about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Ministik

“Meridian”

Ministik – Meridian
Maximal techno and beyond. Filled with polyrhythmic melodies and offscale sounds, precisely controlled bass-lines, massive kicks and sharp percussions.

Scratchy analog electronic ruminations from a quiet veteran Ministik, that ebb and flow like natural processes of evolution, growth or/and decay.

Perception and alienation, with (re)use of techniques, sources, and designs are the main features in his work expressing the world as the artist sees it.

Strange shifting rhythms, finely shaped clouds of noise, and distant techno patterns. Ministik is not a normal DJ. This craftsman will invite you to lose yourself in the depths of the abstract sounds and surreal melodies on concrete based drum patterns.

“Trip to Proxima B”

Various – Trip to Proxima B
This years VA Christmas release has a space theme. Taking you from here to far away Proxima B, being space themed we have some epic ambient passages (drifting through space) mixed in with some IDM beats and melodical work (as if a transmission from earth fades in, and you’re able to break the silence and tranquility).

As usual a showcase of unreleased artists, the best submissions of the year. A particular favourite track is by Rephazer, which is a remix of Honeyboy Edwards ‘Catfish Blues’. This is featured with special permission of Document Records, and I think it’s fantastic and fits the theme of the whole VA perfectly.

Enjoy this amazing compilation and see you in 2018!

Thuoom – reCycle 2
As Thuoom closes his second grand cycle in order to begin a studio hiatus, there are two compilation albums released simultaneously.

“reCycle 2 is a compilation album that draws together a bunch of unreleased tunes that I composed during my second grand cycle (2013-2017). These 13 tracks didn’t fit on any album I released during this period but deserve to be out there nevertheless, showcasing different sides of my style of electroacoustic music.”

Cialyn – The Lone Thistle
Kahvi Christmas 2017. The second in our Christmas lineup is another classic sentimentality driven EP from our favourite Boards of Canada inspired artist – Cialyn.

Eight tracks of blissful moody and subtle beats, off key leads and nostalgic pads, marking a delicate and warming audio treat for the Christmas season.

Number Eleven – Strict

Number Eleven – Strict
[EEM025]

Number Eleven

“Strict”

Number Eleven – Strict
Damaged with disorders, constant reconstructions, and wrong decisions, while losing the ability to dictate your own rules, Strict falls into a state of attacking everything that could lead to a failure, introducing a crude self-defense mechanism of attacking everything that is interfering with principles of existence. All this has the potential of destroying all bonds and connections, dismissing the opportunities, just to find the cause of disorders, ripping every reason of existence just to have an answer.

Regained, recuperated anger and blasts combined with illogical analytic attacks, resulting in a powerful complex forge of rhythmic structures which are hard to stand and fathom, coupled with the angry synthesis of orchestral and electronic surges of extreme insanity and sadness put at the precision of a scalpel.

“Sei Shin-Byoin”

Kinza – Sei Shin-Byoin
An interesting and slightly different release this time from guest artist Kinza.

Some elements of oldskool 90s techno appear in this quirky but refreshingly interesting 6 track EP, even some kind of avante garde (reminiscent of some John Cage-type) nuances, but they all ‘add up’ into a nice, cohesive track… challenging to begin with, yet drawing you in as they progress.

Track of choice is Here we go again, which starts off in a very oldskool melody kind of way, then moves into small breaks and then ends with a mix of c64 sounding arpeggios and a 4/4. Great stuff!

InSpectr – Kaspar Nemo
Mysterious and almost mythical substance that lives deep under water of earth’s electronic oceans. It designs synthetic sound sculptures on regular basis. It’s compositions are dynamic rhythmic patterns combined with emotional melodies and various digital effects. Few it’s creatures are captured in our nets and presented in this release.

Yomgaille

“Repetition and Motion”

Yomgaille – Repetition and Motion
It’s been a long while since Kahvi went back to it’s roots, and this guest artist defines the sound that made Kahvi originally.

Oldskool tracks brought up to the 21st Century (yes, Kahvi started in the 20th Century!) with the latest synths and sounds, but in a similar style to the old tracker scene that kicked off back in the late 80s.

Yomgaille with his EP Repetition and motion shows there are plenty of diverse textures and themes from those days, but the oldskool vibe is there throughout, giving you a taste of nostalgia if you’re familiar of those bygone days, or a fresh example if you’re a newbie. For this oldskooler, tracks A, B, C bring back that reminder of the good old days in the late 80s when trackers ruled the scene.

“My Steps Lead Backwards”

Macronoise – My Steps Lead Backwards
Easy listening from Prague now, from guest artist Macronoise. The closest definition I can get for the style is somewhere between the 60s pop and Solar Fields (a familiar face on Kahvi).

Professionally mixed, very listenable and easy to get into, and some diverse themes make this short four track EP a worthy addition to the Collective.

“Beats And Stabs And Kick In Four”

Fingerflood – Beats And Stabs And Kick In Four
Fingerflood is an electronic music project born as a part of the many musical extensions of Gaetano Fontanazza.

What we have in this debut release, named “Beats and Stabs and Kick in Four,” is the strong intent to basically dive into the fat obscure electronic moods of dub techno, somehow near to the Berlin scene if you like. The release has an ideal split in the middle of its playlist, switching from dub techno to more dub idm-oriented tracks.

Palm Era – Gimo

Palm_Era (Claudio Cisterna) is a chilean producer from Santiago. A long-standing electronic music producer, he had been publishing under the netlabel Impar and the record label U-Cover from Belgium under the alias Flipper, a project that is closer to IDM. Later under the alias ‘Chiodata’, he immerses himself more into the experimental side of music and releases some of his works under the Irish record label Fort Evil Fruits and Cocodriller. He has also developed other projects such as ‘Jon Claudio’, a fusion between electronic music and Krautrock. Palm_Era released his album called ‘Coincidental’ under the record label Illuminated Paths from Florida, USA in 2015. He has also collaborated in compilations that have been released by the netlabel Modismo and netlabel Epasonidos. These days, he is presenting ‘Gimo’, his first publication under Modismo which travels between diverse rhythms built with complex and yet innovative structures. ‘Gimo’ essentially takes us into a profound and flavorful trip where basslines and synths that are analogically worked combine. In this work, Palm_Era reveals his good taste and skills. The way to approach percussion in this record excels due to its production duty and Latino sense. Samples lead to a trance that is hard to get rid of and melodies gleams at the right time, as well as the details in experimentation. All this results in a very refreshing and futuristic album that will stand out in time without a doubt.

Rephazer – Holiday Mixtape
There’s no doubting that todays music technology is powerful and versatile and Rephazer shows us how powerful with his EP he called the ‘Holiday Mixtape’

And it’s just that, a mixtape (or sketches) created while on holiday at the various locations in the track names (I’m guessing). Created entirely on one single piece of Swedish Engineered hardware (from the guys that made the Sidstation way back when) called the OP-1 (for those listeners interested).

Rephazer creates some fantastic moody, detailed and atmospheric Boards of Canada inspired tracks. Perhaps from the same sound palette for each track, but all with a chilled out vibe. Summer is drawing to a close but kick back and relax beside the pool listening to Rephazer!

Roedor – Simbiosis
