about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Roberto Vodanović Čopor

“Lost Weekend”

“Lost weekend” is the latest project of Croatian artist Roberto Vodanović Čopor, that uses field recordings of local people’s speech, underwater hydrophone recordings and contact microphone recordings to explore the diversity of sounds and the identity of the island of Vis.

Through experimentation with the collected audio elements, the artist has created a sound map of the island, showing its uniqueness and encourages listeners to get a deeper understanding of this special place through this work.

Undersea hydrophone recordings bring the sounds of the deep and the life in the waters around Vis. Through the sounds of marine organisms, air bubbles, noise currents and other sound phenomena, listeners get an insight into the diversity of the undersea. Contact microphone recordings of vibrations and sounds transmitted through the metal surfaces of the ferry connecting the island and the mainland were can also be heard – engine sounds, passenger footsteps and other characteristic sounds.

Released July 4, 2023

All field recordings, contact microphone and hydrophone recordings, as well as recordings of various objects/sources were done by Roberto Vodanović Čopor.

FROM THE AUTHOR:

This archive is a collection of soundtracks from videos which I produced during the first decades of the 21st Century. Taped Rugs has never previously released any of these recordings in audio-only format (*). Given the right person in the right frame of mind, each of these recordings should be able to inspire mental imagery comparable or superior to the videos for which they were produced. I intentionally did not include internet links to the specific videos which accompany the recordings in this compilation. However, anyone interested in seeking out those videos can find them by carefully searching through the collection at the link below:

This archive was compiled in response to a request for Taped Rugs Productions to participate in “Netlabel Day,” July 14, 2023. Please visit the link below for more information about Netlabel Day:

Various Artists

“20th Anniversary Album”

Welcome to the 20th anniversary compilation of Upitup Records, a label that has been dedicated to promoting experimental music and providing a platform for electronic artists from all over the world for two decades. To celebrate this milestone, Upitup Records is releasing a 20-year compilation featuring entirely new and unreleased tracks, from our long-time friends Drone, JFrank, Satori, The Courier, Global Goon and Büromaschinen to name a few. This compilation is a celebration of the label’s history and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of free music.

From ambient soundscapes to glitchy beats, from noise experiments to avant-garde electro, this collection showcases the diversity and creativity that has made Upitup Records such an important part of the netlabel and free music scene.

In addition to the compilation album, we are also releasing Upitup Forever – a mobile app for both Android and iOS. The app was designed and built for our fans to listen to their favorite tracks on the go. It also features exclusive content such as hand-selected playlists as well as a genre-based shuffle mode to discover the depth of our 20 year long running catalogue.

We would like to thank all of the artists who have contributed to this compilation, as well as all of the listeners who have supported Upitup Records over the years. Here’s to another 20 years of boundary-pushing music!
