about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

V/A – Anti-Chiptune Chiptune

TWG013

“Anti-Chiptune Chiptune”

At TWG, we’ve always pushed the odd, the weird, and the emotionally robust. In celebration of the more esoteric corners of the chiptune stratosphere we’ve compiled 19 tracks from some of chiptune’s most notable and talented purveyors of “what?” to showcase what can be done when the term chiptune is examined. From scene veterans as prolific as Alex Mauer and inpuj’s ilkae, to newer blood like Nappes and TWG staples like Guardia and Vegas Diamond. We’ve got the final every Fauxhound track, +Let’s Disinfect!+ covering Bit Shifter’s ‘Activation Theme’ in a folk punk style, an Alex Mauer track written in 1997 and live NES Rom manipulation from DJ NORTON ANTIVIRUS. Plus a whole ton more. Some is unexplainable, some is not chiptune and som is not music, but we hope you enjoy this eclectic selection of oddities. ~~~~Thank you for listening to the ACCSS’ message~~~~

Art Electronix – Cold & Rusty

SCM.-1401

Art Electronix

“Cold & Rusty”

This music is minimalist and rough , but it makes your head swing to the beat, as much as it makes you feel the rhythm whistling in the pipes, gurgling in the tap, dripping like raindrops on the window sill, cats meowing and the fridge purring. All this turns into a rhythmic march of existence, the music of a musical box, or crammed tricky electronic circuits. As if robots were singing an ode to existence.

“Dissonance”

Finally after months of organising and collecting submissions, the Kahvi VA for 2013 is here. And as its a special compilation, we’re putting it out as the Christmas release for 2013 also. You’ve got a huge amount of styles and artists on this years VA, from 32 tracks combined to over 2.5 hours of quality music. Be warned that the download is hefty at 500MB for the MP3 version, and the podcast is over 350MB itself.

Artists found on this years VA include some Kahvi regulars including Brioskj, 4T Thieves, Polaski, MigloJE, Madstyle and Acrilic Colours and a lot of guest artists bringing some very interesting flavours to the mix. There are ambient tracks along with retro beat driven acid, something for everybody. We hope you enjoy this years VA, and remember the other Christmas releases from 4T Thieves and Reii released last week.

Tracks of choice are too many to mention but for something really refreshing check out Serhio Efremis – Mystery for a real taste of Russia.

Merry Christmas from all at Kahvi!

AutoReMi-PK – BRKN

TWG012

AutoReMi-PK

“BRKN”

What if Megaman soundtracks were written by Zan-Zan-Zawa-Veia? Seemingly hell-bent on finding out the answer to this, AutoReMi-PK’s TWG debut, ‘BRKN’, goes to great lengths to be a blinding mixture of experimental esotericism and melody-driven pop-esque hookery, and the evidence to his success is here in abundance.

>From the epic space swoons of ‘Subroutine Traffic Stop…’ to the manic energy and dissonant beauty of ‘Dys4-1A’, every inch of ‘BRKN’ is stylistically eclectic and robust, melodically affecting and compositionally complex. Where ‘BRKN’ excels best is its ability to mix those heart-rending melodies into vigorous and rewarding compositions. The melodies of ‘Rules and Regalia…’ call into mind the heydays of Bit Shifter, ‘Requiem (Our Stolen Future)’ ends with soft but emotively poignant sweeps of motifs, and ‘We Never Sleep/Artemidorus’ moves from crunchy experimentalism into a melody that defines the term ‘tearjerker’.

‘BRKN’ is an album as well as a journey. Every track slips into the next as a continuous piece and the effect is infectious. A consistent aural and emotive assault, every turn and shift as unforgettable as the preceding, every arp brimming with emotion and every passage a piece of compositional masterpiece that ticks the boxes of both rational talent and emotive creativity. Those who have already decided their albums of the year may have been slightly pre-emptive; on his debut, AutoReMi-PK has already solidified his place as an incredibly talented composers, and ‘BRKN’ as one of the scene’s best offerings in some time.

