about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Jim Black

“Electro Future”

Time for the second of the two part roots of IDM and electronica selection. First Analogue 100101 gave us some minimal techno as you’d have heard in the late 80s and early 90s, and now we welcome Jim Black back to Kahvi once again, with some superb early to late 90s inspired IDM and electronica.

Back in 1994 (for some reason this year sticks in my mind) I listened to a radio show from London called ‘The Outer Limits’ on Kiss FM. Always a great listen, showing ground breaking electronic tracks which crossed over from the rave to the more melodical electronic scene.

Jim Black is the master of early 90s sounding tracks – and here is a hand picked 10 track album (playing time just under an hour) of some really epic and amazing tracks that would have fitted right in, way back when.

Check out Digital for a real taste of 808 State-esque epicness, and Fifth Republic for a real speaker shaking bassline!

And now you really want
To get this pain away so
This time your body’s old
And heart is full of shame cause you

Where’s your angel?
How could you
Lose your angel
Why do you
Lose your angel
Life is shit
There is no magic
Left for you

Listen to me
Cause If I could
Could Come back to you
I would keep you heart safe
Cause if I could
I would make you smile
I would make your life shine

You hide it in the dark
The creatures push the strangers
Does anybody know?
You’re hiding hole in your heart so

Ars Sonor – Transient / Eternal

Ars Sonor – Transient / Eternal

Ars Sonor

“Transient / Eternal”

I’ve heard it all… “Why the hell did you come to this country? No one needs you here. Go back”. “Okay, maybe you deserve life here, but you don’t deserve love. You aren’t ready”. “I can be your friend and that’s what I can offer. A Facebook friend”. “You’re a nice addition to my news-feed, although I’m obviously not interested in you”. “You’re full of shit… I’m not letting you in, never. Take care of yourself”. No, it doesn’t work here like it’s used to work back in the higher dimensions. No. You’ve been sent here to act as a sponge for negativity. Taking in shit of others. No wonder you’d like to withdraw from the world completely. What does it offer you? Only pain. Suicide? Oh, yes, right… been there, done that. Many times. You know you can’t be destroyed. “Go back to your misery. Nice knowing you”. What are you going to do after de-cluttering? The only answer is stillness. Being completely still… Purification. Healing rain. Self-isolation, of course, but no more self-flagellation. And yes, the recording is rough. Very rough, and created mostly in a status of “illegal alien”, in 2013. Is it only me who’s seeing irony here big time? Do I really pass as an Earthling?
…most of the tracks were created using a fan heater, voice, tapping of my fingers and few field recordings, during wintertime. In a trailer.
-20 C temperature. Only one small heater… Still alive.

Winter is transient. Nature is eternal.
Emptiness is transient. Energy is eternal.
Suffering is transient. Love is eternal.
Your body and your presence here is transient.
You are eternal. And you know that already.

Ars Sonor – The Third Circle

Ars Sonor – The Third Circle

Ars Sonor

“The Third Circle”

Remember that short story about Buddha and the bandit? You could feel mighty because you can wound and destroy, but the real mighty ones know how to create and to heal instead. Once you cut off the branch of a tree, you cannot put it back again. Once you’ve stabbed a heart of someone loyal to you, you can’t heal it, the damage is done. The heart will heal by itself, but the scars are to remain there forever. And this is a two-way road as well… I was really reluctant to release this album because it contains the last outbursts of anger and pain I felt during second half of 2014, before my awakening process had started. Concentrated anguish of the last glimpse… of the dark night of a soul. The last glimpse of the search “without”, the beginning of the search “within”. The penultimate chapter of the long night. 4AM and the healing rain pouring on the bleeding wounds of the tree, on the broken branches scattered on the soil around. The eleventh hour, my dear sand traveler… Time to make peace with the past. Let it go with love, for you can only invite the new in your life by detaching from the old. And the new branches will grow with time… for the morning is almost here. We have so much to exchange, my friend, but look beyond the horizon, beyond this veil of painful memories…
You see it now. Everything will be alright.

