Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. Sebastian Herrera – Portal

Sebastian Herrera – Portal
[pn207]

Sebastian Herrera

“Portal”

“I would like to make a Book that upsets men, that is like an open door and that leads them where they would never have consented to go, simply a door facing Reality.” – Artaud, Antonin. “El Ombligo de los Limbos/El pesa-nervios / The Navel of Limbos/The Nerve-weigher” (1925).

“How can you make the sound of a drop of water with synthesis…” – Maybe I could explain it employing academia, university knowledge or with the aid of YouTube or Wikipedia, but the truth is that I don’t know… for me sound is magic, from how it is produced to the manner through which it reaches our neurons, from how an apparatus plugged into an electrical current is capable of sounding like a musical instrument to how a turntable functions… and what can be said of digital sound… that It’s already black magic, magic-bits, magic-magic. But that question formulated by Ben (Bridet) in one of the first meetings in Sebastián Herrera‘s workshop, was the starting point of a sequence of random events that finally materialized in what you will hear in approximately 25 minutes, when you open (the) “Portal”, or even open the mind/ears to the journey that this sound convenes.

Like the Skylab offering its last signs of life before rushing into the Australian desert, Sebastián’s proposal starts with sounds from space, satellites, shooting stars, descending glissandos, and then begins a route accompanied by a constant beat, which secretly propels us towards different rhythmic environments, all of it growing until it ends in a brief pause in the middle of the track where synthetic sounds and percussions emerge between clouds of feedback delays, to then approach the final part with short and aggressive sound apparitions and impulses, repetitive and mechanical, accompanied by ghostly trumpets of the apocalypse announcing the final fall/ascension.

Welcome to the world of sound Sebastián, you discovered a half-open portal and you dared to cross it, with the compass of sensitivity and curiosity, well wrapped up, you opened a path with no turning back.

Somatoast – Creation is Creation

Somatoast – Creation is Creation

Somatoast

“Creation is Creation”

||: creation is creation :||

It is said the universe is always expanding from the initial force of the big bang. But how do we experience this expansion on a personal, human level? Creation is Creation postulates that it is this single force of expansion which drives all creation, creativity, evolution and growth– both physical and spiritual.

We experience and aid in the expansion of the universe through our ability to be creative not only by way of art and intellect, but through sex and reproduction, death and decay.

Creation is self-referencing, self-propelling, and ever expanding upon itself. Hence the all-encompassing, cyclic or spiral nature of the statement “creation is creation…”

Artistic and intellectual creativity are the expansion and evolution of consciousness. Sexual creativity is the physical expansion and evolution of species. Both are driven by the force of the big bang, and both are ways in which we tangibly experience this ancient force as more than a simple theory of the distant past.

As beings of and among this force, we have the gift of harnessing it in various ways we may perceive to be mundane, but are alchemical nonetheless.

As the lyrics read:

“The soil that nurtures the flowers. The space that inspires your craft. The mood you set for your lover. The places that foster our children. The force that expands…”

KNARZ Maschine – Acid KNARZ EP

KNARZ Maschine – Acid KNARZ EP
[P099]

KNARZ Maschine

“Acid KNARZ EP”

Next up on the ever busy digital imprint that is known as Psychocandies is the “Acid Knarz EP”, the latest three track single by the somewhat mysterious producer named Knarz Maschine. Opening with “Acid Knarz 3” we see Knarz Maschine on a slightly psychedelic, tripped out Techno tip accompanied by weird, creepy soundscapes seeping through from the offset otherworld whereas the subsequent “Acid Knarz 2” pulls off a somewhat warped and wobbling, eerily shifting variation of Broken Techno both reminiscent of psycho horror and a hyperdark variation of early Knarz tracks brought forward by the (sub)genres inventor Thomas P. Heckmann before the final cut aptly named “Acid Knarz 1” brings on hounded, relentless and well whipping uptempo Techno for rave floors lit by strobes on maximum speed, sending punters to a new dimension with the addition of a whirling, ever spiralling PsychoAcid sequence which introduces the next level of intensity at its first appearance around mid-track and therefore turns this final one into our favorite cut out of the three featured on this single.

[VULP-0213]

Brevyn

“Waterwalk – Extended”

Brevyn graces the keys again with the same elegant imagination we have seen across numerous releases. More than ever, there is a neoclassical feel to the New Age underpinnings: the sound of a romantic soloist operating an elaborate, Atlantean cathedral organ made of hundreds of winding coral pipes. A suite many shades of blue, traversed by ripples and shafts of light, forms patterns and reflective mirages that are entirely open to divination by the listener—luxuriously submerged in emotion.

