about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Dislocations

“Planetary Dislocations”

Dislocations – Planetary Dislocations
Planetary Dislocations” is a journey through space, from lush garden worlds to barren exoplanets. It is a sonic landscape intent on portraying inconceivably far away places and unimaginable circumstances, a dream about intelligence, technology and the future.

Simulations of random behaviour lead us through an artificial organic space. The machines become our nature, as we venture into the abyss.

(Music For Silence, Synthesizer & Voice)

The four parts of this composition are titled as follows:

I: This Ov That (Can Be Heard)
II: Dawn Raised With A Gesture Of Submission
III: Irchin
IV: Piano Rage (Nod2TerreThaemlitz)

Editorial remarks:
Part II is an electroacoustic rendition of fragments taken from »Odyssey To Anyoona« by Jam & Spoon (JAM!/Dance Pool, 1994), fully developed on the harmonium as a sole instrument.

Part III is based on microtonal synthesizer excerpts, whereas Part IV is an unreleased screwed edit of an sample loop taken from a live recording by Margitt Holzt.

Rephazer – Sketches in between the Noise
Rephazer appeared on Kahvi with a similar styled release previously last year, created on a single instrument but with all the hallmarks of what makes nostalgic idm so great. And he’s back, with what could be a sequel with some new tracks making up a seven track EP.

Shortwave will be familiar to some, after appearing on our Boards of Canada inspired VA last year, but check out Between for one of the most catchy subtle analogue sounds I’ve heard for quite some time.

“Autómatas Sonoros”

Various – Autómatas Sonoros
The content of this work is a response to what I consider to be one of the main myths about music, in the context of my (and the rest of the composers in this compilation) current hometown.
This Idea primarily circulates around the people, projects, groups and etc. that best adhere to a popular music paradigm.

The romantic idea I’m referring to is the existence of an actual performer (in the more traditional sense performer – instrument) for the music itself to have value.

To which we respond with this tracks.

Autómatas Sonoros was first and foremost an acousmatic music concert presented at the Adolfo Prieto school in Monterrey Mexico on September 2 2017.
The concert was part of a series of retribution events organized by Raúl Guerra Jimenez as a winner for the 2015 PECDA Jovenes Creadores prize.

Ölü Körpē vol. 2 – Mira, la bruja no esta quemada

Track list:
1. My Lai, 1968
2. Yes, Vomit Comet.
3. Possibilities are Endless; Train Stations, Airports, Foreign Lands

So much had happened since my last collection of sounds. I decided to “embark” to new, unfriendly shores with drones, noises, and a bit of pseudo free-jazz. Not as melodic as “Travel,” I reckon, but no less fun.

As far as subject matter goes, “Mira, la bruja no esta quemada” (which means “look, the witch is unburnt” in english, by the way) rolls around things that can’t go away no matter how hard we wish them to disappear; maybe the mundane (desire to travel) or the somewhat heavy (massacre and cover-ups).

Please, do use headphones/headsets while listening to the tunes. There are some interesting movements there. Don’t forget to drink some water and watch the witch go unburnt.

Pirata – En el aire estoy
Review
Pirata – En el aire estoy

Antonio Díaz better known as Pirate, is an electronic music producer who lives in Los Lagos, Chile, and who has always been bound to sounds more ambient, IDM, minimal and dub, is now presenting a surprising EP called ‘En el aire estoy’. The journey starts with the track ‘El Pantano Invisible’ with ambient and minimal surrounding noises, a marked bass drum and several reminiscences of the English electronic sounds of the 90’s such as those of F.S.O.L. or The Orb but at the same time maintaining the originality of the sound that distinguishes us. The second track, that gives name to the EP, includes more atmospheric sounds and a beat closer to IDM. With this track, Pirata shows his exponential growth through complete command of softwares and machines he uses to compose. Moving forward to the next song “Espacio On”, we find a galloping beat with atmospheres and a profound sample similar to a mantra. Later we run into ‘Galeno’ in which Pirata shows clear influences of the German electronic sound of the 80’s. The following song is ‘Imperio Lúdico’. In this one, Pirata, who won the French prize ‘Qwartz Electronic Music’ in 2009 under the category ‘Discovery’, comes back to calmer and more ambient sounds with voices that weave together and glitch sounds that always characterize his music. Finishing this trip with ‘Imperio Lúdico’, Pirata invites us to explore in his EP ‘En el aire estoy’ diverse sounds, influences and an extremely high-level production that has allowed him to position himself as one of the most remarkable exponents of the national electronic music.

Only one permanent member (Achmad Luthfi), Ölü Körpē – “dead baby” in Azerbaijan – creates and carries instrumental/ambient/noise. The material ideas are based on readings and spectacles that are resistant to confusion, discomfort and jumble because that is what happens when a person is confronted with a strange situation; a dead baby.

Fabio Keiner – Autumn Elegies
A warm cold amniotic and cathartic liquid, find yourself on the edge of a wood, feel the leaves play for us. Ambient, neo classical, are just two of the adjectives we could give for this music by the composer Fabio Keiner, a master in creating atmospheres carved in Carrara marble or in the water of a lake at the passage of a swan. Fabio is Austrian and visiting his bandcamp https://fabiokeiner.bandcamp.com, you will discover a fantastic world of a true sonorous and visionary magician that will take you very far. We are honored to be able to publish a record of a musician of such stature, able to capture the heart as few, but above all to make the mind fly for a high-level ambient.

“Trip to Proxima B”

Various – Trip to Proxima B
This years VA Christmas release has a space theme. Taking you from here to far away Proxima B, being space themed we have some epic ambient passages (drifting through space) mixed in with some IDM beats and melodical work (as if a transmission from earth fades in, and you’re able to break the silence and tranquility).

As usual a showcase of unreleased artists, the best submissions of the year. A particular favourite track is by Rephazer, which is a remix of Honeyboy Edwards ‘Catfish Blues’. This is featured with special permission of Document Records, and I think it’s fantastic and fits the theme of the whole VA perfectly.

Enjoy this amazing compilation and see you in 2018!
