However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. Daniel Robert Lahey

“After Un-Rethinking Things Again”

Daniel Robert Lahey – After Un-Rethinking Things Again
Daniel Robert Lahey’s latest takes the listener into his inner thoughts, and reflection on the creative process.

Daniel Robert Lahey is not an impulsive composer. He takes a lot of time working throuhg his pieces, developing them a little bit at a time. This kind of process is prone to rigorous mental processes by which he works on an idea only to realize it didn’t lead where to a good conclusion. So, it becomes a game of re-thinking his ideas through multiple times.

On After Un-Rethinking Things Again Daniel documents several works that developed over a longer period of time. Pieces that were more difficult in composition, but more rewarding in their results.

Cousin Silas – Cold Star
Many Cousin Silas works are built on the concepts found in science fiction and science. It is one of the most fertile grounds for exploration in an artistic context that is available.

Cold Star is a long-form recording that creates the ambiance of a long journey to another planet. This journey concludes with the view of a brown dwarf star, known as a “cold star”. Cold stars have long been the subject of science fiction, having been referenced in many novels and TV series. In science cold stars are commonly known as brown dwarfs, (or “failed stars”) which are unable to create their own energy.

“Drum And Bones”

Basic Elements – Drum And Bones
Basic Elements is back on CerebralAudio with Drum and Bones. The first drum and bass style electronica release on CerebralAudio. It seems that Basic Elements is set on making as many firsts on CererbralAudio as he can, and we approve!

With this release he set out to produce an old school DnB release, harking back to the roots of Jungle music and the influences of producers like LTJ Bukem, Nightmares On Wax and The Prodigy. Breakbeats and Amen break inspired rhythms are the core of this release.

But it is much more. It is a listening experience: you will listen to from start to finish, and add to your playlist. There is not a weak track on this release. Bit this is the way Pim van Dorst works as Basic Elements, if he isn’t satisfied that his music can be listened to from start to finish, he won’t release it. He is a perfectionist, and it shows in his music.

This is a recommended headphone listening release for all lover of DnB and Jungle music styles!

“Se dice Misterioso [pn123]”

Mr. & Oso – Se dice Misterioso [pn123]
“As every Tuesday night falls in the city of Viña del Mar; Moraga, Arellano and Castro meet to play and record what happens. Based on a spirit of camaraderie, they turn on their synthesizers, drum machines, effects and computers and once again begin their exercises in creating amusing and amiable improvisations. From these extensive sessions, recorded according to the dogma of the trio -directly to a stereo track-, they extract the passages that constitute each one of the six tracks that compose ‘Se dice Misterioso‘ (Its called mysterious).

Published by the indispensable Pueblo Nuevo, this is the third work of Mr. & Oso, an ensemble in electronic format that with its creative exercises transports us to the most inspiring grounds of Intelligent techno and the Ambient of the 90s, where electronica was – and here still is – a space of personal discovery, and at the same time a point of spiritual communion.

Either accompanying the beginning or end of the day; as much in solitude as among friends; wandering along the coast or without getting up from our chair, Se dice misterioso may be enjoyed equally, becoming an excellent soundtrack for a journey in which physical displacement is not necessary, since it is concentrated enough on the present to take us as far as we please.

With smiles of complicity and satisfaction, Mr. & Osos end the session tonight. It will not be until next week when they meet again and return to their instruments to exchange musings in a musical key.”

Daniel Robert Lahey – Epiphany Counterfeit

Daniel Robert Lahey – Epiphany Counterfeit
[CACL0004]

Daniel Robert Lahey

“Epiphany Counterfeit”

Daniel Robert Lahey – Epiphany Counterfeit
Daniel Robert Lahey returns to CerebralAudio with a suite of four works on Epiphany Counterfeit.

This release starts with the serene, floating Given Time.  This work is brooding at times, filled with internal tensions and conflict.  It has the feeling of the internal struggle that we go through with our own mortality, that relationship with time that we cannot escape and yet we have a feeling of want or need to understand, a desire to bargain with it to understand our lives and our desires better.

Daniel has a penchant for offering pieces with titles that are puns, and Present Tents is no exception.  At first it seems to be an odd title, is it a play on the military phrase “present arms”? or maybe it’s a reference to camping equipment. And, then there is the play on the phrase “present tense”, in which case it could be a reference to current tension, or a reference to grammar.  Based on the context of the work, I would think that it is a play on the grammatical construction, but then again, maybe Daniel has a fondness for camping gear that he hasn’t told me about.

The third track is the main focus of this release.  It’s a reminder that sometimes things we think, or things that we are lead to believe can be false.  On one level it’s an interesting struggle that artists go through actually working to build knowledge, and to find a perspective on that knowledge to be able to communicate it in another form.  It’s almost a disaster to realize that the knowledge that has been built is not accurate, it’s false, and potentially destroys the work(s) one has built around them.

The final piece of this release is a another playful title from Daniel, Quatre Morceaux, can be a reference to this release (which contains four pieces), or it could be a reference to the work itself being comprised of four pieces.  Either way it’s a very fitting way to close out Epiphany Counterfeit.

