about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

This license is the most restrictive of our six main licenses, only allowing others to download your works and share them with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.

Marco Mestichella is a 24 years old recording and performing artist originally from Italy who moved to London in 2009 where he’s been producing and playing original music since.
He describes his style as ‘ILLPOP’ referring to it as a blend of trip hop, retro-pop, soft rock and cinematic music.
Marco’s debut EP ‘The Day I Killed My Ego’ was self-released in 2013, with the following release of two video-singles ‘Treason’ and ‘I Should Have Stayed Home Tonight’.
His new single ‘ Fragments Of Light’ has been released earlier this month and plenty of new music is set to be released over the next year with new live dates in the pipeline.
Marco has been working with bristolian arranger/composer Joe Rodwell whom he has co-produced all his music with so far as well as collaborating with other underground songwriters like Turan and Claudia Heidegger.
Marco’s music is a crossover in between 70’s and 90’s productions, with hints of Portishead, Morcheeba, Isaac Heys and Pink Floyd, mixed with some old school Madonna and George Michael.

Wings of an Angel – The Magic Realism Of The End Of Art

Wings of an Angel – The Magic Realism Of The End Of Art
Self-Release

Wings of an Angel

“The Magic Realism Of The End Of Art”

Wings of an Angel – The Magic Realism Of The End Of Art
I have a love-hate relationship with art in general. Because very often artists lack self-humor and too often suffer from a Napoleonic Complex. They look upon themselves from such heights and perceive their work to be of unmatched grandiosity. Look and reflect on your favorite artists and/or bands – how much they seek the approval and passionate love from their audiences, to the point it becomes hilariously odious. Groupies and more groupies, men and women alike, and collectors who worship their guru artists as if they were living gods… Today, at the front door of the new year, I feel so detached from all this glamour.
My point of reference is: in this time and age, we have to expand the limits of what art is and how we as individuals and as a culture perceive a certain work of art.
This LP is titled accordingly, and symbolizes a vision according to which art has an end or rather art might end at some point. Metaphorically, I feel as if artists are not as important a persona as they are often perceived and/or vision themselves to be. Unfortunately, unlike human touch, art cannot comfort one on his or her deathbed. Art is a remarkable transitional object, but it’s no substitute for so many things and experiences. Artistic creations become obsolete, they weary off with time, lose their initial relevance, become inanimate, inorganic and abiotic. This is why, although some would call me an artist (a title I don’t seek nor need in my age) – I look upon art in general and my creative adventures in particular with a lightweight tone…

Telegraphy – Me, Without A Name
Telegraphy’s eighteenth release here on Ionosonde Recordings. Tying our shoes on bubble gum ground is as close as a description for this “shoe gazed” five tracked experimental dubed techno EP. “Me, Without A Name” explores the inner most part of ourselves. The “I” of consciousness is only but a clumsy word that attempts to describe you and me. Without the “I”, how can we have the “ME”. The two must exist. So – “I” Telegraphy give you “Me, Without A Name.” Enjoy!

abjective from saint petersburg join tonAtom for their latest release. this artistic project of two brothers melts ambient, idm and glitch into unique compositions on their quest to discover and create new sounds.
13 tracks focusing on the topic of life and birth, death and re-birth are the building blocks for this full-length release “black ][ trees”. music for both brain and soul. an inspiring album and an incredible new entry to the tonAtom catalogue. welcome, abjective!

and in their own words:
“what is it, that dead trees speak about? about life and death, love and hate, happiness and pain. when foliage has fallen and beauty has ceased to be the raison d’etre, wisdom and knowledge move into focus.
black trees – music made of starlight lost among bare branches.”

“Commodore”

Faex Optim – Commodore
Faex Optim appeared in my inbox recently with a simple email – I think my tracks might fit the Kahvi sound, what do you think? Well, this short but ever so sweet EP of four tracks are about as close to Boards of Canada that this die hard BOC fan has ever heard.

Of course, Tycho and others have also made their style very similar to BOC, but Faex Optim hails from the very place that the Sandison brothers live – Scotland. Could it be something in the water or something else? hmm. All the tracks are amazing and if you’re familiar with BOC, you’ll get the feeling and the vibe straight away. Sentimental, lo-fi, analogue, warm, cold. Sending a shiver down your back? This ep has it all. And with minimal equipment that Faex described to me, so who needs a studio full of hardware to create tracks of this calibre?

Track of choice for me is Dancing lessons from the man. Enjoy Commodore, as part of the Christmas lineup for 2014!

barbeque – transient portals
Today TWG closes it’s doors. Seeing us off, piggy legend barbeque is releasing his latest with us, a mesh of chilled footwork, tinges of acid and a whole lot of ambient leanings; a release as kinetically moving as it is emotionally so.

