“…ci piaceva l’immagine dei cavi sulla Luna intesi come il groviglio di cavi audio ed elettrici che invadono ogni studio di musica, che strisciano sul suolo lunare e alla Luna si collegano; c’e’ quindi l’ elemento moderno che si interfaccia con l’elemento arcaico (la Luna) e con tutti i suoi miti, inclusi quelli della fantascienza moderna”;
e FANGU ovvero l’alterego, produttore di musica elettronica sperimentale, di Leonardo Vetrano (già chitarrista di: The Brilliants At Breakfast / Cinema noir / dasES):
“…l‘idea si è sviluppata a cavallo tra il 2020 e il 2021, quando in pieno lockdown, vietato qualunque tipo di aggregazione, ferme prove e concerti con la band, non si fermò la necessità di creare e soprattutto la voglia di farlo con gli amici, anche a distanza. Per questo FanGu, anche se nasce come progetto solista non lo è mai stato, sono così nate le collaborazioni con: Il mio Giardino Prensile (Varcocu); Ottica Siluraro Project (A Tia Taliu); Less (Lù RE); Roof Size (IOCU); Mammut nel Caos (Mantra). Francisco Sonur is a musician, composer and travel enthusiast (born in La Plata, Argentina) but currently resides in Sydney, Australia. Sonur’s music is a mixture of euphoria and nostalgia, a bowl of hot soup in a harsh winter.
A blend of ambient, cinematic and post-rock sounds, all of the work Sonur has put out to date, tells personal stories from the artist’s past to the present day. Francisco’s sonic storytelling often focuses on the small details of family life, bringing feelings of honestly, innocence, playfulness and nurture directly to the listener.
Francisco’s music can be heard via Giraffe Tapes, Rusted Tone Recordings, Time Released Sound, Shimmering Moods Records, The Ambient Zone, Bruma Del Sur. Shippen is the fourteenth Studio album, that is by the Maravines. The complete album is available for download on the Internet Archive, in late January of 2023.
There are three cover versions of songs on Shippen, by Sean Faust, Underlined Passages, and Relays, as well as one instrumental song. The first released song, “S. Feclofus” appears on the charity compilation The Light Between – Songs of Hope and Mercy, with all of the proceeds for Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. The song “Sentinel” is on the fourth volume of Rock against Hate, for Planned Parenthood. For The Jersey Journal’s review of the album, the Maravines write that “a woman has the right to choose when she wants to have children, like a man has the right to be free, like all life has the right to live.”
In an interview with BlowUpRadio, on August 12th, Sean Faust remarks that the Maravines “did the second part, Without a Name” and they “went for that more ethereal air about it, georgeous.” The song is called “outstanding” in the on line music magazine New Jersey Stage, on September 5th, and it premiered on BlowUpRadio’s New N. J. Music Playlist that day, at 7 P. m. JPeck of Margate, New Jersey’s Alternative Rock band Bosco and Peck writes that the song “Recall and Return” puts him “in a trance,” and that he “really likes the track.” BlowUpRadio adds that the vibe is “mellow, but compelling, with strong lyrics.” “Recall, and Return” is on the Banding Together compilation, in conjunction with the Spondylitis Webathon.
