about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Tick Tick

“My Swelling Heart”

This is the first release in Linear Obsessional’s “RetroLinear” series- bringing attention missed opportunities andlost leads from the past.

This EP by the Teesside post punk band Tick Tick was recorded at Guardian Studios in County Durham in June 1980, “My Swelling Heart” was intended to be released as a follow up to the band’s 12″ EP “The Immortalisation of Tick Tick” by the expanded, more dynamic version of the band, but never got out of the can. Savvas Metaxas – Entropic

Savvas Metaxas – Entropic
PAN 080

Savvas Metaxas

“Entropic”

Entropic was recorded during a long period of dysphoria, dyspnea, and anxiety. These feelings are the canvas where the music begins, evolves, and come to an end. It is a soundtrack of days marking the closure, the relief, and the faith. It sets the end and the beginning. It is hated and loved at the same time. It is emotional music from the brink of darkness.
Notes

These recordings are based on the use of analog semi-modular synthesizers, analog sequencer, recordings of found sounds, vinyl samples.

All tracks written and produced by Savvas Metaxas. Mastering by Yannis Tsirikoglou. Cover photo by Nikos Kostopoulos.

Mood481

“Nothing to Fear”

Nothing to Fear is the 8th Mood481 album, composed and produced entirely on a pair of iPads.

Nothing to Fear brought a marked departure from the space-themed ambient compositions of previous Mood481 albums, moving into the realm of abstract, dark ambient exploration that has become the cornerstone of Mood481’s sound. Like many previous works, the majority of the tracks on Nothing to Fear find their genesis in algorithmic and physics-based generative composition techniques.

Gimu – Alien Ancestry

Gimu

“Alien Ancestry”

And within a few moments of a tormented solitude
a following occurs of the most tranquil stability
resting sweetly again in the arms of an endurance
of an adored vulnerability lined with silk

~Emily Loren Moss Ferrell

“Brazilian artist Gilmar Monte (Gimu) brings us a thick, swirling ambient work; a slowly constricting disquieted journey through vast, chilly ruins.

Densely layered drones and crackling textures suggest a desolate, windswept world, long since abandoned to the elements. As heavy, sullen clouds roll away from the iron skies, static-filled choirs sing mournful hymns of remembrance.

Fiercely burning stars and northern lights play across the dark majesty of the heavens, accompanied by pulsating synthesizers and eerie, muted alien voices. Relentless tides of hissing, foaming instruments beat fitfully against decaying cliffs, then reluctantly fade away; dissonant echoes of what once was, and may yet be again.”

Former Descent

“The State Of In-Between”

Former Descent is the new Electronica project of Bas Welling, best known for previous works under the names Neurobit, R10T33R and Rioteer. Bas Welling created loads of chaos the past few years with his label Crackbeats wich has a focus on the extreme side of Breakcore, Noise and Digital hardcore. Some might know him as Neurobit who released quit some 8 bit mayhem on labels like Enfant Terrible and Retinascan. But he is also known as a producer and remixer for artists like Ra-X, The C64 Orchestra, Deathmaker, Meldy Peaches and Maurizio Bianchi. With Former Descent his music goes in a new direction, with strong influences by his aliases.

After releasing the debut 12inch “My life in the box of ghosts” on Shipwrec Records and recording a track for the soundtrack of the movie “Exploitation” by director Edwin Brienen, Former Descent is back with his first digital EP. “The State Of In-Between” contains 5 personal ambient tracks all recorded with a Yamaha Tenori-On between the 24th and the 28th of January 2013.

Gab Pearson – Free Sprite

Gab Pearson – Free Sprite
TWG010

Gab Pearson

“Free Sprite”

Continuing our crusade against explainable styles and the comprehensible, we here at TWG are incredibly proud to throw this chunk of jaunty and experimental swing-laden gold at you.

Mixing inexplicably catchy phrases with hugely emotive tonal tapestries and a healthy spooning of the esoteric, Gab Pearson exudes subtle and eclectic mastery. Sounding like a jazz-fuelled romp through polka, Russia, and hip-hop, ‘Free Sprite’ is by no means a simple listen. From the touchingly ballad-esque bridges of ‘universalizable’, through to the left-turn rap of ‘movezherb’ and Indian percussion spread throughout ‘action caption’, this EP never starts to make sense, or lose an inch of its huge groove In fact, it manages the insane feat of being both completely bonkers and touchingly emotive in one fell swoop, and all with some giant beats driving it throughout.

Wirewound vs. Datacrashrobot

“Xylogic Splitter”

Machines Collide
Coming from the recesses of an obscure computerized coding mechanism, the impossible has happened!
Forget about Cyberdyne Systems taking over the world, the machine onslaught is happening now, in the shape of proto beats emanating from Bucharest’s own Sorin Paun.
Yeah, you guessed it: the electro bursts of Datacrashrobot have probed the aggressive electronica of Wirewound, merging amorphous glitched up machines and obscure textures, struggling against some of the heaviest beat work he’s produced. It’s an always intense, gripping experience through the realms of abstract and thought-provoking electronic music, the binary codes have taken over and all we can do is to allow these electro shocks to please our ears and mind as they see fit.
Prepare not to feel human for a while. Get ready to experience the cyborg transition through the simple click of download. (F.G.)

Cryptic Mao

“Second”

Artist : Cryptic Mao
Title : Second
Catalog # : TXR058
Duration : 41:42
Date of release : November 06, 2013
Genres : dark ambient, drone, noise
Format : digital (FLAC and MP3)
This is the second independent release from France’s drones creator after a multi-year hiatus, and while it offers no surprises, Second still yields plenty of satisfaction. It may seem strange to categorize an album of noise-tinged drone as “dark ambient” but Cryptic Mao has been working for several years now, and it continues to perfect what has become a well-established musical recipe: sweeping synthetic and electroacoustic sounds, slowly moving frequencies, distant pulsating noises. Each element is here to construct a description of a pure mental landscape.
