about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

John Novak

“The Moon is a Strange God”

John Novak appeared on Kahvi a couple of times previously, both showing his versatility of different styles, from popular mainstream melodies, to IDM inspired by Tangerine Dream and Chemical Brothers.

This time around he’s back with passages of ambience, interspersed with addictive melodies in the shape of his new album ‘The Moon is a Strange God’.

Eight tracks of sublime chill, drifting between the stars.

The Caretaker – Everywhere, an empty bliss

The Caretaker – Everywhere, an empty bliss

The Caretaker

“Everywhere, an empty bliss “

*AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ONLY UNTIL JUNE 16th, 2019.

Work on ‘Everywhere, at the end of time’ was all consuming
as you can imagine. All work and no play, all work and no play.

In celebration of its completion and only for a limited time*
here is a surprise golden farewell.

Compliments of the house.

Offering you one last chance to raise a charged glass for
those we lost along the way, for all the works, for those ghosts
from our past, for our uncertain future and for The Caretaker.

You are of course welcome to purchase me a drink if you find
this work to be of personal value.

As the old saying goes “I’m the type of guy who likes to know
who’s buying their drinks, Lloyd.”

Thanks eternally for your support.

C’est fini.

bolus – perceived redness of an evening sky
[EEM044]

bolus

“perceived redness of an evening sky”

Qualia is ‘an unfamiliar term for something that could not be more familiar to us: the way things seem to us’, such as the perceived redness of an evening sky – it cannot be put into words. These compositions are an attempt to describe a space in the artist’s mind, a three dimensional region of emotion and feeling influenced by a fleeting yet intense period of saudade – an indescribable longing for something one never had.

Nortas – AukÅ¡tai

Nortas – AukÅ¡tai
[EEM043]

Nortas

“Aukštai”

Aũkštai (“Floors”) is a result of how overthinking leads the mind to multiple directions while searching for answers in the surroundings. These 5 stories reflect on how the mind works in different situations, whether it’s a cup of coffee in the morning by the favourite clock ticking down the time of waiting, taking a dog for a walk with thoughts of self-doubt, or whether it’s stone-tied drowning in the sea of paralysed body cells.

Dreamlike walk through inner depths, as if you were walking on thick ice surrounded by misty void and could wake up any second. The sounds reflect a journey through grief, anxiety, finding peace in solitude.

NNYz?

“Aetiology”

NNYz? was last seen back at #375, and he returns to Kahvi with a short but sweet seven track EP called ‘Aetiology’.

Highly detailed textures with glitchy beats, field recordings and IDM arps combined into simply named but exotic sounding tracks.

Track of choice: 4am for deliciously sweeping eighths for emotive spine tingling nostalgia.

WHALT THISNEY – Thisker

WHALT THISNEY – Thisker

WHALT THISNEY

“Thisker”

The music of WHΛLT THISИEY is a solitary soundtrack to nowhere, a non-tourist map into the unknown; music and images to create new, fully immersive environments, an intriguing aural pilgrimage with no destination in time and space, nuances and labyrinths.

WHΛLT THISИEY selects and mixes music for the mind and body in the same quantities that emerges from encounters between the past and the present, drawing beauty of the commonplace, wiping, polishing it, giving it life again, so to produce the same effect of the original freshness and spontaneity, a mirror that transforms it absorbs and reflects.

WHΛLT THISИEY mixes impressionist piano atmospheres, spoken wordcore, drone, experimental, library, hypnotic escapism music. WHΛLT THISИEY aka Fernando Cerqueira is the founder member of Thisco record label and publisher of Antibothis anthologies.

Fernando Cerqueira was the founder member of the late 80’s SPH tape / record label.

“Forms”

Just before Christmas, Curious Inversions came up with the idea for our next artist challenge in the shape of a ‘Secret Santa’ challenge.

The challenge was to create a track using at least some of the sounds from sample packs, along with a few additional sounds such as bass, percussion from the artists own collection.

Seven sample packs were created by seven different artists, and then randomly distributed. The result is what’s now known as ‘Forms’.

Carlos Suero – erasing memories

Carlos Suero – erasing memories
[PT082]

Carlos Suero

“erasing memories”

“erasing memories” was an idea developed for music to live and die on stage. Taking the past concept of music that dies on stage, Carlos Suero composed this unique piece of one hour, with various segments within, for this purpuse only. But, after reconsidering the idea of losing these tracks for ever; and having talks with friends, he decided to release it in order to making it avalable for everyone that couldn´t make to that night.

The night was the concert played the 17/11/2018 and organised by RATORMOUTE in Madrid.
The day after he set up the instruments again like the night before and performed the same concert this time in the studio.

The music included here is without cuts or extras added, its is exatcly as it was the night before; live.

Recorded at HomeStudios (Madrid).
Mastered by CSH at HomeStudios (Madrid).

Seeli Kuuppo – Kaamos

Seeli Kuuppo – Kaamos
[TERR110]

Seeli Kuuppo

“Kaamos “

TERR110: Boreal soundscape collage accompanied by the lull of balmy guitar. Seamless loop recorded over a week-long residency in Inari, Finland.

“I took part in a media workshop group’s travel to Inari, bringing together different artistic visions in order to gather a multimedia report of the Northern seasonal foliage, and ultimately organize a collective art exhibition. The residency was in a cabin beside Nukkumajoki river and my project in the group was to record the journey photographically and acoustically.

I was mesmerized by Inari’s fjelds, lakes and aurora-filled nights, the pristine flora surrounding Nellim near the Russian border and one particularly important place of interest was Siida Museum; a rich crash course on the indigenous Sámi culture, history and the seriously endangered Inari-Sámi language. To this day, Sámi people keep facing systematic discrimination in many aspects.

The loan word “Kaamos” doesn’t have a literal translation in English despite its unmissable significance in our culture. It could be split into two contexts: firstly the near literal translation “polar night” implying the geographical lack of sunrise, and secondly an associated mental state as a consequence: winter depression. The bane of northeners.

Post-trip, I recorded guitar to fit the field recording collage for a seamless audio installation loop as part of our touring mixed media art exhibition of the same name. The opening in December was at our workshop Vimma, with Turku Main Library to follow later in spring.”

[DF-5]

Rich Sudney

“Autumn Rehearsal”

Detroit sound artist and producer Rich Sudney goes dark this time with his release Autumn Rehearsal. Having a deeper sound then his previous releases, DF-5 takes a hibernating attitude fit for the winter months. Deep, dark and deliberate but not void of his signature musical structure. Few are more reminiscent of sound tracks from the movie Koyaanisqatsi. Others are just uplifting as usual. Rich Sudney directs us in his sound to ready us for rehearsal.