Featuring chilled vaporware-by-R&B footwork cuts like ‘c-a n..a d..i a_n __d..r..u-g s_t-o-r e-‘, sampled vox-heavy tracks like the near vocaloid ‘i want to hold u but i can’t’, and pieces more in line with his older output (‘indie.fuckboy’), ‘transient portals’ is eight tracks of eclectic perfection, taking a single overarching genre and fucking it every way possible. ‘transient portals’ takes barbeque’s recorded outputs to a new level, being easily his most condensed and realised release to date, ambition realised.

“Chosen Works 09-14 (vol.1)”

This is the first solo-release by TONYLIGHT, the one and the only 8bit precursor. “Chosen Works 09-14 (vol.1)” is a selection of compositions made by Tony since 2009 in order to build-up his live performances along Europe. Tony’s beats de-construction gradually grows-up during the listening transforming this release into the most hypnotic music labyrinth you can think of. Repetitive percussions dominate patterns to create an infinite obsessional journey. Brain-cutting patterns to recall the most acid and rhythmic Rephlex and Warp productions. Lysergic journey. Move your body to save your brain w/TONYLIGHT!

Wings of an Angel

“In This Morbid Dream, I Had A Direct Encounter With A Slow Motion Dissolution Into Nonexistence”

Wings of an Angel – In This Morbid Dream, I Had A Direct Encounter With A Slow Motion Dissolution Into Nonexistence
On that unforgettable night, I had slept maniacally and dreamed that I am no longer myself; I was dying slowly, slowly, like winter’s lazy snowflakes. In that morbid dream, I had encountered a slow motion dissolution into irreversible nonexistence. It was the most frightening experience I’ve ever had. To lose yourself is finite. We conduct our lives in the same way we manage our loves – dysfunctionally – thinking it’s everlasting and will never change or come to an end. But, like a fly in the ointment, it will sooner or later pass out, pass away, dissolve little by little or swiftly… And guess what? We can’t choose! So, like a broken VHS cassette which no longer functions properly but still works in slow motion mode, we eventually fall into the void of naught … I will never forget how my whole life had been shown to me like in some kind of a cheap Flickr slideshow effect. I had seen my failures and triumphs with clogged tears in my eyes, not only because of the nostalgia they had unsurprisingly awoken in me, but also because they had had exactly the same specific gravity. Then, it has occurred to me that life is a cold neutral mechanism, in which no event has no more or less value than the other. And by the end of it, be it bitter or bittersweet, nothing of the last remaining relics of my once unfathomable gang of friends shall survive. All will perish, all will wash away with the timeless winter rain.

“Tep Sava Galvos”

Weedie – Tep Sava Galvos
Kahvi welcomes guest artist Weedie with a six track ep entitled ‘Tep Sava Galvos’ (meaning Between my head in Lithuanian).

Slightly underground and less mainstream than the last release from Tetarise, Weedie looks towards the minimal and eccentric side of electronic music with subtle beats and melodies, yet nice analog sounds such as the basses on Ego Cogito Cogitatum.

Influences are obviously artists such as Autechre and perhaps a hint of Arovane, and even some Solar Fields, which makes for an interesting listening experience to many a Kahvi fan.

Track of choice for me would be Cukrus Chalvai Atrodo Originaliai Saldus (in English Sugar seems to halva originally sweet) with its mellow groove and nice sounds. The last non-English trackname is Eik ir motyvuokis which means Go and motivate (yourself)

With a rework of a jazz song as well as with an ambient, a 4-to-the-floor and a DnB track Blackberry crosses various stages of his creative musical work of the last year. In well known high sound quality longing sounds weave far and crunchy field recordings, bells, clocks, sea water, all is in. The time is running, good music accompanies us.

“Enkang”

DubRaJah – Enkang
DubRaJah is a project of Sergey Gabbasov, a Russian anthropologist and ethnomusicologist, specialized in the peoples of East Africa and Indonesia and student of “Dhow Countries Music Academy” (Zanzibar, Tanzania). He has made many ethnographical expeditions in different parts of Africa, Asia and Europe, produced several films about indigenous peoples and studied their native music. This is Sergey’s first release on Dubophonic.

“Enkang” means in the Maasai language “homestead” .Maasai is one of the very few tribes who have retained most of their traditions, lifestyle and lore. “Enkang” is also the name of DubRaJah’s EP, which was recorded in the period from Autumn 2013 till Summer/Autumn 2014 in Arusha (Tanzania), Stone Town (Zanzibar, Tanzania), Wete (Pemba, Tanzania) and Moscow (Russia). DubRaJah fuses a deep digital dub style with organic sounds, traditional African melodies and chants from the people of Maasai, Datooga, Hadza, Pemba and Zanzibar, incorporating also samples of Mad Professor on “Eyasi Dub” and “Zanzibar Dub”. Each track has is own magic, from the ritual chants in “Laibon” to the mystical beauty of the “Ngezi” forest, cleansing the body, the mind and the soul.
