about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Made Way”

Deftechnixks – Made Way
Jan Strach continues to experiment with accident and randomness in music, with this album trying to find balance between chaos and the creator’s conscious choices.

Each song consists of 5 tracks: Drums, bass, keyboard, guitar, vocals. The recording consisted of recording (in one take) one track for each of the songs, then leaving it for a couple of days in order to forget them. After the pause, another track was recorded listening to the previous ones, in one take, forcing the musician to improvise on the go, in order of instruments given above. The lyrics are in english, which is not my native language, so they only partly have any sense, and partly are based on stream of consciousness and random associations. The title of each song was chosen purposely by the author, based on each song’s lyrics. The album title was randomly chosen by generating random two words from all the lyrics. The main theme of the cover – a possum – was also chosen in random from all lyrics. The rest was added based on random associations. Thw hole was then colored by Jan Strach and his 2-year old son. The writings on the cover made with left hand, with closed eyes.

Music wise, of course, the album adheres to the most of Underpolen offerings: amateurish, noisy and charming.

“Visions Blinking in and out of Desire and Un-Desire”

Desire
The canadian psycho folk singer Dora Bleu performs with russian electro acoustic artists Alexei Borisovand Olga Nosova on a special live concert on August 24, 2009 at Genialistude Klubi in Tartu (Estonia), where songs follow their own inner sense of narrative time. The songs follow their own inner sense of narrative time. The guitar playing is sparse, tense, suggestively melodic, sometimes dissonant. The vocals contribute to uneven compositions filled with stark silences. The songs intend to violate the concept of genre, to infuse storytelling and text with trauma, vulnerability and the raw and unprotected and intensely emotional. The lyrics explore the darker caverns of the psyche, in the places of experience where the capitalist war state replenishes itself.

John Love – White Sessions

[LOR030]

John Love

“White Sessions”

John Love – White Sessions
When David Teboul of the extraordinary ambient outfit “Linear Bells” approached me with a view to releasing an album on my netlabel, I found myself with an unexpected dilemma. I told David that whilst I would be delighted to release some of his music, I had a problem in that I could envisage “Linear Bells” as potentially being seen as the Linear Obsessional “house band”. I may have been unduly cautious, but instead I offered David a commission – to do something different from Linear Bells under a different name.

I’m delighted that David rose to the challenge and got past my paranoia to produce something rather special, under the name John Love. “White Sessions” is not an ambient album, it’s a little uncomfortable for that – at times it veers into noise territory, and manages to push together some unfamiliar and unlikely sonic textures into some satisfying new shapes. These laminal constructions are unsettling in their persistence and compelling in their mood, and they suit this label very well. Take your time.

“Forget The Theory”

Nature – Forget The Theory
“Forget The Theory” features two arrangements and five original pieces written by Kevin Higgins for his group Nature – a quartet with voice, electric guitar, electric bass and drums. The material was honed in a dozen live performances, then recorded over two days in spring 2012. The result is an album of dark grooves, mixing techno, funk and dubstep with contemporary jazz.

In the foreground, ethereal vocals and frenzied guitar carry on an improvised dialogue. “Forget The Theory” captures the energy of their alternating conflict and cooperation. Behind them there’s tension of another kind, as club-inspired drum beats threaten to melt into jazz cross-rhythms.

This album was built off basslines: some abstract and symmetrically structured, some just funky. Either way, every tune was designed to make you nod your head. Enjoy the bouncy pulse and powerful perfomances of a young band playing with passion.

Nature is:

Georgia Cusack – voice
Chris Guilfoyle – electric guitar
Kevin Higgins – bass guitar
Tommy Gray – drums

All compositions by Kevin Higgins except “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues” by Skip James and “I Remember You” by Victor Schertzinger and Johnny Mercer. Lyrics in “Mic Check” by Kevin Higgins. Lyrics in “In The Techno Tent” and “Extraordinary Vibe” by Georgia Cusack.

Recorded by Michael Buckley. Mixed by Shane Glynn and Kevin Higgins. Mastered by Scott Halliday.

Buskerdroid vs Microman

“RAW!RAW!RAW!”

Buskerdroid vs Microman – RAW!RAW!RAW!
The new record released by Sostanze Records overturns the 8 bit duo Buskerdroid and Microman. The power of the tracks is a show made up of sound images, characterized by a dogging and unexpected rhythm.
After a long work looking for a precise technique and a style that excited the Rome eletronic music scene, the duo has reached the leadership for its gender.
All tracks are composed and played with one Gameboy DMG01 running Lsdj software, there’s no VST or samples, no preset loops, no extra effects or post production. It’s just the Gameboy’s audio chip, screaming out loud. RAW RAW RAW is a release Sostanze Records is proud to publish, carrying forward the idea according to which expertise and quality can move freely on the web without dialing the numbers of your prepaid cards, realizing the dream of every music lover and above all spreading a positive message in a context nowadays more and more slave of the commercial logics. on their first album for pan y rosas they use various percussion instruments; wind instruments; and the sound of their environment – friends and family, water, wind, bonfire, etc. all these elements combine to form a bridge between ritual and improvisation. objects. night. voice. wind. sparse. rattle. quietly passing through the gateless gate.
