbeats and sample work. It all sounds very “classic” in a way that’s hard to explain. When I hear Takuma’s music It feels like deja vu. Not just like I’ve heard it before but almost as if I should already have it memorized.

Various Artists – 2020 Compilation

Various Artists – 2020 Compilation

Various Artists

“2020 Compilation”

We round off a disturbing year to say the least with a new edition of the annual Atomnation compilation series. Across 10 essential tracks, this year’s selections touch on some of the best music released in the last 12 months as well as serving up some new tracks. Exclusive to download for free on Bandcamp for the next few days. Thank you for your support, stay safe all and take care of each other.

The exclusives on this year’s collection include ‘Off The Ground’ from Sky Civilian, the New Mexico artist who spans many musical worlds from pop to house to techno. Her track is a gorgeous ambient and classical fusion that washes over you like a dream. Another exclusive comes from dark disco innovators Bufi and the Mordisco duo, who between them have credits on labels like My Favorite Robot and Duro. Their ‘Los Pilares’ is a rugged, textured chugger with slapping hits and pixelated cosmic leads.

Leonardo Di Fiore aka NOCUI is a new Italian composer, producer, and sound designer whose exclusive ‘All Night’ is a breezy deep house groove with machine made soul and heart warming chords from the future. Lastly for the exclusives, Dutch duo Polynation are known for improvisational, spontaneous dynamic live performances. They capture that here with a freeform and jazzy synth style as they carry you away to the heavens on shimmering breakbeats with ‘Humming’.

Elsewhere, Applescal serves up the supple and melodic deep techno of ‘Cymbals Rush’, which is taken from his Diamond Skies album back in May, while Gidge also serve up ‘New Light’, a track taken from their album of the same name and one that is awash with heavenly vocal chants, melancholic chords and expansive post-pop beats. Add in tried and tested favourites from Millio, David Douglas, Sam Goku and boys be kko and you have another well-sequenced journey through many shades of electronic music that are all united by emotive feelings and great craft.

Luka Prinčič – ark/d, amorphic

Luka Prinčič

“ark/d, amorphic”

“an uninterrupted journey of purely computer music, which moves through diverse sonic fields and eavesdrops on the darker aspects of contemporary human condition”

The newest work by the Slovenian intermedia artist Luka Prinčič, the continued piece ark/d, amorphic is somewhat minimal, but a complex composition and an example of computer music in the new decade. With SuperCollider and computer programming Prinčič has managed to use various sound-generating algorithms to form a lengthy non-linear sound story. Searching for the amorphousness in the absence of form, he programmed the sound generators and transformations using the programming language like a loom, sewing the code into repetitive pulsations and ambiental scenery that eavesdrops on the darker aspects of contemporary human condition.

Deliberately in small initials, the title ark/d, amorphic alludes to a minority philosophy that seeks a world in the shadows of the spectacle and activates against the domination of the majority and the megalomania of post-objectification.

Roy Guzman – Logica Axiomatica

Roy Guzman – Logica Axiomatica

Roy Guzman

“Logica Axiomatica”

Roy F GuzmanAlgorithmic and instrumental electronic music composer, improviser, and poet born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on June 28, 1987. His previous and current research topics are chaos theory for structural musical material, abstraction as a subject worked through the instrumental interpretation of sound scoresusing them as a metaphor of the perception of all reality, resilience, the authentic limitations of systems, non-duality, aximoms of conceptual and phisical objects, geometrical abstract forms in musical structuresand the study and formalization of the reading action of non traditional scoresand the expansion of the musical parametrizationandconstructs.Recently he explores Meta Composition where the metaphysicsand physics are affected by thestructuresand objectsof compositional forms, symbols and texts. He created Concrete Multi Semiotic Poetry where synchronous and asynchronous multi semioticism is explored and Integral Poetry where a semiotic color is explored as an integral of a multi semioticism of a universal and popular gestalt. He also investigates and creates deductions about the metaphysics of ancestral Latin American spirituality and its axiomatic potential and abstract development for the creation of new constructs and philosophies that have the potential to alter the perceptual reality and metaphysical or spiritual space.

Lógica AxiomáticaThis series of piecesdeals with the concept of Axiomatic Logic. It is a synthesis of two philosophical conceptsand its lay definitions: Axioms and Logic. The intention of thisconceptual musical work is to dive into the essence of geometrical structuresinthis case the square, the triangle and the circleand to dive into a higher level of the abstract ethereal space were the macroscopic view or meta-scopic conceptLogic reignsin the semiotic field. Logic is taken here as the material that allows information to be generatedor understood. This would be the essential elements that allow the decoding of information generated through logical associations or logical structures therefor the word Logic. In my examination and proposition of this ethereal abstract space the totality of the material individually as particulars exists in the lower levelsand the logos or objects, conceptual substances growsin power and abundance as the word or logos encompassin its definition a range of the totality from below. There are certain concepts and words that tend to surpasstaxonomically the semiotic totality like the word or field of Logic were actions of structuring material in order to create truths and information that are relative truths are done. We can associate this as the highestlevel of control of the semiotic whole in a hierarchicallyorganized ethereal space were the popular universal gestalt reignsbeing the colors the most higherform, then followingthe asemic forms, symbols and structures and then follows the language where Logic and Algorithmic meta control reigns. The word Axiom here is used to state that I am using the essence of this geometrical simplistic and powerful forms elaborated on a simple minimalsemiotic sound as a clickwhichstates mainly proportional forms in the duration of the musical eventswhich are taken as the axiomatic color in sound of these geometrical structures.