Roedor – Simbiosis

Ivan Black – Aural Sketchings
Twenty-three works of ambient doodling’s, short soundscapes, or possible soundtracks. The idea behind the project was to allow artists, film directors or animators to use them with their work. If I get mentioned in the project for providing the music. Allowing the works to work with or inspire other works. It would be great to build on this idea so groups of artists are working together on small projects all over the world, sharing ideas and concepts together.

Música Inmobiliaria – Dance

Música Inmobiliaria – Dance
[pn122]

Música Inmobiliaria

“Dance”

Música Inmobiliaria – Dance
“‘Dance’ is almost as old as man on earth. The fetus kicks the belly of its mother with rhythm. Sweet woddles to the meter of the music with the first steps. School partie include typical dances. From child to the older adult, everyone is dancing.

It is in these terms that I understand Música Inmobiliaria’s work – parallel project of José Gallardo -, titled ‘Dance’, as part of human reality, ‘Who could say that they have never danced?’

Now, the currents of dance music are extensive and for all tastes. What summons us is electronic. A rich sound of featuring classic analog sounds, old-fashioned electro along with vocoder, there is glitch, synthesized strings pads, powerful sinusoidal basses, in sawtooth and squares, TR-808 sound and a robotic voice that says ‘I want to dance’… Why not do it? It even has a rumba to Jean Michel closing the album to enthuse you.

An album with taste and flavor, with textures that, in an imaginative way, present us with a different, experimental and successful dance music. All in good time with Música Inmobiliaria.”

Various – Into The Rift Volume Two

Various – Into The Rift Volume Two
[CAAN0002]

Various

“Into The Rift Volume Two”

The theme “World Wide Storms” for Into The Rift Volume Two, was inspired by looking at the world around us, the events and issues that are facing us. Whether those events are political, social, environmental, or something else, everyone has been touched by some looming storm in front of us.

Part of the fun in making a theme like this was that it left the artists open to interpretation. It could be literal, metaphor, allegory, or any of other ideas that the artists had in mind. And there are fifteen very different perspectives on the storms in our world today.

But there is also a consistency to this release. It’s not just a collection of recordings thrown together. Each artist has contributed a work that fits within the theme, making for a recording that is more experience than it’s predecessor.

The seventeen tracks on Into The Rift Volume Two represent a lot of different thoughts on the world, right now. But, I am optimistic about one thing: this is a work that will transcend current events.

Scott Lawlor

“Night On The Great Beach”

Scott Lawlor – Night On The Great Beach
Scott Lawlor is a sonic explorer of great skill and knowledge. For this work he found a passage in The Outermost House: A Year of Life On The Great Beach of Cape Cod by Henry Beston that was appealing to him and set out to interpret it as an audio work.

This work is comprised of three pieces, the titles of which are each a passage from the book: “…they fear, rather, the energies and creatures to whom night gives power.” and “Yet to love thus, to know only artificial night is as absurd and evil as to know only artificial day.”

Stylistically this work is reminiscent of 1970’s Klaus Schulze recordings, like Timewind.

DR – This Way
Dominic Razlaff (aka DR) returns to CerebralAudio with a new release: This Way.

Dominic’s minimal approach to drone music makes for excellent listening any time: driving, or studying, working or meditating.

This Way is a statement about music, and particularly drone works. He is sticking close to the original Brian Eno inspired concept of drone works: they should be minimal in terms of structure and movement. They have the capacity to both be listened to and ignored at the same time. Ambient music by it’s very nature, is an audio experience that enhances the environment.

Tha Silent Partner – Platters, Act 7: Tha Anniversary Plate
[BSOG0068]

Tha Silent Partner

“Platters, Act 7: Tha Anniversary Plate”

Tha Silent Partner – Platters, Act 7: Tha Anniversary Plate
On December 24th, 2007, Gregory “Tha Silent Partner” Davis released the first volume in what would become an enduring series of music release that altogether has accumulated an incredible 100,000+ downloads. In our little Creative Commons licensed / Netlabel sphere of music, those kinds of numbers are hard to come by. If, as an artist, you’re getting numbers like that, you’re doing something right. Of course, TSP is. It’s difficult for a music producer to develop “a sound”, yet, that’s exactly what he’s done.

Act 7 continues the legacy with ten solid grooves for funkin’… or whatever… download… turn it on… bump it loud… enjoy.

Ever since I first heard Act 1 on Jamendo and decided to include “No Mas” on “netBloc Volume 11 (The Raw and the Cooked)”, it was clear to me that Tha Silent Partner was a music artist that I wanted to keep up with. I was later thrilled when he showed interest in having his music being released at blocSonic It’s been a pleasure and an honor to be able to help spread the word about TSP over the years! It’s also incredible that it’s already going on ten years since he kicked off Platters the Platters series. I look forward to the next ten. TSP, thank you, sir!

Pk jazz Collective – Safe From Harm

Pk jazz Collective – Safe From Harm
[Netlabel Day 2017]

Pk jazz Collective

“Safe From Harm”

Pk jazz Collective – Safe From Harm
Песня “What If?”