Luka Prinčič – xenotopic networks

Luka Prinčič – xenotopic networks

Luka Prinčič

“xenotopic networks”

The modern living environment is fully transmedial. The subject is bound in the functionalities and workings of a cyborg, where the question of her rights becomes especially important. However, oozing through the network of different forces is the patriarchal white hetero cis matrix and the mechanism of disciplining, shaping and cultivating. The trans.fail chapter xenotopic.network relies on the concepts of foreign (xeno), space (topic/topos) and network as the primary sources of inspiration. These concepts can be understood and read in various ways, thus presenting the grounds for a critical reading of the world as a patchwork of possibilities:

“Technology isn’t inherently progressive. Its uses are fused with culture in a positive feedback loop that makes linear sequencing, prediction, and absolute caution impossible. Technoscientific innovation must be linked to a collective theoretical and political thinking in which women, queers, and the gender non-conforming play an unparalleled role. The real emancipatory potential of technology remains unrealized. Fed by the market, its rapid growth is offset by bloat, and elegant innovation is surrendered to the buyer, whose stagnant world it decorates.” (Laboria Cuboniks)

“… what is at stake is nothing less than a global redefinition of the relationship between territory and networks. There are major geopolitical rearrangements taking place right now across the entire stack, from physical infrastructure to information, financial and monetary networks. These are attempts at determining ‘digital territories’ and grappling with how to define and assert some sort of ‘digital sovereignty’ in network space. And cryptographic techniques are at the core of such emerging arrangements.” (Jaya Klara Brekke)

Alberto Bone – Presente distópico

Alberto Bone – Presente distópico

Alberto Bone

Review:

Alberto Bone – Presente distópico

Modismo very proudly presents its second release of 2022, adding to its catalog talented Chilean musician Alberto Bone, young artist from quiet rural areas that surround the capital city. Relocated to post-pandemic Valparaíso, Bone’s music found its natural flow towards Modismo’s headquarters, partly thanks to his outstanding participation in “Mala Memoria V”, National Electronic Music Contest organized by Museo De La Memoria y Los Derechos Humanos.
“Presente Distópico” works as a brief experiential account of the Covid-19 pandemic. In just 17 minutes, Alberto Bone reveals his experiences around isolation and information overload to shape that disturbing scenario in four forceful compositions.
On a formal level, Bone is a composer, bassist, arranger and music producer. He wisely incorporates the experience of his formal studies in music composition to transform the songs on his EP into a rewarding adventure. The brief minute of this work is very well used, as many interesting things happen during this quarter of an hour. Power of synthesis, harmonic mastery and rhythmic effectiveness serving four pieces that condense hard times and that we have had to face and deal with in this dystopian present. A beginning that greets the end of times and the moments of infinite complications that made the soul heavy. The load of stimuli and information that we suffer is loyally reflected in “Tension”, which works as a dystopian climax. However, Bone apparently has not lost faith yet. He gives hope and celebrates the liberation during the luminous closing of this recommendable debut.

Various Artist – Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16

Various Artist – Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16

Various Artist

“Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16”

With this sampler, we present artists who have made Vulpiano across the span of 2021 and into early 2022. We find both continuity and renewal of the recurring themes solidified at our core over 12 years.

There are long-time pillars of the label: Richey Hackett’s tremendous growth branching into emotionally vital electronic compositions; the ever-versatile, 90s alternative-saturated introspections of King Elizabeth (furiously prolific since 2020 after a long absence since the early years of Vulpiano); the lush and transcendent playfulness of Brevyn’s synth work, with influences that distill how online music defies generational stereotyping.

And as ever newer artists arrived, like tributaries at the conflux of a river: a celestially noisy instrumental from Torre di Fine abstracts from the vast post-rock sound of his first Vulpiano release; immortal ebt returns triumphant with a new, crushingly hypnagogic sound after an 8-year absence; Lhas Fawn stirs a psychedelic whirlpool of aleatory ritual; Fabio Keiner’s meditative, microtonal opus adds to Vulpiano’s canon of masterful drone records; and Wood Ship’s subtly dissonant gaze at a winter horizon soothes, but begs contemplation.

Geiger von Müller

“Space Digger #1”

‘Space Digger #1’ is the first single off the upcoming 2022 album Slide Sonatas I. The tune is a mid-tempo instrumental hit, combining the slide theme with unexpected guitar harmonics: von Muller’s trademark sound, pretty much. Hunt no further for proof that one guitar can create such a rich sonic fabric.

The Feminalz – Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3

The Feminalz – Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3
[KAM058]

The Feminalz

“Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3”

The Feminalz present the third part of the Technoburlesque: the subversive electrocabaret with elements of ex-Yugoslav pop culture and playful queer feminist humor. The door to the disco club, to the new eighties and the old noughties, to modern trap and contemporary schlagers is wide open again. The songs are based on individual acts from the performance Image Snatchers, produced by Institute Emanat, which has been running since April 2013 and has been performed over 60 times. Image Snatchers are a proof that a performative variety show that is responsive to the trends, resistant to social norms and cynical towards normality is a form of social commentary that is very much alive. And so for the third time we have decided that the show deserves a repeatable consumer product.

The adaptations, remixes and the original club music for Image Snatchers show are developed by Luka Prinčič (ex-Nova deViator, Deviant Funk …) together with new and regular members of The Image Snatchers: DeeDeeVoid, Musée-Cunt, GlitterAid and, as songwriter, Gospod Magdalenca. The reshuffled team of The Feminalz present themselves with five new tracks and deliver what they are best at, a mix of instrumental club hits and verbose, text-based songs, which function both as performance acts and as repeatable recordings. The subversive note of the album becomes obvious through a juxtaposition: the remakes of the disco hits “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan and “So Many Men So Little Time” by Miquel Brown become farsical if set beside GlitterAid’s trap song “Gucci gučí” and parodical when set beside the electro theme of “Neodvisne ženske Pt.1” (Independent Women Part I). The third musical portrait of Image Snatchers is rounded off by the remake of the Yugoslav schlager song “Nogometna utakmica” (Football match) by Beti Jurković.
