about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Tomoroh Hidari

“The Reinterpretation Of Dreams (小さな夢達 Remixed)”

“Do dreams have a past or a future? Are they forever intrinsically linked with our consciousness? What happens if we share them? Do they take hold in our larger narratives and become stories in their own right?

Last year I released an album named 小さな夢達 (which reads as Chiisana Yumetachi) – Small Dreams. Today, just days after the first anniversary of its release I find myself listening to 10 remixes of those dreams. The Reinterpretation of Dreams, if you will. It is thanks to Ivo Petrov, label head of Mahorka, who envisioned this album as a great way to celebrate netlabel day 2021. He invited an amazing group of artists to contribute their remixes and share their own reinterpretations.

There isn’t a single track on there that isn’t amazing – I find that on repeated listening different tracks stand out each time, sometimes the softer ones speak more to me, sometimes the weirder ones, then again, on another listen, it’s the more energetic ones. But every time it sounds like a coherent whole. A world appears, held together by the threads woven into the fabric of the original tracks, but expanded into a multi-faceted sonic cosmos, a wider world for the original narrow story to expand into. And after the final remix, you’re invited to wake up again to the meditative meta-verse of the Small Dreams: Where all the remixes expand on the original theme, my contribution – an afterthought of sorts – is there to take you into a meditative state build around the ambiances and field-recordings that lie at the core of 小さな夢達.

My gratitude to all the artists who were kind enough to put in their work and creativity to contribute these remixes! To Ivo for making it all happen, to Zach Bridier for mastering and to dfkt for creating the cover.” –Tomoroh Hidari, London 09.07.2021

Rrrrrose Azerty

“the wave my heart cannot take”

A Netlabel Day 2021 Exclusive

Inspired by The Caretaker, Azerty returns more subdued than their previous outing, but with a sound drenched in the pure melancholia and static of anxiety; from a tattered amp the waves reverberate on a stranger’s bare floorboards and crumbling ceramic tiles.

David Gotham, Bon-Psy

“Enter, The Holy Divine (Part I) (Bon-Psy Remix)”

Bon-Psy provides a contrasting take on David Gothams Enter, The Holy Divine (Part I) in spectacular fashion.

The dark but moving original is transformed into the grooviest version of itself as Bon-Psy works his jazz influences into an intoxicating remix.

Though short, it is still every bit as sweet with Bon-Psy making use of walking bass lines & cello riffs to compliment his soothing blend of experimental beats.

Celeste Betancur – Secretos del viento

Celeste Betancur – Secretos del viento
[pn192]

Celeste Betancur

The wind whispers secrets in the ears of the forest inhabitants and of those who come with the proper ritual.

A magic night, total darkness and mystical invocations surround the dance of the trees that hide, with their foliage, ancient spells capable of shaking the roots of being.

“Secretos del viento” (“Secrets of the wind”) is a series of live sets (Secretos del viento – set completo) and excerpts of live acts by Celeste Betancur performed between July 2020 and May 2021 with human voice as protagonist. Each track is a new configuration and digital processes that are designed and implemented using live coding techniques but with emphasis on language, on the very sound of words and the magical power hidden within them.

“MFPWNWFOI”

MUSIC FOR PEOPLE WITH NO WORK, FAMILY OR INTERNET

“A collection of pieces from the last 10 years gathered around the idea of listening as a state of trance. Listening without distraction, without measuring time, without hurry. Clearing the mind, a bit of melancholy, an endless loop, a hovering thought, urban meditation somewhere in the suburbs. Instead of TV, instead of a smartphone: “I have to do something, I have to be somewhere”. Slow listening, room for feelings.”

released July 12, 2021 as free download and limited edition cassette.