sin-título[10-27-20]This work is part of a series of work named untitled or sin-título[date] were I am focusing on pure abstract forms in sound and music. In this piece I tend to stand conceptually with amthe ideathat sounds and music are a-symbolicphenomenological substances and that this art of sounds should be perceivedwith a synthesis of a concrete, primitive, eideticandexperiential consciousnessin order to enjoy the pure forms, the tension and release, without the confusionand obstruction of semiotics.

we stand in unequivocal solidarity with black americans begging for their FULL liberation.

violence happens against humans, animals, the earth. not property. looting & vandalism ARE non-violent protest. burn down the symbology of oppression—this is a powerful gesture. don’t compare it to the loss of life by using the word “violent.”

we are committed to listening, learning, & using our voice to help fight for the change that is so desperately needed in this country.

entropija – genealogija B: 2016-2018

entropija – genealogija B: 2016-2018
[EEM060]

entropija

“genealogija B: 2016-2018”

Continuing on from “genealogija A”, this is the second instalment of a retrospective collection. Including sounds from even before the start of entropija project, the album timeline spans almost 2 years, between August 2016 and June 2018. In contrast to previous album‘s colorful dynamics, this is a document of a more abstract side of entropija‘s performative spectrum. Clusters and bits of sound engage in complex interactions, trying to morph into a cohesive body, but the form seems to escape each time just before solidifying. Hints of order or harmony are quickly overwhelmed, and by the end, completely buried under layers of intersecting accidents. If there was a genre label suitable for this record, “liquid noise” would probably be it.

Pedro Maras – Tipping Point

Pedro Maras – Tipping Point
[mhrk261]

Pedro Maras

“Tipping Point”

“The IPCC AR5 defines a tipping point as an irreversible change in the climate system. It states that the precise levels of climate change sufficient to trigger a tipping point remain uncertain, but that the risk associated with crossing multiple tipping points increases with rising temperature.

In the context of climate change, an “adaptation tipping point” has been defined as “the threshold value or specific boundary condition where ecological, technical, economic, spatial or socially acceptable limits are exceeded.

Tipping point behaviour in the climate can also be described in mathematical terms. Tipping points are then seen as any type of bifurcation with hysteresis. Hysteresis is the dependence of the state of a system on its history. For instance, depending on how warm and cold it was in the past, there can be differing amounts of ice present on the poles at the same concentration of greenhouse gases or temperature

In a study inspired by “mathematical and statistical approaches to climate modelling and prediction”, the authors identify three types of tipping points in open systems such as the climate system – bifurcation, noise-induced and rate-dependent. The idea of tipping points in climate science, as indicated by palaeoclimate data and global climate models, suggest that the “climate system may abruptly ‘tip’ from one regime to another in a comparatively short time.

Bifurcation-induced tipping refers to changes in dynamical systems that occur when a small smooth change made to bifurcation parameters of the system causes an abrupt or sudden topological change in the behavior of the system. In the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), slow passage to the bifurcation parameters – the salinity, temperature and density of water – could cause the AMOC to abruptly collapse when it reaches a critical tipping point. Currents of warm, seawater in the upper layers of the Atlantic flow north, while currents of colder, deep waters from the North Atlantic flow south, like a conveyor belt known as thermohaline circulation. Downwelling occurs when the warmer, higher-density seawater accumulates and sinks beneath the colder, lower density less saline water from glacier melt. An AMOC collapse would occur if downwelling was inhibited . [critical slowing down] (CSD) “occurs because a restoring feedback is weakening as a bifurcation-type tipping point is approached.

Noise-induced tipping refers to transitions due to random fluctuations or internal variability of the system, as in the Dansgaard-Oeschger events during the last glacial period, with 25 occurrences of rapid climate fluctuations.

Rate-induced tipping occurs in an “excitable system” – such as peatlands – when one of the systems parameters is “ramped” through a “steady, slow and monotonic change” eliciting a “large excitable response”. In the case of peatlands, the rate-induced tipping point results in an “explosive release of soil carbon from peatlands into the atmosphere” – “compost bomb instability”.”

Marcelo Espindola – De un tiempo a esta parte

Marcelo Espindola – De un tiempo a esta parte

Marcelo Espindola

“De un tiempo a esta parte”

The confluence of sound textures and the use of loops in the classic way of musique concrète are found in this long-playing music, an acousmatic bet by Marcelo Espíndola, who has long experience in this art. With a large musical background, Espíndola who is a percussionist and moves between contemporary music and funk, displays high claritypercussion sounds and spaces of various kinds through maintained materials(according to Schaeffer’s terminology). Timbre, its variations and its positioning in space through reverberation and location in the stereo panorama, enrich the sonic whole. Synthesis and sampling come together in a mixture of detailed sound craft that forms a journey that transits between the contemplative and an organic or a mechanical drive, all according to the type of repetitions and exposed materials.
