about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Marie Wilhelmine Anders – Travels

Marie Wilhelmine Anders – Travels

Marie Wilhelmine Anders

“Travels”

Fallen – Soft Skin, Eternal Verses

Fallen – Soft Skin, Eternal Verses
[mhrk313]

Fallen

“Soft Skin, Eternal Verses”

Fallen’s debut album on Mahorka stayed unreleased for quite some time before finding its right home. It’s working title was “No Love Is Sorrow” that was changed for the definitive release.

“But the second she opened her eyes and looked at me, I knew; she was either going to be the death of me or she was going to be the one who finally brought me back to life.” –Colleen Hoover

Collected earlier reviews of the album:

Felthat (UK), review by Hubert Heathertoes: “Bracaloni goes a bit deeper with his music – the melancholy of it it’s not just the core of it but in terms of composition it helps to understand that where it stems from – his education in the matter of film music, waging and balancing – the mildly experimental textures with genuine melodies and phasing the moods of different quality – that takes you way way more than just a melancholic experience.” ||| Ondarock, review by Valerio D’Onofrio, score: 7: “Bracaloni here plays and performs synths, piano, organ, oboe, santoor, koto, electric guitar and bass as well as an infinite number of sound manipulations that lead to ethereal cosmic flows whom refer to the older generation of electronic musicians: from Brian Eno to krautrock, from Mike Oldfield’s suites to Vangelis’ cinematics, up to the Alan Parsons Project’s memories masterfully summarizing his poetry.” ||| Rumore Magazine, review by Alessandro Besselva Averame, score: 7:”Synthesizers, pianos, soft rhythmic pulsations and the arcane echoes of an oboe, feed a great solemnity here.” ||| Blow Up Magazine, review by Gino Dal Soler, score: 7:”As the ideal sequel of the previous album Secrets of the Moon released by Psychonavigation in 2015, Lorenzo’s new album is electronic sound in its ambient, cinematic and evocative declinations. Fallen’s new album is appreciated for honesty and personality of the author.” ||| Audiofollia, review by Francesco Lenzi: “Fallen’s new album is very beautiful and rich, it continues to work on ambient textures already included in the previous album, but here they have evolved pointing the way for a new musical path.” ||| Music Won’t Save you, review by Raffaello Russo (Rockerilla):”The identity of almost all the instruments here tend to stray, transfiguring into a dream and into a rhythmic flow of sound, infused with stretches of oriental scents and imbued with emotional spontaneity, culminating in piano harmonies and synthetic hugs” ||| In Your Eyes, review by Stefano Cavanna, score 8.7:”Bracaloni’s new album shines by own beauty with its ancient roots, and for that, it doesn’t deserve to be tarnished by any comparison or juxtaposition. The musical sensibility of Lorenzo Bracaloni reveals itself above average once again, making the composer one of the most credible ambient music authors and not only in the italian scene.” ||| CrampiWordpress, review by Marcello Berlich (ex-Losing Today): “Ambient rarefactions and minimalist repetitions mixed together into a sound that is rooted in the impressionist lesson”

Brevyn

“Waterwalk – Extended”

Brevyn graces the keys again with the same elegant imagination we have seen across numerous releases. More than ever, there is a neoclassical feel to the New Age underpinnings: the sound of a romantic soloist operating an elaborate, Atlantean cathedral organ made of hundreds of winding coral pipes. A suite many shades of blue, traversed by ripples and shafts of light, forms patterns and reflective mirages that are entirely open to divination by the listener—luxuriously submerged in emotion.

Luka Prinčič – xenotopic networks

Luka Prinčič – xenotopic networks

Luka Prinčič

“xenotopic networks”

The modern living environment is fully transmedial. The subject is bound in the functionalities and workings of a cyborg, where the question of her rights becomes especially important. However, oozing through the network of different forces is the patriarchal white hetero cis matrix and the mechanism of disciplining, shaping and cultivating. The trans.fail chapter xenotopic.network relies on the concepts of foreign (xeno), space (topic/topos) and network as the primary sources of inspiration. These concepts can be understood and read in various ways, thus presenting the grounds for a critical reading of the world as a patchwork of possibilities:

“Technology isn’t inherently progressive. Its uses are fused with culture in a positive feedback loop that makes linear sequencing, prediction, and absolute caution impossible. Technoscientific innovation must be linked to a collective theoretical and political thinking in which women, queers, and the gender non-conforming play an unparalleled role. The real emancipatory potential of technology remains unrealized. Fed by the market, its rapid growth is offset by bloat, and elegant innovation is surrendered to the buyer, whose stagnant world it decorates.” (Laboria Cuboniks)

“… what is at stake is nothing less than a global redefinition of the relationship between territory and networks. There are major geopolitical rearrangements taking place right now across the entire stack, from physical infrastructure to information, financial and monetary networks. These are attempts at determining ‘digital territories’ and grappling with how to define and assert some sort of ‘digital sovereignty’ in network space. And cryptographic techniques are at the core of such emerging arrangements.” (Jaya Klara Brekke)

Various Artist – Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16

Various Artist – Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16

Various Artist

“Vulpiano Records Sampler EP: Vol. 16”

With this sampler, we present artists who have made Vulpiano across the span of 2021 and into early 2022. We find both continuity and renewal of the recurring themes solidified at our core over 12 years.

