about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Guilherme Darisbo + Peter Gossweiler

“Tocan el Blues”

Tocan el blues. Using the Blues patterns framework. Perhaps the best album by Gossweiler + Darisbo partnership. Recorded probably in 2013, it waited for several years for release. Whenever the two artists met, they remembered, “What about that blues record?” A vida tem dessas coisas. Hey yeah. Tell me what you gonna do.

Janne Nummela – Preserve Energy Because the Struggle is Long

Janne Nummela – Preserve Energy Because the Struggle is Long
[mhrk256]

Janne Nummela

“Preserve Energy Because the Struggle is Long”

IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH GRASPING THE DIVISION OF LABOUR BETWEEN MAN AND MACHINE

“There are obviously various musical directions and techniques going on in this album. A variety of sound sources and instruments are introduced. Abandoning specialization and sliding towards universality produces thriving musical diversity but also easily ends up to the dilettantism, which I have not been that much afraid of.

How many instruments I really played on this album? The answer is unambiguous. I am a guitarist, so I play guitar (on tracks 1, 2 and 10). Track 8 is played on the guitar, but the sound source is a virtual instrument violin (Embertone’s Joshua Bell violin by guitar to MIDI, no Max/MSP involved). Playing gestures of violin (sampled) and guitar (played by me) are entirely different in nature. So what is the point of playing violin by the guitar? Just to have fun.

Hzk – New Order World

Hzk – New Order World
[mi275]

Hzk

“New Order World”

For those who do not know Hzk this is the right record to click on play.

Impossible to hear him quietly! Noise where our electrical brain waves are automatically connected with New Order World. Yes, that’s what we see if we keep our attention high.

A New Order World by the hands of Hzk. The shuffled senses, the sense of reordering space and time. Sometimes you go up, sometimes you go down the stairs of your troubled mind.

Directly from Japan to MiMi Records a record that moves our guts. We could tell you to sit down and let you travel between beautiful landscapes, but we would be lying. Sit down and travel underground, your heavier self, the confusions of your mind and let Hzk rearrange you! Start at the surface and let yourself go down to the underworld.

Georgina Canifrú – Ensayos de distancia

Georgina Canifrú – Ensayos de distancia
[pn168]

Georgina Canifrú

“Ensayos de distancia”

With the purpose of perceiving the spatial/sonic distance through drifts/displacements between rehearsal rooms of music schools in the metropolitan region of Chile, and the rehearsal rooms of Córdoba and Buenos Aires, Argentina, this auditory register transports us to realities that today are no longer familiar. In this way, when going through the seven tracks we can connect with situations, sounds and spaces that evoke a human activity that as a consequence of the pandemic have become distanced themselves, the rehearsal.

During the development of the project and Micro-File Memory of the Project ESSAY ROOM n ° 2: Distance in piano and double bass developed at the IMUC (2012) with the tutorship of Luis Prato, Georgina manages to capture/record those moments of proximity/distance where the music that is still prepared with dedication before entering the scene lives. Just as the map has been the main instrument of communication of the cartographer, or of he/she or those who have drawn it, over the most diverse foundations and with varied techniques and purposes; Georgina manages in each work of this album to present a concrete manifestation of a geographical reality, situating us in those places and achieving sonic displacement.

In each listening we can go through corridors, stairs, sounds of instruments, voices, steps that fill our memories with emotion and a little nostalgia, transporting us to that instance, to those stories, that provoke us to converse in order to relive those moments of camaraderie. Each melody heard in the records allows us to connect with what we already know about music, to distinguish between one subject and another, to recognize who wrote it or what period it belongs to, these are exercises that are undoubtedly triggered by this work of Georgina, who with her decision to activate her own listening today re-activates us and invites us to feel that this waiting for physical distance has an end.

At present, distance has been assumed as a necessary action to protect the human well-being that is health. Distance has also been synonymous with respect, distrust, introspection, tours and displacements, actions that are applied in accordance with the circumstances and contexts. It was unthinkable to believe that today those spaces that the album evokes for us, an album that deserves to be listened to in a state of contemplation and intimacy, an album that invites us to reflect.

Distance, memory and longing, concepts that emanate from the origin of this album, located in diverse realities with connected situations, the rehearsal. Space for introspection, coordination, learning and communication, a space where poetry lives, the intangible heritage of that which is ephemeral in its temporal chronology but which leaves its mark on the sonic imaginary, making the reunion with these urban landscapes audible and possible.

