The topic of this EP is the state of being, the shifts in thinking and the question of identity, when the country you were born in does no longer exist on the political map of the world. Thoughts on this topic were gathered from various Lithuanian artists in order to compose this EP, which was initially a performance for a group exhibition “I Was Born in a Country That No Longer Exists” presented in 2017, in Duisburg, Germany.

M.A.K.T. Sono – Magali Albespy and Kecap Tuyul – was created in february 2018 from a common taste for improvisation forms that rely more on indetermination and surprise than on the mastering of instrumental skills. They both use electronic tools whose complex settings can generate unexpected sound events and unstable situations. Their first album “If you were a clarinet” consists of 3 selections of slightly edited improvisations recorded in february and march 2018. These improvisation sessions were an opportunity for them to set up their working methodologies and to experiment playful and meditative dialogs between gesture & sound, activity and inactivity, machines and living creatures.

Magali Albespy is a dancer and performer. She likes to question the borders between formats and artistic disciplines. She explores real-time composition with body, video and sound.
Self-taught improviser Kecap Tuyul uses various (and preferably unstable) tools, looking for ways of playing and interacting (with sounds, with other media, with other people) and questionning the traditional ideas of instrumental mastership and composition.

“Gradient Descent” is the fourth Metalogue EP. Exploring variations on a single melodic theme, the record travels from dark cavernous ambience to precise digital structures, crossing through sweeping synthetic textures and industrial claustrophobia along the way.

Gradient Descent was written and performed for a Chaos Theory event headlined by Jarboe and Farther Murphy, at St Pancras Old Church, London on 23rd October 2017. The piece features custom made electro-acoustic instruments, field recordings and live electronics. The release on Abstrakt Reflections is a studio arrangement of the original material, integrating additional sound design and layers of live sound from the church performance.

Part III is based on microtonal synthesizer excerpts, whereas Part IV is an unreleased screwed edit of an sample loop taken from a live recording by Margitt Holzt.
