about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Berton’s report”

ANDREY KIREYEV – Berton’s report
This artwork is devoted significant date in the musical aesthetics of the 20th century, to the centenary of the manifesto Luigi Russolo “The Art of Noises”. Written in 1913 by an appeal to musicians contemporaries, encourages use them to further the development of music, innovative tools produce major noises that appeared in our life with the advent of machines and mechanisms. The original sound that I use in this work, does not sound in the final soundtrack. Working in the direction of the Russolo, extending the frequency range of scores up to the limits of modern audio playback devices, I picked it up tone beyond human hearing. The soundtrack I suggest you listen to, made of artifacts – mathematical errors encountered by computer based microwave modulation of sound, the nature of which today I find it difficult to explain. This situation seemed similar to the one which hit the protagonist of Andrey Tarkovsky’s, the pilot Berton, who tried in vain to explain what he saw in his report on the Solaris phenomenon, not recorded his movie cameras. I turned on the movie “Solaris” and had difficulty coping with an unusual sound, played for you a modern version of the soundtrack for the film of this episode. Since the work of Luigi Russolo and Andrei Tarkovsky harmoniously united in this effort, I can assume that these two great men – the descendants of the extraterrestrial people, worthy of respect.

“Insula in albis”

Lluvia Acida – Insula in albis
One of our topics of interest as musicians has been the Antarctic – as a natural space, a territory of history, and as a search for understanding. This interest has materialized in various artistic works. The first was the album “Antártikos” (Eolo – INACH, 2005), which told the story of the white continent, through songs and instrumentals from the distant prehistoric past to the present. We were able to present it in 2007 in the gymnasium of “The Eduardo Frei” base on King George Island. But we could only be there for four hours, which was just long enough to play for the Chilean, Korean and Uruguayan staff who attended, and to familiarize ourselves a little with the facilities there.

In 2012 we collaborated with Instituto Antártico Chileno INACH in editing and musicalizing the documentary “El Continente de la Luz: Primeras Expediciones Chilena en la Antártica” (The continent of the light: first expeditions Chilean in the Antarctic), based on historical video footage restored by the Cineteca Nacional. We performed it live during two concerts in Santiago – one at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) and another at the International Book Fair of Santiago (FILSA). At that time, we were already harboring a dream to assemble our own expedition, one that would allow us to return to a place that we had not yet been able to explore in depth.

So we proposed a project to INACH, which was approved and which allowed us to travel at the end of March 2013. We stayed several days on King George Island, recording ambient sounds of radio telecommunications, structures, and other elements. And we were able to gather a large amount of material, as much video as audio, which helped us to compose and record an album and edit a movie.

“Insula in albis” reflects in music and images different aspects of the natural and human life of King George Island: stunning landscapes, native wildlife, men working and communicating through Radio, the effort of Chileans present there, the amazing infrastructure of the “Great wall” base (China), the mysticism of Mother Russia at the base “Bellinghausen,” and the warmth of the base “Artigas” (Uruguay). The theme underlying this work is the cooperation between men of distinct cultures, who represent their countries, but who also share an experience as members of the same human species in this territory – a great example for the rest of a world, divided by diverse conflicts. Thus, we have carried to the limit our concept of electronic music as a tool of not only sonic exploration, but also geographical. We invite you to share with us this journey, one that took us to the last frontier of the Earth, heading to an island that we can never forget…

“Exist”

Planet Boelex – Exist
Its taken a long time in coming, and we didn’t know if it was even going to happen, but the rumours were correct! This year is the year of comebacks, first with Boards of Canada and now we have Planet Boelex returning from the silence, with his first EP after his self enforced break.

Exist is the culmination of many sleepless nights ending with 6 tracks (43 minutes playing time) of pure Planet Boelex bliss! Of course, as its a Boelex release, we get a few surprise guests along for the ride, and Exist is no different. Bad Loop, Mosaik, Weldroid and Krister Linder are featured along with a sublime track ‘Stay’ by Lisas Antenna.

So, what do we get? Thumping deep basses and leads that soar into the stratosphere, delicate trademark arpeggios from our favourite artists, leading into bass bin rocking basslines, delicate and subtle pads and that progressive edge to get the adrenaline going. You can find all the classic elements that we’re familiar with from each artist in the tracks, but directed masterly by Boelex himself.

cover artwork: Photography “The Tumble” by Giles P Croft, processing by Matt Whyman

Tracks 1-3 & 5-6 Mastering by Christopher Leary at Melograf Mastering

Track 4 Words & vocals by Krister Linder

Track 4 Mastering by Christofer Stannow at Cosmos Mastering

Tracks of choice by this Boelex fan: The truly amazing ‘Stay’, Unreasonable Reasoning. Brilliant!

Fucksia is an Italian glitch pop musician inspired by German and Icelandic artists such as those signed by the label Morr Music and the bands Sigur Rós and Mùm. He produces sweet and melancholy melodies to listen with your eyes closed. This project was born as a game with no serious intentions and it continues to be so, Fucksia produces music to be listened in small environments like a “little bedroom”, using noises and jingles as his tools.

