about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Gamma morph
Consists in 7 tracks that fuses elements of electronic music including industrial, noise, clicks, cuts and glitches which are manipulated by different overlapping frequencies that appear and disappear creating at times rhythmic cells, or working as a dialogue of noises into the musical narrative.
Acoustical elements, malfunctioning beats get integrated into abstract and complex mechanical forms that are combined with intervals of cosmic and etheric textures, giving birth to those signals that will lead us to transit into that space.

Composed and performed by Pablo Ribot

Smooth – Vintage 05
Part 5 of the “Vintage-series” by Smooth presents a nice blend of deep rhythms, calm moods and melancholic pads, musically placed somewhere between Deep House and Dubtechno.

As on the former 4 parts of this series of EPs, the goal was to produce the tracks using vintage hardware exclusively.

This EP features good, old machines like the Roland TR-626, the Roland MC-303, the Roland D-50, the Roland JV-2080 and the EMU ESI-4000 – mixed on an analog mixing console by Allen&Heath.

Roedor – Simbiosis

MRTN CSTR – Arquitectura espectral
MRTN CSTR – Arquitectura espectral

‘Arquitectura espectral’ is the second work by sound artist MRTN CSTR (Martín Castro) from Córdoba, Argentina for netlabel ‘Modismo’. In this EP made up of three tracks we are able to appreciate and enjoy once again digital atmospheres which are characteristic in his musical duty: gliding melodies, delicate rhythms, fine atmospheres, counterpoints. Martín builds his songs from technology, he experiments with creation of waveworms, sound synthesis, complex structures created with specialized sequencers and instruments for the software Reaktor. However, the results are far from being robotics or dehumanized because the structures (the ‘buildings’ of this architecture) become cozy, puzzling at the same time and profound, inviting us to inhabit them. Moving musical ideas based on algorithm and mathematical formulae from theory to practice tends to be a challenge that is rarely well resolved, as elevating a structure from paper to physical reality, and by ‘well resolved’ I mean experimenting the beauty of a good listening at last, the pleasure of self-abandonment to contemplation beyond the techniques or technologies utilized for its construction, which it is fully accomplished in ‘Arquitectura espectral’. As a good sculptor, Castro reveals the shape of his compositions from the development of sound layers that are added, subtracted, that interact and move around space, generating tensions and distensions, creating sounds-cells and sonic-organisms pieces that evolve in their route. This is the difference between the robot and its perfect and synchronized movements, versus the organic bodies-muscles with their subtle differences and their impossibility of doing exactly the same, the same way, all the time, where one could be more efficient than the other, but never more interesting to contemplate or, in this case, to listen.

Tha Silent Partner

“Platters, Act 7: Tha Anniversary Plate”

Tha Silent Partner – Platters, Act 7: Tha Anniversary Plate
On December 24th, 2007, Gregory “Tha Silent Partner” Davis released the first volume in what would become an enduring series of music release that altogether has accumulated an incredible 100,000+ downloads. In our little Creative Commons licensed / Netlabel sphere of music, those kinds of numbers are hard to come by. If, as an artist, you’re getting numbers like that, you’re doing something right. Of course, TSP is. It’s difficult for a music producer to develop “a sound”, yet, that’s exactly what he’s done.

Act 7 continues the legacy with ten solid grooves for funkin’… or whatever… download… turn it on… bump it loud… enjoy.

Ever since I first heard Act 1 on Jamendo and decided to include “No Mas” on “netBloc Volume 11 (The Raw and the Cooked)”, it was clear to me that Tha Silent Partner was a music artist that I wanted to keep up with. I was later thrilled when he showed interest in having his music being released at blocSonic It’s been a pleasure and an honor to be able to help spread the word about TSP over the years! It’s also incredible that it’s already going on ten years since he kicked off Platters the Platters series. I look forward to the next ten. TSP, thank you, sir!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!

C_C – Impendulo

C_C

“Impendulo”

