Water Is The New Fuel

This music comes from the land of chaos; intuition and emotions interplay has led it to this singular form. It is not consensual, it is demanding, it asks the listener to step out of their comfort zone. But like slow burners, in the end, it brings a reward that is worth it. The first part is what I call “mantrawave”. The improvisations have been preserved as much as possible, maintaining their hypnotic character; to put it simply, these are the long version tracks of the album. The second part is what I call an “upgrade”, they have been developed to reach a new form, the musical aspect is emphasized; to put it simply, this is closer to an instrumental version. The last part is the “elemental edit”, where only the essential is kept.

It’s no coincidence if this recalls the distillation of alchemy. This complete version of the album is released almost two years after the elemental edit because something surprising happened during this collective cooperation. While I was looking forward to discovering the meeting of the two sonic lineages that have taught me the most in recent years, (besides the music with Studio 112 obviously, because its case is particular, being neighbors, we evolve together), we realized that Pete’s voice did not work with Gabriel’s music. Their approach to music was different, somewhat like two distinct elements :
– What happens if you bring fire and water together ?
You can’t simply mix them, but we didn’t give up; instead of choosing one or the other, as minds operating on exclusion would do, we chose to keep both and develop them, so we could study this amalgamation.

I don’t know what the future holds for our collaborations, but their past can provide some better understanding.

With Studio 112, the list would be too long, aside of Invisible Illusion, he is involved in PIRATE Tapes / Multiple Personality 3 /EVA Vertigo / TKno BeurK / rADio eNd / RefugEEs From Beyond…

With Gabriel Pereira Spurr under A Symbiotic Experience project :
Oneiric Sound / Open Source / Gesamtkuntswerk / Near Death Experience / Rebirth / Renaskigo
Also under our own names Dawn of the Damned
The album the closest to this one is probably Faust by PIRATE Tapes, where he participated with Studio 112. Also as good example to show how everything is linked, the instrumental of “We Don’t Fit Anymore” comes from Original Subversion, an unborn album of A Symbiotic Experience.

With Peter Hope & Studio 112 under rADio eNd project :
OddSchool / Underground Culture / Hum Antenna
There is another album without Studio 112 : Purple circle the french dissection.

The closest album to Weathering The Rocks is probably Hum Antenna, where the blues aspect is more pronounced in this one, in Hum Antenna, it is the psychedelia. So you may understand that regardless of the mask, only the musical flavor matters. This album is released under Invisible Illusion but could have been released just as well under the rADio eNd project if it weren’t so important to shed our skins to change and avoid turning into self-caricatures, slaves of our public image.

Among the roots, I should also mention The World Is Over! PIKADON & Necktar because these are the steps that led to the birth of this album.

I also invite you to read the words of Pete in the full presentation of the Elemental Edit :
“Tapping into the elements; rock, wind, fire & water… the very earth, the source of life & asking questions:
– Who’s making the decisions and the bad choices that damage & deplete, cause conflict, suffering & destruction?
How much have we given up or simply lost through our disconnection from the natural world, and how can it be retrieved?
Will self-importance be allowed to win the day and therefore define the terms of humanity’s decline?

Bring back the clatter & the drone, the mechanical clank, the smelting & shaping, the holler that sings out the rhythms of purposeful labor & truthful art. Bring us back our senses; the cold air, the hot sun, the rain, the storm & the sheltering from it. Let us breathe life again”

What else can I say? The lizard on the cover died in our water collector. It has placed this album under the sign of climate and social urgency. The two are linked, and there are many solutions, only malicious forces prevent their implementation on a large scale. So, I take my own actions on my scale. Since the time of this recording, I have bought solar panels, and I have never listened to so little music in my life; now I use headphones, only using my audio system with solar batteries. In my sink, I collect water in a basin to water the flowers and vegetables. We are flexitarians and degrowers since many years. When we go on vacation, we take the bus. We should have changed all our habits years ago. But better late than never. Even if it will never be enough compared to the harm caused by industries and the ultra wealthy.

This album could have been dedicated to the waves of climate change migrants who fall victim to the selfishness of colonial countries, but that is already more or less the dedication of “Refugees Welcome”. So, it is dedicated to our Mother Earth. It must be terrible that her own children render her uninhabitable. Although it’s only the most egocentric fringe of humanity, it’s up to the rest to take action. As we can see in ‘How to Blow Up a Pipeline,’ corporations and politicians are criminals responsible for the deaths of an indecent number of people and must be stopped by any means necessary.

“untitled 001”

Twenty rounds later,
spring arrives in full delight,
carrying the heaviness of winter with it.

The moose went across the river,
the wolves howl,
it’s time for the next sting.

Sami Konzo presents three wonderful new tracks, while each song is like a magnificent painting, in which there is always something new to discover and which embraces you so strongly, that not only a lasting impression is created, but also a cosmic cloak is woven around you, that hides you under an invisible heap of longing. At the same time are we living an expression of international friendship with this release, celebrating the unifying language of music, bringing humans together, no matter of other onion layers of reality. The season of the permanence is thus opened. Reopened again.

felsteg – Hold

[djummi.031]

felsteg

“Hold”

Matt and Dave named their project Felsteg, which is Swedish for misstep. And this is certainly not due to a lack of conviction in their shared musical work. Rather, and on the contrary, the name describes their approach to music quite well for me. On “Hold” you can hear two experienced live musicians who consciously decide to “misstep” when playing. Misstep as an opportunity!