“A Retrospective”

Starpilot – A Retrospective
On July 6th in 2012 TWG opened its doors with ‘Ragged Smile’ by Starpilot. Mixing elements of psychedelic rock, progressive experimentalism and post-punk, Starpilot crafted a hugely infectious mix of chiptune and indie that to this day, over a year later, still stands proud as one of the greatest releases we’ve put out. It cemented TWG’s ideals in one fell swoop; chiptune experimentalism, the new and the old entwined both through instruments and stylistically.

As such, owing the great talent for both an explosive launch title and his continued moral support, it was with a great deal of bittersweet sorrow I greeted the news he’d be moving on. Following the release of ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’, his final collection of new material under the Starpilot moniker, I felt a tribute should be paid to his, needless to say prolific, past. A week or two later and, upon his request, we’ve curated down nearly three years, twenty releases released by multiple labels and countless compilations into a single, 17 track solidified statement and testament to the huge talent this incredible artist holds; a small example of why so many will be sad to see his absence.

Not everyone’s favourite tracks will be present, and not every release is covered, but as a manifesto of a hugely active artist this Retrospective hopefully does him proud. For the fans already; enjoy revisiting the classics along with some more hidden stuff you may not have heard before. To the first-timers; enjoy the journey in which you’re about to embark!

Midnight Moodswings & Seiswork – The Dopamine Recursive
“And in the end, the beaches are left spread out into solitude waiting to be praised for their beauty. The cities creep up like hateful religions filled with nothing; but still pulchritudinous enough to entice just about anyone. The streets lie covered in cigarette butts. The pavements are stitched together with one predicament after another. A million homeless dreams holding each other’s hands and never letting go. “WALK ON US TO GIVE US PURPOSE” The million bombs and dreams that we sacredly sit on every day are the only things that define us anymore. Our prayers are like those bombs, only difference being that they implode. Singing out loud into the ocean, nobody sleeps into silence anymore.”
A collaboration record between Seiswork (Belgium) and Midnight Moodswings (USA). The record explores a mix between acoustic instrumentation, natural soundscapes and different forms of electronica.

Gozne – Transmition Machine

Gozne – Transmition Machine
[pn082]

Gozne

“Transmition Machine”

Gozne – Transmition Machine
The Chilean musician Gozne this 2014 celebrated 30 years of noise. A sound that has several nuances; Circuit Bending experimentation, abandonware, real synthesizers, computers, Mac, PC, iPad, variety of plugins (in OSx, Windows, Linux) and noisy DIY aparats. Joining this results in their particular sound.

“Transmition Machine” (something like “Transmission from the machine”), robotic voice has more than his previous works, he enters a plane almost “Electro” reminding the Germans Kraftwerk, – even to the current staging of Gozne – without being a blatant copy. The sound is analog and deep, varying between 100, 110, 115 and 124 BPM. Minimalist at times, experimental in others. The voices provide spoken word, no song, just phrases that say: Time Bomb, Total Devastation, Technologic Music, Planet of Confusions and more, which provide each subject not only their title, also their particular environment and development.

The audio-visual show called “Random iLive Action” is clearly present in this work since each track was recorded as if it were a show more and only the voices were incorporated later. The random concept remains “nothing goes the same twice” and for that reason, this work can be executed again live or studio but never sound the same, keep the concept of each track, but each party shall again “Randomized” giving to each performance the same character but with different.

Mekha – Immersion LP
Experimental bass and deep techno tracks.

Mekha provides a deep, introspective selection of tracks, working in his own dark glitchy beeped-up dub-techno style of beatmaking with a range of collaborators.

Spaceape-esque vocals from MegaZimze, dusty female focals from Snowflake and a host of far-out remixes from Dsve Hosx, The Raging Sea, Emmerichk and Plug.

This is headphone electronica at it’s most polished.

andrea pensado – teraz, tak!
andrea pensado works with sound as a performer, composer and teacher. she has been using digital media and live interactive musical systems since 1995. she studied in argentina and poland. at first she composed mainly for acoustic instruments, however, she gradually felt more attracted by different sound realms. today, the abrasive digital noise of her improvisations is far away from her earlier pieces. harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combine hybrid synthesis and sampling techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making. she currently lives in the united states.

teraz, tak!, her first album for pan y rosas, begins with a solo performance by andrea and is followed by a series of duets between andrea and the musicians: walter wright, davindar singh, adriana de los santos and alexei borisov who provide additional electronics, saxophone, piano and guitar respectively.

“Into The Ether”

Origami Repetika – Into The Ether
TWG is proud to present to you the newest work by Origami Repetika. Much like his previous efforts, ‘Into The Ether’ focuses on subtlety and melody. Esoteric phrases glide over each other whilst soft FM sounds coax ethereal atmospheres and throat-catching beauty every second. Instead of sticking to traditional song structures, ‘Into The Ether’ swoons from one euphoric high to another, forming a free flowing wash of genres, inspirations and experiences.
At its very core, this release embodies understated glory, and repeat listens will leave a more bombastic and lasting impression than the previous spin. From the melancholic serenity of ‘honeyknocker meadows’ to the quiet groove of ‘love your handy hands’, from the enveloping samples and elation of ‘gaily into the ether’ to the quiet grandiloquence of ‘cure’s climax, ‘Into The Ether’ is delicate, elusive and so incredibly at home on TWG. 12 minutes of ingenuity and bliss.
