“5SSENCE”
Absorbed in music for about 20 years, with many solo and collaborative releases, MR.SMiFF is continuing to experiment with various musical forms and styles. He is deeply immersed in observation of feelings, emotions, psychology and behaviors, in constant search of new means of musical expression, through old and new technologies. “5SSENCE”, his debut release on Mahorka, is inspired by the alchemy and recent personal experiences. The music has been influenced by and bears the same name as Neda Ruzheva’s audio-visual-dance performance, for which MR.SMiFF performs the music live. The five pieces follow the alchemical processes and correspond to different elements and senses. Through the use of slow and trippy ambient movements, the composer tries to freeze the time or delay moments indefinitely, with the glitchy twists and surprises interfering as result of unexpected and compressed reactions of the unpredictable interfusion of the “elements” – both in alchemical and psychological aspects.

How do you think life originated?
Since bacteria were underwater, the first step in evolution was a mistake.
Thus all the steps that have led to evolution and survival have been errors and accidents: a deformation caused the bacteria to perceive light and develop eyes.
That genetic line survived, and it reproduced by inheriting its genes.
There have been errors in the genetic lines that allow organisms to perceive more information from their environment. By perceiving more information, they are able to survive and develop, protect themselves, and even manipulate this environment.
Natural selection and evolution are just mistakes…
Glitches in genetic systems.
Maybe it has no purpose at all.
We are all the result of a series of mistakes … We are all the result of a series of glitches.
Amotken presents his 4th album: “Life’s A Glitch“, the result of a two-year exploration where a synergy fusion between organic textures and digital and analog glitches takes place. Where electricity adjoins a wooden body and strings to explode in endless textures and changes, taking the narrative through the most innocuous places.

R.A. was one of the label’s first artists, with his last release “The Sprawl” in 2004, and his debut album to the labels earliest days in 1999. Thuoom is back from studio hiatus with his 7th full-length album, Organism. The sounds used on this record consist 100% of glitches. More precisely, the original sounds were produced by misusing a sound card and manipulating signal live during a practice session, soundcheck, and live performance (Ambient Evening Trashure Islands, Parainen, Finland) in November 2018. For the album, these sounds were then further mutated in a true Thuoom fashion.

A.d.du.nord is a musician who doesn’t work in a particular style but is guided by ideas of the moment without feeling compelled to maintain a single sound aesthetic. His first releases have been a few minimalist drone tracks published in 2018. He now aims to create some kind of “post-music” that is “strange and dysfunctional”. In short, a.d.du.nord is a project for free experimentation, where everything is possible.
Sana Grano is some kind of mixtape that gathers ten one minute long improvised sequences created with granular synthesis tools. The choice of samples was purely intuitive, and the results are partially aleatory. But if you listen between the lines, you may find reminscences of dub and afrobeat.

“Tethered”
“Tethered” is Blockdata‘s first EP on Abstrakt Reflections. The EP digs into a variety of tempos and styles including lush analogue synth beds, foley recordings, haunting soundscapes, digitally sharpened rhythmics and some processed acoustic instrumentation at points.
Most of the synthetic instruments were created by Blockdata from the ground up over a number of years using Native Instruments Reaktor and the foley/acoustic instrumentation was made using a simple field recorder.
The EP includes six original Blockdata compositions and 2 excellent remixes from Ivan Shopov and Lokom.