The music on the album was created live and spontaneously. Starting with rudimentary song ideas, they played sessions together in which improvisation became the means to flesh out the basic ideas. At the same time, these sessions were professionally recorded on multiple tracks in the studio, then supplemented with additional elements and mixed at the end.

On their debut album, Matt and Dave managed to create songs that, despite all their complexity and jazz affinity, are characterized by a pleasant lightness and catchiness, even naturalness.

“Flavigula Sketches and Experiments”

These are ambient (in a very loose interpretation of the word) improvisations free to download. They follow in the tradition of Flavigula’s long, meandering, lugubrious drone (again, very loose interpretation) music.

The playlist will grow over time and one day vanish to be replaced by other “albums” of the same ilk.

“咲く (Bloom) | 開花 (Blossoming)”

咲く (Bloom)

Finally, it came.
It looks almost vivacious.
Very rewarding.

開花 (Blossoming)

One breath, two, it still continues to thrive. Its quaint melody echoing soft peace. Three breaths, four, it still continues to strive, strive for maintaining its delicate form.

Its quaint presence never did seem to cease, only hugging me with kindness, so warm. It seems to have everything, every piece, pieced together, blooming, finally blossoming.

Varius Artist – frecuenciAzul

Varius Artist – frecuenciAzul
[pn231]

Varius Artist

“frecuenciAzul”

The Chilean netlabel Pueblo Nuevo brings us this powerful compilation called “frecuenciAzul”, wherein eight Chilean creators pay tribute to nature and the territory. This work allows us to connect with our ancestors, human or not, whom we follow, and who have been displaced from their own home, coloring the natural landscape with death and gray hues. It’s a kind of collective spell that seeks to heal us all and promote the care and regeneration of our environment.

The compilation begins with ‘Bahía Misteriosa’ by Alisú, an ambient track that evokes the sounds of the sea, through the breaking of waves and the voices of seagulls and other seabirds gracefully intertwining in a synthesis of sounds that appear and disappear, as if it were breathing itself. This magnificent piece melancholically transports us to an unfathomable place, a inhospitable bay that rarely receives human visitors.

Next, we hear ‘Geofonías VIII’ by Valentina Villarroel, a curious collage of underwater acoustic recordings. With the help of a hydrophone, we are transported several meters below the surface amid the astonishment of running out of air. We can feel how the pressure in our ears changes and then just barelythe sound variations of the water, hitting the microphone capsule, as they surround us. A feeling of anxiety accompanies the listener, as if waiting for the sea not to realize that we have entered its territory.

We continue with ‘Sky’ by Valentina Maza, which begins with the voices of birds and establishes from the beginning an upliftingrhythm inspired by the fluctuations of the clouds in the sky. Delay and distortion play their part, elevating us towards a futuristic landscape suspended in the air where calm and storm alternate in this celestial theater. We wonder, will we ever be able to fly? Without a doubt, we accomplish this through sound.

In ‘Electriza’ by Amanda Irarrázabal, we have a masterful lesson on how to gather the sounds of the various stages of a storm. A pink noise serves as a continuous bass to recreate raindrops falling furiously on the earth. The thunder magnetizes the environment with electric currents playing in the stereo image. Do we hear a cello dancing in the background? We seem to perceive a chorus of amphibians and a cheerful whistle that invites an encounter. In the end, we welcome all those creatures that join in gratitude for this gift from the sky.

As we reach the midpoint of the album, we find darlavida, the artistic alias of Darla Quintana Medina, who presents us with ‘Efecto Mariposa’ (Butterfly Effect), an ode to chaos, a piece where synthesis and arpeggios, apparently random, intertwine with field recordings made by Maita Apparcel. The sounds followone another, as if manifesting the fact that nothing perishes, everything transforms. The supposed disorder within the sound landscape is nothing more than the birth of new creatures, which make their way through frequency sweeps and, together with chord pads, animal sounds, and certain rhythmic cells, narrate metaphors of a cyclical time that takes us back to the beginning.

‘Naturica’ is a piece by Groovestastik, the alter ego of Paulina Lobos, a dark work that flirts with industrial techno while addressing the history of the earth, from its constitution from a solar nebula, through the sounds of various water phenomena and the singing of birds interrupted by the presence of human voices and city noise. The relentless rhythm begins to accelerate its pulse as we wonder if it will be possible for all these creatures to live in harmony someday.

The next track stands out from the rest in the importance it gives to the percussive part. ‘Quick Sand’ is a work by Sofía Pululosz that is inspired by the viscosity of quicksand. Riddim, a subgenre of dubstep, makes its way through various minimalist percussion arrangements. The phrase ‘fuck this shit’, which denotes frustration in English, appears provocative and is deconstructed through sampling and processing. If we are currently in quicksand, what do we do to get out of it?

After all these reflections, we conclude with an ambient piece that invites us to immerse ourselves in the deepest relaxation, a grand overlay of textures that challenges the force of gravity, allowing us to free ourselves from our earthly weight, float on the soft layer of snow, and elegantly cross even the darkest black holes in the universe. ‘Visión Blanca’ by Yadak floods us with hope, encouraging us to explore the icy landscapes, under the protection of the majestic and centuries-old Mother Araucarias, ancestral guardians of the southern region. We still have time to counteract the ravages of climate change and preserve the beauty of our natural environment.