“...World’s Futures”

The project is a CD which consists of recorded sounds inside the halls of the 2015 Venice Biennale. I worked on field recordings, altering things while trying to maintain a certain sense. I excluded the installations that had soundtracks, preferring those which were closer to the noise … The work is comprised of two tracks: the first track is made with the sounds of the pavilions in the Giardini, the second track with the sounds inside the environments of the Arsenale.

“Analogue 100101”

To take us up to Christmas 2015, something a little special. Two releases two celebrate the roots of IDM and electronica, that we enjoy listening to at Kahvi by all the fantastic artists released over the years. The first release is by guest artist ‘Anonymous3’ with his six track EP entitled ‘Analogue 100101’.

After listening to the EP for the first time, I was struck by how familiar the tracks sounded compared to those albums I listened to in the early 90s. Halycon could have featured heavily on DJ mixes of the time with its long drawn out pads and 808 percussion, where Breath is a tribute to acid house. Heliopause and Metamorphosis could have come straight out of pirate radio broadcasts direct from London in 1994.

Enjoy this blast from the past – and watch out for part 2 of this celebration of the roots of electronica in the next release!

USIT

“Jetlag Dreams”

USIT is the name of transcontinental duo consisting of Florida-based guitarist Jeff Duke and Sicily-based (and Sucumusic’s own) guitarist Gaetano Fontanazza.

“Jetlag Dreams” is their fourth release and the first one on Sucumusic.

The two guitar maestros are masters of electronic devices too and their music is a whirlpool where ambient, psychedelic visions and cosmic drones meet glitches and rhythms that add colours and dimensions to the whole. The working method adopted by Usit on their previous releases (“Approaching”, 2010 – “Reunion”, 2011 – “Somewhere in the Ocean of Night”, 2011) is live improvisation via Ninjam (an online protocol that allows musicians jamming together in realtime via the Internet), but for the present release each of the two men worked in their own homes, then sharing files and processing them. The result, as usual, is an astounding web of palette of sounds which flow in and out of categorization, thus pleasing and appeasing the senses of the listener.

about
Hello and welcome to the Underpopular hits compilation, the third of its kind!

This is the idea: everytime another 20 albums get released on the Underpolen Netlabel, the glorious father of the undernation, Jan Strach, lovingly selects one song from each release to compile into a presentation for all of mankind, to represent what Underpolen is all about.

And we are about freedom of creative expression, creativity with no boundaries, laughing in the face of genre divisions, we love slip-ups and false starts, accidental noises and experiments of all kind. Pixels, artifacts, blurs and smudges around the edges. Ballpoint marks, scratchmarks, fingerprints all over the lovely amateur, homemade creations.

And we would like to share all of it with you.

The lovingly murky, atmospheric rock of poj.wlkp, trapped in a world of eternal sunset;

The ever surprising imrpovised rock of Projekt Luty, where at all times there has to be at least one person included with no background in music whatsoever; ranging from noise and electronics, to casio backing psychedelic twisted soundscapes,

The mysterious, beautiful piano meanderings captured via dictaphone of Proyect? Moone Jazzers, a musician from western Europe who never told us who he was, sent us these lofi recordings and vanished;

The deconstruction of all that we know about rock music, straight from Deftechnixks;

The layered stream of consciousness synth loops amounting to a chillwave orgasmo from Everywhere Kingdom;

The many faces of Jan Strach, from goth rocker, through intricate meditations over an ocean, to casio melodies for children and full fledged electronified punk rock;

Noises and field-recording drones and collages of Secrets Of The 45, sometimes together with Romania’s Nava Spatiala;

Troglodisco of D.L.A.M.I.A.D., clashing ripped samples with a tact and style of a 12 year old deaf kid with elephant hands.

And as always three bonus tracks for your enjoyment because we love you dearly.