There are long-time pillars of the label: Richey Hackett’s tremendous growth branching into emotionally vital electronic compositions; the ever-versatile, 90s alternative-saturated introspections of King Elizabeth (furiously prolific since 2020 after a long absence since the early years of Vulpiano); the lush and transcendent playfulness of Brevyn’s synth work, with influences that distill how online music defies generational stereotyping.

And as ever newer artists arrived, like tributaries at the conflux of a river: a celestially noisy instrumental from Torre di Fine abstracts from the vast post-rock sound of his first Vulpiano release; immortal ebt returns triumphant with a new, crushingly hypnagogic sound after an 8-year absence; Lhas Fawn stirs a psychedelic whirlpool of aleatory ritual; Fabio Keiner’s meditative, microtonal opus adds to Vulpiano’s canon of masterful drone records; and Wood Ship’s subtly dissonant gaze at a winter horizon soothes, but begs contemplation.

Quiet Clapping – Among The Haze

Quiet Clapping – Among The Haze
[mhrk308]

Quiet Clapping

“Among The Haze”

Quiet Clapping is a project of Jonathan Deasy – guitarist, improviser, composer, splitting time between Ireland and France. “Among The Haze”, his debut on Mahorka, is a departure somewhat from the usual Quiet Clapping formula of long form 20 minute ambient compositions. The pieces here are shorter, saturated and brimming with emotion. Written while reading Borges and living through a pandemic.

Martin Hoogeboom – Colony

Martin Hoogeboom – Colony
[ET60]

Martin Hoogeboom

“Colony”

Etched Traumas is more than happy to release ‘Colony’ by Martin Hoogeboom. ‘Colony’ is a soundscape work based on the sounds of ants. Martin says about ‘Colony’ :

“It might be an ethical concern to fill an ant’s nest with molten aluminum, to let it cool down, and to then dig it up. But this is the only way to get a building that looks like it has been designed by an alien architect.

Recent studies have shown that ants regularly communicate with each other by sound. Most ants have a natural washboard and plectrum built-in into their stomach. By rubbing these against each other, they create sound. This enables the queen to order her workers. Researchers can record these sounds, which are the basis of Colony, with the newest audio techniques.

I gave sound designer Theo Calis and trumpet player Ed van den Berkel the following instructions for improvisation: autumn forest, cold, blue sky, strong wind, chasing clouds. In the same forest where you are enjoying your walk, a superorganism is building complex colonies. Like aliens on a new planet.”

English version by Carlos McPherson #stillsafeinHonolulu

The work by these two relatives has been coming out for some time via sonic research, working solo and as part of different projects. But there’s a notorious link behind all the tapes, cables, knobs and electricity around them. They experiment connecting situations, controlling voltage, in order to create this “Raw Opera Vol.2”.

Polwor vs Baltazár take us to a crossroads of dreams, mystical delusions, and parallel universes, where we are able to see the Nexus of separation between this timeline and bypassing to the other side. Sometimes this work takes us somewhere else, feeling like listening to someone else’s daily life, the sounds we’re hearing like field recordings from a universe beyond, or situations we are prone to watch in fever, hallucinations that can perfectly be seen in altered states. “Raw Opera Vol.2” is without a doubt a good way to go.

[mhrk307]

Waldgrenze

“Ökoton”

Waldgrenze (border of the forest) – the project of Theo Kovalev (Wave Resistance), focused on ambient and experimental electronic music, as well as acoustic sound production experiments and field recordings, is inspired by the ecological idea of friendly coexistence of two opposing sides – nature and technology. Born in joint improvisational jam sessions with other artists, the project eventually transformed and acquired its own sound character, retaining the original idea of the changes made to live recordings to preserve the feeling of “here and now”, where in each composition you can hear the unique state of different places.

The third Waldgrenze album “Ökoton” is dedicated to the boundary between Earth and space in order to emphasize the unity of people living on a tiny planet in the middle of the infinity. The word ecotone was coined from a combination of eco(logy) plus -tone , from the Greek oikos (house) and tonos (tension) – in other words, a place where ecologies are in tension.
