about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

SoundChaser – Inside The World Machine

[CAAM0002]

SoundChaser

“Inside The World Machine”

The title of this release is not a direct reference to any one thing. Instead it comes from the ideas and portrayals of dystopian societies in movies like Brazil, and Metropolis. The idea that we are becoming slaves to the machine seems more prescient given the rise of technology in our lives: cell phones, computers, tablets, smart TV’s…

C. Reider – Certainty Reducing Signals

C. Reider

“Certainty Reducing Signals”

For the first of two release for Netlabel Day 2015, we have a debut release on Happy Puppy by the musician, writer, listener and Vuzh Music netlabel head C. Reider.

C. has a huge catalog of work as an early champion of the Creative Commons movement, and even before that with mailing good old-fashioned cassette tapes around the world for years. To get a larger sense of his background, visit his bio page.

He is especially a believer of the sharing of music, and the creation of music from sharing. As we are here at Happy Puppy (with a small handful of exceptions), C. Licenses his music as derivative-friendly, hoping to encouraging more music creation, as you will also notice by the large attribution list below for the compositions on this release.

Flatland Sound Studio – Maximum Vacation Plus

Flatland Sound Studio

“Maximum Vacation Plus “

Flatland Sound Studio, aka Max Greening, a Vancouver based sound designer and producer, drops and impressive debut album full of everything we like here at Bedroom Research.

>From the very core ingredients (Colorful melodies, Top notch sound design, Vintage samples, Field recorded textures, Hard synthetic glitches, etc), to the overall vibe (from sweet childhood nostalgia, humorous hooks to noisy mayhem) or the well infused musical influences (think Herbert, Matmos, Vibert, Prefuse73, Osymyso, to name a few).

Bebawinigi – Bebawinigi

Bebawinigi – Bebawinigi
[SDR022]

Bebawinigi

“Bebawinigi”

Bebawinigi (Virginia Quaranta) is an Italian singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and actress.
Her first Lp, “Bebawinigi”, collects few tracks, different from each other, first taste and first step of this artistic path.
Bebawinigi project is an experimentation: the fusion of various branches of rock – from grunge to new wave, from psychedelia to punk, from industrial to noise – with electronic, blues, jazz, folk and classical music. All this combined with a theatrical approach, expecially live where there’s unusual employment of conventional instruments or common objects producing peculiar sounds, and the artist uses her voice in a wide variety of timbres, registers, colors and styles, searching for an invented language, a personal grammelot.
In 2014, Bebawinigi is main actress, as well as the soundtrack composer and interpreter of “Lievito Madre” a Fulvio Risuleo’s short film, 3rd award’s winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Cinéfondation section.
In 2015, she’s the soundtrack composer and interpreter of “Varicella”, a Fulvio Risuleo’s short film, 1st award’s winner at the “Semaine de la Critique” (Cannes).

Steven Ball – Life of Barrymore

[LOR065]

Steven Ball

“Life of Barrymore”

Extraordinary EP of new songs by the New Cross based sound/visual artist and composer Steven Ball (a member of the influencial DIY electronics group Storm Bugs with Philip Sanderson). “Life of Barrymore” is a collection of songs with lyrics transcribed from verbatim recordings of specially selected snatches of British television. Haunting, and occasionally uncomfortable, “Life of Barrymore” treats these found texts with utmost seriousness, and are sung by Ball in a moving and mesmeric fashion over specially created beds of accordion, guitar andelectro-acoustics. “Life of Barrymore” is a gripping and unique experience.

Haase+Santis – M5

[pn098]

Haase+Santis

“M5”

The Haase+Santis duo was initiated through a visit by the violinist Johannes Haase to the Open City of Amereida – the place where sculptor and noise artist Óscar Santis currently resides. There, they began to develop a bond in relation to music as sound structure. The improvisations they realize are based on free sessions, wherein a dialogue is generated at the intersections of these structures. These are the intersections that articulate and give shape to the music.

Concerning the sound structures that bind them together, their relationship is highly complex in the sense that in certain moments we see extremely opposed planes proceeding independently, a radicalism of timbre and brutality of sound that carries an involuntary dissociation to the ear in order to contain the sounds that the duo presents us. At the same time, in other moments we see artists highly polished from a sonic precision and beauty that generates a temporal confusion, leading us to a careful and precise internal listening.

The duo articulates their discourse from a sonic radicalism, making sure that their music does not permit the listener to release his or her attention from listening at any time. The sonic turbulence generated by the noise of Óscar, and the constant evolution generated by the tension of Haase’s violin makes listening to this album a beautiful challenge for attentive listening, which these days have so much forgotten. But above all, the sonic radicalism, and the freedom of form presented by the duo are appreciated.

VV.AA. – Concurso de Composición Gustavo Becerra 2012-2013

[pn097]

VV.AA.

“Concurso de Composición Gustavo Becerra 2012-2013”

“For reasons difficult explain and of a very distinct nature, the release of this musical collection has recently become possible to complete. We ask forgiveness from the authors, but we believe that, as in many other fields, it is better late than never, especially in this case in which works remained suspended in time, awaited by restless ears and speakers disposed to sound them.

We feel proud of the labor of diffusion and stimulus to create this competition had in its brief existence. We believe that the maestro Gustavo Becerra Schmidt will continue to inspire us and that in the future others will take his example and propel it towards other/new generations. For Pueblo Nuevo making this album available for your ears is an important part of its function and legacy. Now without further delay: enjoy the sound and the freedom of creation!”

Alisú – Nave Afrodita

[M016]

Alisú

“Nave Afrodita”