If you dig any of these artists in particular, there are links to their bandcamp accounts when you click on a track.

Cheers and thanks,
Jan Strach

Review

The Dub Vaders could be one of the best kept secrets of the Chilean electronic scene, offering a spectrum of precious tracks linking current and future urban beats, a deep legacy of Dub and some inclination to the dark side of things, that adds a flirty dose of evil to their music.
Herbs & Trips is a brief but resounding trip, where the first two tracks immerse us into an intoxicating cloud that serves as an instruction manual, preparing us for the closure of this magnificent EP, where they allow us to enjoy one of the best electronic tracks released in this part of the world during the current season.

i wanted to make a longer posting, but no one reads it anyways, so i will keep it short:

Thanks to everyone who supported my little Label over the last 10 years. Thanks to you, It grew to one of the most respected techno-netlabels out there. Thanks to the 170 Artists from all over the Globe who were involved. Thanks for now more than 1.000.000 Downloads without any Advertisements or Campaigns. Thanks for all the friends and comrades i found through this project. Music connects. Thanks for all the unforgettable moments. And thanks for all the money we generated through our Sublabel “Limited Edition”. Every Cent went directly to a local Humanitarian Organization. We probably saved lives out there. But we will always keep it low Profile. It’s all about sharing. Thanks. You know who you are. Thanks for all the support in the “dark times” recently. I walk the path of perennial changes with effervescent attitude, but it wasn’t always like that. This EP is a gentle reminder that all the darkness you could go through will dissolve in the healing rain of light eventually. There is no inferno except the one that we create for ourselves… We are spiritual beings experiencing the physical life, not vice versa, and we are here on this planet to enjoy our experiences. “Distance”

Time for a complete change of pace on Kahvi this month. Guest artist ‘Realm’ appears to be an ambient master, and his 7 track, 55 minute album of epic tracks are created purely to allow you to drift on a sea made of glass.

Slow moving, evolving ambient passages kicked off by the fitting introduction track ‘Celestial Resonance’ leads into a little more Lackluster-esque styled track ‘Mentat’ with floating arpeggios diving into the abyss.

For this ambient fan, the epic ‘Sentinel’ is a track to switch off and kick back, in all its 10.5 minutes playing time, and ‘Self Loops and Voices’ reminds me of another ambient master at Kahvi – Curious Inversions.

Enjoy this delicate wind down after summer and watch out for another epic release next month!

The result is a journey between landscapes of ever malleable sound. Drifting from cavernous soundscapes to minimalist beats / atmospheres, at times the guitar ‘scapes, synths and sounds all bleed into each other. Guitars snake through skittering beats, shimmering as they drift back and forth, in and out of focus. Headphones recommended.

##This item is a pre-order and digitally delivers on Oct 16 2015##

There is a history of music stemming from time spent recovering from injury. On such example is Brian Eno’s story of creating ambient music, following a prolonged period being couch bound with a broken leg.

Sustainer’s Radiolas, shares a similar tale of horizontal inspirations.

Whilst recovering from a serious health condition, Alex Alarcón aka Sustainer, began working with a very limited palette of equipment at arms reach. This mix of small recorders, pedals and other electronics become a processing chain through which he started to feed shortwave radio recordings.
Having worked with radio recordings previously it didn’t take long for these recordings to take on a very personal and cathartic aesthetic. “Years ago i used to record things with another shortwave receiver at my parents house,” Alex explains, “because it was near the sea and you could catch easily stations from north of Africa. Sometimes I was even able to reach marine stations from boats crossing the Mediterranean Sea. It was an incredibly inspirational feeling tapping into these streams of sound”

On Radiolas, Sustainer creates a metaphoric ocean of harmonic noise. Waves of frequency collide and lap at the edges of one another. The richness of the material, both in terms of texture and harmonics, invites the listener to sink deep beneath the surface and to become drowned in the intricacy of the interlocking layers of distended radiowaves.

