Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Non Human”

Gozne – Non Human
To be human is possible. In this context, a robot with a human appearance wants to become more manlike, to be part of society, acting in it. The problem arises when his artificial brain will not process some things. He does not understand the behavior, customs, values, decisions and reason of human decadence. Each one of the electronic components that comprise him were programmed to function as an ideal and perfect human being (according to the standard of humanly possible perfection), he understands humanity in this way.

In reality, in human society as such, he does not find anything like himself. The human being IS NOT what has been programmed into his database. The real human being is practically totally the opposite.

The artificial intelligence with which he is equipped permits him to make the best decisions, to continue as what he is, a robot with human appearance, an autonomous and perfect machine, far from humanity, declaring himself, NON-HUMAN.

The characteristic analog sound of Gozne returns, though this time it seems harder and colder, approaching the sound of EBM (electronic body music) and old-school electro. The voice, already roboticized, serious, strange, paraphrases its own language mixture of English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Mapudungun, not so unintelligible.

Perhaps because of the concept behind the album, 4 x 4 rhythms do not abound, although this does not separate it from the root of Gozne’s work, which carries a sound with experimental characteristics to the dance floor.

Gozne is my father and knowing his musical works since always, and surely because of my metal roots, this is the album that I like most.

“Eight Dreams”

Marc Stapleford – Eight Dreams
Marc has been in the business for a while, being a member of the recording and touring band Beautiful 2000 but since the breakup of that band, he’s been writing and recording his own material.
This extended EP of eight songs was recorded after a long visit to Kobe, Japan in 2004. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams, ‘Eight Dreams’ was recorded, played, written, mixed, mastered and produced by Marc Stapleford. It has a delightful mixture of laid-back acoustic and electronic-flavoured textures, with the odd turntable and field recording thrown in.
“Eight dreams dreamt in one night. From young to old. This record is in celebration of human spirit and imagination. Long live us.”

Various Artists – Medvede Vedia Vol. 2
The pre-classical Greeks believed in the ability of men to become bears. One of the most commonly told stories is that of Callisto, who bore a child of Zeus – Arcas. Hera became jealous and transformed Callisto into a bear as punishment. Arcas, out hunting, came upon his mother and shot at her. Zeus, taking pity on the mother and son, changed them into Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, the two great bear constellations. From this one myth comes a whole score of others. For instance, the name Arcas comes from the Greek word for bear – Arctos. By extension, the “Arkades” of Arcadia are supposedly descended from Arcas. Their name means bear-people.

Tigerberry

“Spirit Kit”

Tigerberry – Spirit Kit
The first band’s full-length album was compiled from the original songs captured between 2009 and 2012. It depicts the development of their distinctive sound and the starting point. The title “Spirit Kit” shows the idea behind the recording: each song itself is a key to a particular spiritual mood. The soundscape was designed in a very spontaneous and natural way. Nobody planned to release this record, and yet it became the organic 8 track statement that had been gathered from a vast band’s catalogue of singles, outtakes and demos. Serious changes and re-recordings were excluded on purpose to deliver the purest feel and tension behind the music. Remastered by the wizard from Binomial Records. The beauty of layering and reserved power reveals itself in an unexpected way through repeated listening.

“silicate garden”

weldroid – silicate garden
whether working solo or with other collaborators, weldroid shows his mastery of sound design and composition, skillfully blending glassy, swirling pads and scattershot effects. noiseblips and distorted squarewaves recall the golden age of 8-bit gaming, mixed with signature bitcrushed percussion. often enough, these jagged sounds are layered with smooth, gentle atmospheric chords and hauntingly beautiful piano passages. somehow weldroid makes it all work: the fusion of darker, edgy leads, cut-up beats, and steady, slow arpeggios, blurred into crystalline infinity.

the newest weldroid record is a studied contrast between frenetic, aggressive textures and restrained, mellow interludes. the feverish energy from earlier releases is still present, but is now redirected into tightly focused bursts of glitch transmissions with a measured, melodic, thoughtful cadence.

Фиорд – Третий тайм
The Moscow-based artist Fiord has released the third album. As compared to the previous long play “Квадроколесо”, the new record “Третий тайм” seems to sound less complicated musically however
the lyrics turn out to be more direct. Still the album develops the statement which has been claimed by its predecessors: mecanical parts, authentic vocals, unique harmonies and lyrics.

