about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Miro, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

TRIGGER

“the fire throws”

Chris Heenan: contrabass clarinet
Matthias Müller: trombone
Nils Ostendorf: trumpet

The Berlin-based improvising wind trio Trigger was formed in 2009 and works on creating a unitary sound of discrete sonic layers. Through the use of multiphonics, circular breathing, and other extended techniques, Trigger forges a music of gradual depth with sudden shifts in texture and mood. The current direction of the trio is long continuous masses of sound and utilizing site-specific resonances of performance spaces.

Process Geschäftsführer

“Und Indem Halbraum Gestalten”

In 2008 Hardy Küster and Evgenij Dvorkin got to know each other at the legendary Avantgarde Festival in Schiphorst, Germany. Here they decided to create music together as “Process Geschäftsführer” by exchanging sonic materials via the internet.
Und Indem Halbraum Gestalten is the first album of this surrealistic collaboration. Names which have been found by chance of operation. An experience like a painting being scanned and transformed into sound or an arts installation with rooms and rooms inside of the rooms to get lost in. Newton meets new tone.

“lp1”

marina poleukhina is a composer and improviser based in moscow. her musical focus lies in composition and improvisation on various objects and the instability of sound; silence and silence as the sound; real life and real life as sound. amongst others she is inspired by ligeti, nono, feldman, waits, yoshihide, and hosseini.

her first album, simply titled lp1, is a collection of improvisations and compositions. it sounds kind of like: pulse flute flutter and trills. warble pops and muttering percussion. dropped cymbals. conversation in cries and rolls. natural space. quiet exploration of scraped vibrations. surface areas calculated. squeaks and hoarse voicings. thunder and roar, guttural friction and noise. everything at once. voice in the woods. quiet patience. strum rewards.

“Ayana is definitely your most esoteric work to date, but is also highly concise In its reflection of your influences and ideas. I don’t think anyone, anywhere, manages to cohesively entwine free jazz and Middle Eastern sounds in a beautiful way as you do! Your art expands the definitions of music, let alone the confines of electronic and sample-based music…”

The material, recorded not long after the first album, represents a different face of Momo and Jan Strach: This time the band presents more song-orientedforms, awkwardly yet charmingly juggling styles and feelings. More or less rocking songs struggle between folk, disco, southern rythms and even punk. Momo on vocals in songs 1 and 6.

sarah j ritch – string theory
[pyr048]

sarah j ritch

“string theory”

sarah j ritch is a composer and improviser from chicago whose interest in classical composition arose from both her studies in piano and cello as well as explorations of the guitar and bass in punk and metal bands in las vegas between 1996 and 2003. she eventually landed in chicago and earned a bachelor of music from roosevelt university and a post-baccalaureate certificate in sound from the school of the art institute of chicago. she has been the composer-in-residence for chicago classical ensembles the millennium chamber players and anaphora, and regularly performs solo and with her free improv group sound collision alliance.

on her debut album, string theory, sarah displays her interest in both improvised noise and notated tonal music as she explores the acoustic structures of strings and sines. over the course of the album electronically treated cello gives way to droning and pizzicato violin; a pure drone at the center resolves itself with a rising and falling violin sonata; and a cello converses with itself in woodtones.

TREEOFO – 22 EP

TREEOFO

“22 EP”

Its rustling. Dripping. Playing. It makes zzz.
Moving in lines. Sounds are traveling. Hopefully melancholy.
It seems to be always the same persons, which are fighting in mind. Keeping Silence. A prospecting of Sound?
Views are floating, its still a Trial. Elusive.
A Saxophon tells us. And Trains. And a Piano… which could never decide!
If there is a possibility of listening waves beating? Or do they rythm the beat?

And when Acid becomes Jazz?

Nunun

“Seven Mirrors”

“Seven mirrors” is the first ambient album by Nunun. With Massimo Discepoli playing synths and keyboards instead of drums, and Cesare Discepoli more electronically treated than usual guitar, in these seven improvisations the duo explores many different sonic textures and moods. Haunting melodies and weird dissonances, celestial soundscapes and earthy distortions, countless melodic fragments and free improvisations, this is music for both the intellect and the soul.
The album cover is an original work of italian painter Nascar; the album will be soon available in a special printed edition

Anton Mobin

“Collision at Epsilonia”

Sound artist and radio producer, the sound recording and the sound effects are the essential elements of his work of composition. Born in 1979, Anthony Baron lives in Paris and works where the improvisation and the sound creation is going full swing in the world. It is under the name of Anton Mobin that he produces his radio creations and that he occurs on stage. Anton Mobin’s sound activities evolve in two universes: the improvised music and the radio art. He defines himself his initiative in the continuity of the concrete music: his approach is directed on the listening of the sounds of the everyday life and their use in the radio composition, to develop an “extensive” concrete music.

Collision at Epsilonia (January 12, 2012)

Live performance for the Radio Programme Epsilonia dedicated to experimental music. It is broadcasted each thursday on Radio Libertaire, Paris / France (89.4 FM) from 22PM to midnight (GMT+1)

Claudio Nunez

“Nada es para todos”

“Nada es para todos” use the same procedures than my prior “orchestral albums” : piling up layers of overdubbed lines that I composed in real time as I play all the instrument with the spontaneus interaction tipically found in free jazz, without any prevous ideas about the melodies, rhythms, harmonies, styles, etc… The only exception is track 3 which is a collage of a melodica track cut in 3 parts and stack up like a fake counterpoint in the Frank Zappa’s xenocronicity style.” Claudio Nunez