C_C – Impendulo
For its 34th release, Da ! Heard It Records is warming up the machines to trace some new paths.
Impendulo is C_C’s new cassette.
Packaged in quasi-monochrome illustrations with quasi-absurd architectural tendencies, the visuals emphasize the kinetic art and foreshadow what one is about to hear: chain reactions and strange angles; it all moves and it all hits.
This cassette is an absolute beat garage!
Think of a little place where things are done by hand, geared towards total customization, fine-tuning; truly without concession and C_C is the boss. He’s the one with his nose under the hood and adjusting everything by ear. In total contrast with factory and chain-work sound, C_C knows how to use a system as Low-Cost as Low-Fi. Not afraid of getting his hands dirty!
The electronic sound is played from the fingertips, and it’s audible: the patterns aren’t dull and the rhythms brilliant.
It also plays with codes, and plays with them in a laid-back way, arm hanging out the window, headlights fully on. It advances tirelessly, entertaining without using, definitely more auto-reverse than auto-stop. Natural born bottom-of-time, C_C plays it in four-wheel drive, for all terrains, and completely versatile in all respects. He alternates straight hitting lines, feedback turns, and reverb drifts, and allows himself to ride right in the middle, his kick as pressed as the pedal, larsen melodies comfortably settled in the backseat.
At full speed, it’s blinking from all sides, counterpoint at every corner. With always one ear on the rearview mirror, and the GPS evidently out of order… drifting away from the roots is inevitable. In Impendulo, one is thus neither here nor there, but rather on unknown territory with no markers, never safe, but always sound. Welcome to the fourth (rid)dimension, this four-track game that summons hormones and neurons, active listening, and active dancing.
The drum is electronic and its skin is unbreakable, and in a thousand miles, it will still be playing, unfettered. One hit up, one hit down, the rhythmics spar without any low hits and most importantly without the rotundity that fishing for sound can bring. With C_C, it’s refined and chiseled by ear on the mixing side. The composition is stripped of anything superfluous, reduced to the bones, and you feel it in your bones: trans, love it or leave it.
Impendulo, the 34th release of Da ! Heard It Records is distributed under a Creative Commons BY_NC_ND license.

Luis Marte / Poltamento

“MOVIL/INMOVIL”

Luis Marte / Poltamento – MOVIL/INMOVIL
“MOVIL/INMOVIL (Mobile/Immobile) is a sonic exploration of two worlds as seemingly distinct as are mobile musical applications and a Steinway grand piano.

This work of Luis Marte and Roger Delahaye aka Poltamento concentrates on a single musical space-time and, in the form of a single perspective, two dimensions that are both physical and categorical, the mobility and portability of electronic and granular software on one side, and the immobility of the great acoustic giant on the other. Categories of space and size, which are also of texture and dissimilar sonic thickness, nevertheless fused and assumed as part of a whole by ambient moments that are also impressionistic …

These fragments, wherein the warmth of the wood and the glitch’s abstraction solidify into a single entity, show us that the possible “N” worlds can converge in a singular sound synthesis, where the extremes touch and coexist, where, as Einstein said a century ago, motion or status depends on the viewer’s point of view, in this case the listener.”

Winterberg – le sacre du noir

[phokes123]

Winterberg

“le sacre du noir”

In perfect attention the crystallized minescrafter digs through the depths of the heights. In hand luggage the best machines, he travels across noone’s heaven. Three rooms.

With Winterberg’s second album, we go a bit deeper into his work. After his self chosen “lock in with grand” some songs reached new levels. Grasping the moment, comfort of maturity. Between saturated thickness and clear raising there are also occasionally surprises.

Over three hours of music has been found for this album, well portioned in three parts. Five years have passed since the previous album. Now he’s back for more. We wish you a great listening pleasure with these selected works of improvisation, of live play. Spirit, soul and earth invite you to dive into.

“return to the white blazes”

transient – return to the white blazes
15 years ago I released ‘white blazes’, an album made while hiking on the Appalachian Trail. A place that feels like my true home. Always residing in the depths of my mind, calling me back to the solitude and beauty that only nature can provide. So life recently provided me a little window of a bit over a month to return to this magical trail. Naturally, I thought it was a perfect time to compose a follow up to the original ‘white blazes’ and so you have here before you ‘return to the white blazes’. An album composed in the forests on the AT in Virginia, North Carolina, & Tennessee in the months of October and November of 2016. Back in the early 2000’s when I conceived the first release, I carried a heavy (15+ pound) laptop. The battery would barely hold a charge, and in the colder months of a winter hike would barely work at all. Oh, how times have changed in this short moment between then and now. This trip, I was able to carry 2 cell phones, a tablet, a plethora of power banks, etc. all weighing well under the weight and thoroughly out performing in terms of specs the original laptop. The trip provided much adventure and time for deep thought. I was surrounded with beautiful vistas awash in the splendor of autumn, clean crisp air in the star filled nights. I shared my campsite with packs of coyotes, got interrupted during dinner by a hungry bear, read lots of books, experienced the intensity of forest fires, and generally got rid of years worth of clutter in my head in a way only the trail can provide. It is my hope, that in some way, I may have captured just a bit of that magic in what I present to you here. That in these tones and rhythms you can experience a bit of that solitude and beauty for yourself, and if I failed, I only hope I can encourage you to go out and experience the wonders of nature for yourself. Much Love!

Peter Holy – s/t
After many years in the making, and following an obscure lo-fi CDR release about ten years ago, this is Peter Holy’s first solo album, this time without materializing physically (the music, not Peter).

Peter plays piano and sings, accompanied by Tupolev bandmates Alexandr Vatagin (cello, recording, mixing, mastering) and David Schweighart (drums). The record consists of 9 pieces, 2 of which are re-recordings from songs from the old CDR, one is a reworking of a piece by Tupolev and one piece was also used in a song on Alexandr Vatagins album Serza. The remaining 5 pieces are completely new.