The Fat

“Meat Me”

The Fat – Meat Me
For its 26th release, Da ! Heard It Records invites you to come meet The Fat, with their first album: “Meat Me”.

The Fat, a band based in the north of Paris, consists of two pillars: Jacques de Candé and Thomas Suire. Louis Pontvianne and Romain Drogoul join the two comrades live. One year after their first stage performance at Instants Chavirés, aside pioneers of Russian industrial music Vetrophonia, their first album, Meat Me, comes out.

The band aims to let the synths speak. Their qualities, their flaws, the damage they’ve suffered overtime are as utilized in the conception of the pieces as are lengthy improvisation sessions.
A festival of Moog, DSI, Roland, Aelita, Jomox, Oberheim, Eowave… The use of exclusively analog machines kindles a usually cold sound into a latent dampness. The construction of the pieces from a bass line, blurry yet well-framed, thanks to a crispy solid rhythm reminiscent of Oto, accentuates our indecision between choppy gesticulations and petrified emotion.

At the beginning of the album, a languorous beat skews all pulse of excitement and favors a listening focused on all of the subtleties in the variations of sonorous matters. When the rhythm accelerates later on, a tribal dialog settles in, where the roundness of the exchanges between melodies and the rhythm box’s primary pulses tangle in despair, as if bliss only ever belonged to the past. A few infecticidian gimmicks erupt on certain tracks, and our bodies appropriate this music in a measured gestural.

Now, it is your turn to appreciate and have your emotions ascend. Shh!… Listen, there…
That little repetitive sound, in the background, in a psychotic spiral, where is it taking us to ? Are we not heading towards Forbidden Planet?
To create the visuals on the sleeve, the band called on Pia-Mélissa Laroche, a graphic illustrator that cherishes lead. Pia’s universe is a mixture of anatomical imagery and geometric volumes where spheres, cubes, and organic cells intertwine. We lose ourselves, like children, in this very personal interpretation of an infinitely small world.

C. Reider – Awkward Hugs
Awkward Hugs is by C. Reider, a guest from Vuzh Music netlabel. “This is some work I did in 2007, directly after ending my work with the drone collective Drone Forest. I wanted to do some music that fell far outside of that group’s constraints (no beat, no melody). This music reflects an interest in minimal techno that I had at the time. The exploration of beat-oriented material during this time eventually led to the series of releases I called The Electret Quintet, which merged the accessible material presented here with a more experimental approach.”

“Insula in Remix”

LLuvia Acida + Friends – Insula in Remix
Insula in albis
circumdederunt per glaciem maris,
infesta, in fine mundi.

Terra Australis, Terra Incognita.
Ventus magis placent.
Orate mare ut revertar in patriam.

(Island of while
surrounded by sea ice.
Hostile, at the end of the world.

Southern earth, unknown land.
Wind in favor.
We pray to the sea to return us home).

With these words pronounced in Latin(1) by our friend and colleague Frank Benkho “Insula in Remix” begins, a collection of remixes and versions of the pieces that gave form to our disc “Insula in albis” (Pueblo Nuevo/Eolo, 2013). In a way, it is the final link of a work that started nearly two years ago, when we traveled with the support of the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) to a secluded place located on the borders of civilization: King George Island (South Shetlands, Antarctica). There we collected images and sounds, both natural and human in origin, in an environment in which the majestic landscapes contrast with the technology used to resist the onslaught of the elements. We met people of different nations and cultures, sharing together in this environment of water, stone, ice, and rusted metal.

We presented “Insula in albis” in the Teatro Municipal “José Bohr” in Punta Arenas in the Celebration of 50 years of the Chilean Antarctic Institute. At the beginning of 2014 we managed to return to King George Island and we presented the work before the personnel of the “Eduardo Frei” base, in what was our second recital in Antarctica. After having shown it in Buenos Aires and Santiago, we decided to invite other musicians to reinterpret our discoveries, to make them their own and give them new forms in their own style. We appreciate the time and effort each one invested in realizing their contributions. We hope that we manage to transmit once again to all those who follow our trajectory the excitement we feel when we put our feet on this island, where people live together in a way that the rest of the world should imitate. “Insula in Remix” is available here, to help you set forth on a sonic flight towards the Continent of Light.