Cinema Noir

“Fernweh”

After an EP (2012), a track (alternative take) in the anniversary compilation (2013), and a CD (2014); the band CINEMA NOIR from Palermo returns with “Fernweh”, a new album of electro post-rock sound with a maturity and a strong inclination towards a precise experimentation magically expressed with songs marked by the major presence of electronic than previous works and without any intention to retrace styles and paths already undertaken over the years. The need to explore new sound spaces and new methods of confrontation are apparent in a collaboration with the band VEIVECURA knowed during their concerts in the summer of 2014, in a track played each other and in the very successful reinterpretation of the song “Alice” from the first EP “Children kill ants” (2012) now electrified and transformed into “Parrots And Palms”; architects of a need for renewal and sudden upgrade of themselves and with few but effective words presenting their album:

Fernweh is nostalgia of places never visited, it’s the uncontrollable desire to leave, travel, explore. This album explores unusual musical lands and at the same time familiar, featuring collaborations and musical exchanges. The album is characterized by post-rock in symbiosis with electronic wisely dosed, trademark of the band that this time he meets a formula not yet experienced by the band: the collaboration with other musicians. The indie-pop VEIVECURA, creates a strange and fascinating musical mix for a two-way comparison (Fernweh and Persepolis)

Ishtar – Starseeds

Ishtar – Starseeds
[SE061]

Ishtar

“Starseeds”

In this short album, genuinely ambient soundscapes melt with touches of acoustic piano, giving birth to ethereal atmospheres and emotional melodies. And above the music, a distant and delicate voice leads the way of this journey, singing mysterious -yet deeply resonating- lyrics. ‘Starseeds’ is a conceptual EP portraying the fascination for distant planets, the ancestral longing for outer worlds, along with a sincere love for Earth.

Mike Cooper – Forbidden Delta Planet Blues

Mike Cooper – Forbidden Delta Planet Blues
[LOR 066]

Mike Cooper

“Forbidden Delta Planet Blues”

Linear Obsessional is delighted to present this album of two recent pieces by the legendary British folk/blues/world/avant garde guitarist Mike Cooper.
“Forbidden Delta Planet Blues” is a long form work built from over lapping loops and featuring some beautiful Hawaiian style slide guitar.
“The Pain Was Bad, But The Tuna Good” is a spellbinding live solo performance recorded at London’s 100 Years Gallery. A solo for a steel resonator guitar (and some voice) which explores all the nuances of the instrument’s considerable cultural baggage, with breathtaking extended technique (bowing, electric fan) and a fascinating stream of invention- it lives up to Cooper’s science fiction/trad interface admirably.

the volume settings folder – the Berlin rehearsal

the volume settings folder – the Berlin rehearsal
[EKR012]

the volume settings folder

“the Berlin rehearsal”

“the volume settings folder” is italian guitarist M. Beckmann’s latest project, consisting in ambient, drone, post-rock music with a bit of field recordings and Noise. He developed a sort of dark ambient/drone style, playing mostly with guitar and analog-effects, than mixing this lo-fi music with field recordings: record, cut, loop, slow down, hide high frequencies. The process takes place in a rush, exploring the most natural ideas and spontaneous inspiration of the artist, taking this work in the field of improvisation music.
This album (live recorded during the rehearsal for the Ekar Records Sunday event in Berlin),bring us back in the almost-foggy countryside of north-east Italy where he is based
and from where the aesthetic, the musical tastes and the philosophy of Ekar records are born.
An essential part of the experiences that were shared are finally present on this sharing-platform.

Ars Sonor

“Sjöarna”

“Sjöarna”… According to the researchers of Högskolan i Gävle, people in Sweden turn to nature instead of religion when going through a major life crisis. “Naturen har blivit det heligaste vi har”, nature has become the holiest that we have… This album, inspired by Swedish nature, was created during the darkest times when it comes to the personal life crisis, and I’m glad that something good came out of it creative-wise as well.