Thuoom – Luonto

Thuoom – Luonto
[thump325]

Thuoom

“Luonto”

Luonto is the eight proper Thuoom album. As the other full-length album released on the same day Natur under the monicker Thuuooom) the sounds on this record consist 100% of nature field recordings. The recordings contain mostly birds but you can also hear bumblebees, deer, fishes mating, hints of human voices, small insects, sounds of walking through forest, wind, and windchime. Some of the tracks stay faithful to the sounds heard in nature (albeit in edited form), others mutate them into proper forestelektro.

Instruments used on this record: Field recordings captured with a binaural Soundman OKM II Classic Solo microphone attached to a Zoom H4n Pro portable recorder.

It took a long time before to add the voices… Perhaps because the poems are very intimates. I wrote them trying to understand how a woman can feel in this sick patriarcal world. The music is based on Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Urfaust & Charles Gounod’s Faust opera. Also Faust Wakes Nosferatu by the band Faust was a great inspiration for this album, that’s why we called it Faust tape as a blink eye to the Faust Tapes. Also you may notice that the sound is quite rought but it’s an improvisation and as explain in our previous release Cosmic Hobos Cult that’s better to do not clean it..

Rene Roco – Música para el caos

Rene Roco – Música para el caos
[pn167]

Rene Roco

“Música para el caos”

René Roco‘s new EP, his first Pueblo Nuevo solo release, suggests wandering along diverse soundscapes, not closely connected to their titles “Luna Nueva”, “Creciente”, “Luna Llena” and “Menguante” (New, Crescent, Full, and Quarter Moon). Talking to the composer, he states that the moon concept here is more related to thoughts and feelings evoked by it; cycles, nostalgia, magic are some of the notions shared in these compositions.

Sounds ranging from digitalia to Nature samples mingle into shades, painting melodies dynamic range, in counterpoint with hopeful harps, birds calm, and an atonal mystery, all of them finding their place along the narrative.

Although “Música para el caos” (Music for Chaos) is one of René’s quietest works, we’re still able to find his characteristic sounds, this time adding a live-played Casio CTK 571 keyboard on every track, recording, mixing, and mastering them at his studio.

It’s another perfect horsnorme music example, so it’s not relevant to
link it to any musical styles.

About the influences you may find it linked to nothing else than the music of the two protagonists which is allready a lot because they are quite eclectic :
Gabriel Pereira Spurr & Yoshiwaku Mushotoku.

Another thing, the visual side is an important part of this project.

bleed Air – s/t

bleed Air – s/t
[SPT002]

bleed Air

“s/t”

This is a mix tape (on cassette and digital) blending dark ambient, playful electronica as well as experimental beat and drone.

A journey into warm, analogue noise, echo and soundscapes, sometimes perhaps resembling a soundtrack for a yet unfilmed low budget sci-fi movie.

When Robot choirs start singing or (broken) analogue circuits and filters start doing what they want, it can get wacky, but we think it always remains pleasant to listen.

Mostly analogue electronic gear, often of the cheaper and not exactly hip kind, and tape effects were used.

It is recommended to listen to each side of the album in one piece. The single Digital release tracks are not mixed, but musically cut – and we’ve added the side A and B mixed files too. Sounds cooler on the nicely saturated ferro tape though.

bleed Air lives in Cologne, loves his Omnichord OM-27 and his tape echo too.

PIRATE Tapes – Cosmic Hobos Cult
[LCNLP111]

PIRATE Tapes

“Cosmic Hobos Cult”

Cosmic Hobos Cult is above all another page in the logbook of our improvised sound adventures. In a world under control, rigid, where everything obeys objectives, preaching the flexibility of vagrancy seems really saving. Not trying to please is obviously an act of resistance. From Kerouac to Kaufman, from Henry David Thoreau to Eden Ahbez, wandering leads to transcendence. Taming the silence. Free yourself from certainties. The spirituality of experience emerges through encounters, communion with wild nature, revelations of extreme states. The realization that you can just be alive. That it makes no sense to worry about appearing when the mind can break through like the celestial tramps.

These songs are too long for those who don’t want to like them, without values for those who want to miss them. Yet those who will not be put off by the filth and take this road far from the information superhighways … are already walking by our side.

Recorded at the Cave Haven Sunday 6th September 2020.
A musical dive into the celestial tramps poetry…
Thanks to Kerouac and all the Beat Generation for the inspiration.
This is improvised music… so we do not remove anything, that mean this isn’t formated for mainstream listeners… this is freewave.
