about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

“GAEA”

It happened that the cat met the fox in a forest, and as she thought to herself:
‘He is clever and full of experience, and much esteemed in the world,’ she spoke to him in a friendly way.
‘Good day, dear Mr Fox, how are you? How is all with you? How are you getting on in these hard times?’
The fox, full of all kinds of arrogance, looked at the cat from head to foot, and for a long time did not know whether he would give any answer or not.
At last he said: ‘Oh, you wretched beard-cleaner, you piebald fool, you hungry mouse-hunter, what can you be thinking of? Have you the cheek to ask how I am getting on? What have you learnt? How many arts do you understand?’
‘I understand but one,’ replied the cat, modestly.
‘What art is that?’ asked the fox.
‘When the hounds are following me, I can spring into a tree and save myself.’
‘Is that all?’ said the fox. ‘I am master of a hundred arts, and have into the bargain a sackful of cunning. You make me sorry for you; come with me, I will teach you how people get away from the hounds.’
Just then came a hunter with four dogs. The cat sprang nimbly up a tree, and sat down at the top of it, where the branches and foliage quite concealed her.
‘Open your sack, Mr Fox, open your sack,’ cried the cat to him, but the dogs had already seized him, and were holding him fast.
‘Ah, Mr Fox,’ cried the cat. ‘You with your hundred arts are left in the lurch! Had you been able to climb like me, you would not have lost your life.’

Deep Dive Sound – Roots & Fruits

Deep Dive Sound – Roots & Fruits
[GFR, 139]

Deep Dive Sound

“Roots & Fruits”

These ‘sound photographs’ will help you to immerse yourself in the palm fringed paradise of Malapascua, an Island in Daanbantayan, Philippines.

In these binaural diaries, you can experience the locals’ calm way of life as you get lost among muddy roads jammed with kids playing and riding their bicycles, noisy roosters, friendly pigs and fruit vendors engaging the customers with their playful enthusiasm.

And then …. suddenly the only sounds we hear are the fishermen preparing their nets and the gentle waves breaking on the shoreline, while we overlook an epic sunset on the Visayan Sea.

Here, time stands still and every sound is sonic-postcard perfect.

Nicola Mazzocca – Mellifera

Nicola Mazzocca – Mellifera

Nicola Mazzocca

“Mellifera”

[pn199]

Jose Miguel Candela

“Ciclo Electroacustico Panegírico”

My first motivation to start composing this cycle of works 15 years ago was to pay tribute to a group of Chilean masters of electroacoustic composition. His inspiration has permeated many decisions concerning creating the pieces I present here. His influence has meant profound revisions of my own musical language. I proposed the aesthetic idea of combining elements present in the language of the works of composers to whom “Panegírico” is dedicated. Mainly through creative “dialogues” with one piece of each one of them. These are not “variations” or “versions” in the strict sense, but rather personal sound opinions about these creations. Thus, this cycle of experimental works (all acousmatic) responds to the musical reflections proposed by this group of essential creators, necessarily adopting an aesthetic diversity following such substantial and varied legacies. Its creation represented a crucial personal challenge for me since it invited (and still invite) me to question my work along the lines that they did (and do).

Bobby Jewell – Songs to the cistern

Bobby Jewell – Songs to the cistern

Bobby Jewell

“Songs to the cistern”

Bobby Jewell is a musician and ambient dj/radio show host on Resonance Extra and elsewhere and “Songs to the cistern” is his artist debut on Mahorka that was assembled and finalised during the last year specially for the label and also comes out as special limited cassette edition.

“This EP is made from scraps of sounds from various harddrives, phone videos, field recordings and youtube links over the past eight years. Stitching these parts together was just as much down to chance as it was intent and any additional music made to accompany serves sunderpin the found sound or sample. Though I hesitate to say ‘scrapbook’ or ‘collage’ hopefully these tracks point more at importance of wearing your influences on your sleeve working with the media that surrounds you rather than stressing your own individuality against it”