Crennwiick – The World’s Recreation

Crennwiick – The World's Recreation
[DigitalDiamonds085L]

Crennwiick

“The World’s Recreation”

‘The World’s Recreation,’ is the title of Crennwiick’s impressive 8 track album. The sound envelops this concept through intelligent, progressive layering and his use of expansive, sci-fi textures. Complimenting this, there are warm, analog instruments, bouncy basslines and linguistic synth motifs. He explores a much-loved Digital Diamonds fringe sound that borrows from progressive and minimal techno, deep house and electronica. At times it can be euphoric and inspiring, other times just downright groove-ridden. You’ll feel right at home listening to this masterpiece.

RENEGADE ANDROID

“Automation With Human Form”

“Automation With human Form” features the classic track from my 1999 self-titled release with remixes by Bloodclot, MTS Airmass, Sam Fauchon, sunnk, Synkretic and The Fellow Passenger.

All Cat Tracks and Zima Blue were created using a Polyend Tracker and are directly inspired by 90’s IDM style jungle music but with the same raw distorted break samples I used on my first D-Trash release from 1999.

This album is dedicated to my cat Baxter who passed this March, and to all the loved ones we lose along this journey.

Coletivo NSLO

“Rosa dos Ventos”

B1. Por que o pôr do sol fica rosa às vezes (6:01)
B2. Futuro (7:55)

Remixes:
R1. Coletivo NSLO and Trixie Delight – CharlaTrix (remix) (4:11)
R2. Coletivo NSLO and Lone Cosmonaut – Novos Sururus E Quiprocós De Um Convescote Chumbrega [Enhancement] (9:33)

Rosa dos Ventos presents instrumental compositions by Heitor Oliveira, performed by Dario Rodrigues Silva (piano), Gina Arantxa Arbeláez (flute), Renan Simões and Sabrina Souza (guitars). With significant independent artistic and academic trajectories, the musicians join forces for a collaborative endeavour that result in a series of phonographic releases, of which Rosa dos Ventos is the third.

The album Rosa dos Ventos presents three more pieces from the authorial repertoire of Coletivo N.S.L.O, closing the cycle of phonographic releases related to the founding project of the group. In the pieces of this album, the musical materials are cells that at times support games of guided improvisation, at other times they are presented with ostinatos and rhythmic lag procedures. In the duos El viejo de bien, for flautist and guitarist, and The meme loop, for pianist and guitarist, references to memories shared by the performers frame energetic instrumental performances. The track Rosa dos Ventos is a quartet that refers to the very experience of the group’s creative process in its multiple movements, directions, alternating roles and encounters.

Plutonien – VORSTELLUNG ERARBEITEN

Plutonien – VORSTELLUNG ERARBEITEN
[phokes143]

Plutonien

“VORSTELLUNG ERARBEITEN”

Brain factory in Metropolis.
Lofi plough and extended lunch break.
The supervisor bends his head, and bangs.

From Dresden’s electronica underground comes Plutonien and ploughs our brain walls with experimental-beat-heavy lofi art, most of which was produced using Sunvox, which is of course great. Head banging is allowed, even dancing is possible with some of the tunes. The artist of the project Plutonien has a liking for all arts, art history, but also for more or less strange human creations of all kinds. The openness and at the same time strictness associated with this is easy to hear in the tunes. The sounds are not charming at all, more like sitting in the middle of a mechanical clockwork, listening to and watching its production. The big machine is rolling. And it is not soothing but, to put it mildly, revealing.

This is the first time we have re-released a musical work that was already published under Creative Commons before. With a licence that is given and somewhat different from our standard licence.
Basically, a re-release of CC music is possible at any time. In the context of attention islands in media oceans, this somehow also makes additional sense.
It also makes sense from a long-term perspective, because digital releases are much more ephemeral than, for example, records and CDs that are still traded.
>From the time of the beginnings of music publication on the net, almost none of the hundreds of labels are active or accessible any more.
Archive.org is of course a wonderful implementation, especially thanks to Simon von Monotonik, who recognised the potential early on and built the bridge between the netlabels and archive.org.

The contact to Plutonien was established via Rajko, thanks.
