The dialect of a dialect.
Here comes the debut of OMBRA OBSCVRA, a musician from Valencian region in Europe. The artist plays with light detuning, portamento, piano, as if the world was in constant uncertainty. A relaxed base makes it possible to have an overview position, while distant bells of the night offer attention.
Cyff Gwawd is Stuart Estell, a piano, and a couple of barely-functional tape machines. The project draws on his love of Satie, Cage, Feldman and Basinski while also being a logical step from his compositions for drone/doom tuba outfit ORE, which he left in 2014. Cyff Gwawd is named in tribute to Mark Hollis. It means “Laughing Stock” in Welsh.
The pieces on this release started as miniatures, some of the material freely composed, and some of it restricted to sets of just four pitch classes. In performance, however, they took on a life of their own and didn’t seem to want to be constrained to what had been written down — resulting in what might be better described as planned improvisations.
The same side of the same C90 — an old and far-from-clean TDK SA90, naturally — was used to record all four pieces. The older cassette machine’s completely unreliable motor and faulty tape head resulted in some happy accidents (speed changes, incomplete erasure) that would be impossible to reproduce. Apart from EQ, some additional reverb and the occasional overlaying of additional tracks (from the same source material), the only editing here has been structural. t16c is a duo formed by underground Slovak musicians. Two friends, Peter Kudlička (16 colours, EGA) and Andrej Nechaj (Tatratank) have been making music for over 20 years. t16c is a natural result of their unceasing commitment to diverse sonics.

For me, it is wonderfully bittersweet to release “Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)” by Cousin Silas & Candy L so close to Candy’s birthday … I’m not sure how old she would have been if she had not lost her battle against cancer and, to be honest, it doesn’t matter … what matters is that the world and our wee community of DIY ambient musicians is considerably poorer for her not being with us.
“Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)” was created in collaboration between the adorably prolific Cousin Silas and Candy, who somehow managed to fit in recording her parts to their album while running a netlabel that I, for one, was equally proud and envious of. Candy’s work ethic was unparalleled, as was her creative expression. The atmospheric expressions contained within this album are truly extraordinary, they are varied and engaging … and serve to remind us how much poorer we are for not having Candy in our midst.
This album was earmarked for release on Candy’s label – Studio 4632 – but wasn’t released due to Candy’s untimely passing. I don’t think I am alone in thinking that Candy would not have wanted it to languish on the digital equivalent of a dusty shelf, Cousin Silas certainly didn’t think so when he offered it to waag. I am proud to give this album a home and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

TVS is a musical project born in 2018 to create an interaction between traditional instruments and electronic music, through live performances and compositions of Ambient Music, Experimental & Dark Ambient Music.
Teresa its a Flutist, Composer and Performer.
After a classical music education, she start to work with contemporary music, interaction with electronic music, instrumental improvisation, creation of sound environments for literary readings and projects involving interaction between various disciplines of art.
Her music combine experimental, atmospheric and synthetic sounds in a Dark Ambient sonority with touches of Deep Techno.
Spectra collide in synergy in “white project” – the essential result of the continuous collaboration between Phlippe “nobodisoundz” Neau and Walter Fini, which began a few years back. The release comprises of 3 compositions that revolve around the deafening and conflicting relationship that man has with nature, the dominant force and protagonist of our doings. The sounds shine through and envelope our daily lives totally, in a deafening, chaotic way. White as the color, which absorbs everything, which contains everything, wrapped in nothing. White is a sheet, where instinctive sound dimensions take shape, where a simultaneously abstract and concrete vision takes us to the ancestral roots of the human being.