Don’t Look At Me I Am Deformed – We Are D.L.A.M.I.A.D. And You Caren’t

UPL 057

Don’t Look At Me I Am Deformed

“We Are D.L.A.M.I.A.D. And You Caren’t”

I came out of my house one morning to find this monstrosity on my doorstep without any note or explanation. A single set of footprints in the mud ran from my stairs for a few meters only to abruptly end in the middle of nowhere. “Personal Space!” I screamed to no one in particular, shaking my fist. Then I proceded to listen.

I guess this is supposed to be mainly electronic dance music but to actually call it that would be an insult to dance music. Although rightfully bouncy and even catchy from time to time, this seems more like a twelve year old with severe ADHD heard three dance tunes from the nineties and proceded to replicate it using sampling techniques from the eighties. Sometimes it goes very well, sometimes it’s hard to figure out what the author intended. It is sloppy, amateurish, crude and possibly illegal. It is right up our alley. Enjoy.

Marc De Blanchard – Activité Animale

D!HR-22

Marc De Blanchard

“Activité Animale”

Activité Animale is an obsessive and heady album organized around nine tracks (and one bonus !) with a crescendo intensity promising a paroxystic transe.

This second opus brings us in a mystical adventure carried by a brutal and heavy bass tainted of an ingenious mixture of stolen animal and sciencefiction sounds. A well orchestrated alternation of organic and synthetic sounds evolving on rhythm form IDM to techno and disco to rockabilly.

Activité Animale tells us about transformation from man to animal, a frightening absurd metamorphosis creating a necessary humility to an open travel where everything is possible. Consider this album as a skillfully build up journey releasing your deeper animal instincts.

In fact Activité Animale is first if all an invitation to discover the « galactic zoo » universe of Marc de Blanchard, kingdom of laser tigers and leopards hearts !
Within this 22nd release, Da ! Heard It Records is promising once again a nice sound and visual adventure. Prepare your grooming to a kicky expedition trough the farthest reaches of your animality.

Frame – Nice to meet you EP

[334]

Frame

“Nice to meet you EP”

For 334 another guest artist is featured on the label, this time Frame from Portugal with a four track ep entitled ‘Nice to meet you ep’.

Firmly in the easy listening genre, Nice to meet you ep is full of subtle touches and nice grooves to get you involved in the tracks. Listening carefully, you’d be forgiven in thinking that Lalo Schifrin had dropped by and chosen a few well placed notes, especially the electric piano in Irony of fate. A nice mix of 70s cool with 21st century technology!

Of course, not every track is the same with Solar Station being in a similar ‘feel good groove’ like Kenny Beltrey from previous releases.

Tracks of choice for this listener: Summer Rain with that familiar vibe that seems to be so familiar but you can’t quite put your finger on it and Wave my soul for an epic chillout track perfect for a few beers on the balcony. Chill!

Steve Hilmy – This Space Occupied (by Maida)

[zero147]

Steve Hilmy

“This Space Occupied (by Maida)”

This is a recording of a performance at the Barents Spektakel Festival in Kirkines, at the top of Norway in the Arctic circle February 2013. This recording is the work *as performed* captured by streaming 18 stems to disk during the performance and mixed later on the plane on the way back to the US.

This Space Occupied (by Maida) was originally commissioned by the Washington Project for the Arts for a 5-hour endurance performance in an elevated glass cage at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC fall of 2012. It is an interactive performance of structured improvisation, stream of consciousness choices by Maida Withers as performer and dancer, and Steve Hilmy as musician and composer, that reveal the precariousness of life in the glass cage. The 5-hour endurance event was inspired by notions of the Occupy movement. Portions of Maida’s text are fragments of poetry of David McAleavey who is a professor of literature and creative writing at George Washington University, and Alex Caldiero a poet, polyartist, sonosopher, and scholar of humanities and intermedia and a professor of Philosophy and Humanities at Utah Valley State College.

In this recorded performance Maida Withers wears a headset mic and Steve Hilmy processes her speech and movement while performing on keyboard, computer, and miscellaneous controllers, making all sonic decisions in the moment.
