about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

[MLD023]

Marino69

“Black Sheep”

Explore the magic of experimental music directly in this amazing performance by Marino69. He expresses the underground-style as something alluring. On the other hand, this style is usually considered to be on the edge of mainstream. Come on, absorb it and stand out from the flock.

David Scott – The Unjazz

[016]

David Scott

“The Unjazz”

“When I started writing the music for The Unjazz, I was attempting to create a jam session between technically advanced jazz musicians that could only exist in the hyper-realistic realms of sequencers and digital audio synthesis. After the first song was finished, I realized that it was too clean. So, I went back into the track and carefully created small misalignments in timing and rhythm to add the human factor into the music. As a result, the parts jump, move, and slide around as if performed by professional musicians.”

Telegraphy – Deep Tape Loops

[iono-11]

Telegraphy

“Deep Tape Loops”

“Deep Tape Loops” is the first full length album by resident artist Telegraphy. A project put together that consists of modified cassette tape loops, laptop, vintage vacuum tube receiver, and various analog effects. “Deep Tape Loops” delves into basic minimal-techno dub using vintage techniques.

Trying to make new sounds in a analog way is mighty difficult. In the age of sophisticated audio manipulation software where the novice can created wonderful sounds with ease, it just no wounder why many artist have dropped their analog gear for virtual equipment. Telegraphy on the other hand, has taken minimal-techno back in time, where all that was available was analog.

Synth loops were provided by cassette tape loops along with various analog effects. By using these loops, a more rich sound was produced which was not obtained by traditional software based methods.

Hannah Marshall – Tulse Hill

[LOR028]

Hannah Marshall

“Tulse Hill”

I’m very excited to present this extraordinary collection of solo acoustic cello improvisations from the British musician Hannah Marshall. Microtonal African tinged arpegiating create mesmeric circular patterns, occasionally giving way to deep drones. These are augmented by outside noises such as interactions with ventilators and field recordings, “Tulse Hill” is an engrossing listen.

Release includes a PDF booklet of notes and drawings by Hannah Marshall.

Clarabella Olssen – Rosalong

[WOND001]

Clarabella Olssen

“Rosalong”

We are very happy to present you Wondermachine 001. The title of the opening EP is “Rosalong” by Clarabella Olssen, it includes a remix by Storlon.

Clarabella Olssen is the alias of Andres Marcos Revellado used for spontaneous musical structures based on improvisation, live and field recordings. The music produced under this moniker is focused on trial concepts and impulsive arrangements. Andres Marcos never liked rules, Clarabella Olssen is the perfect alibi to share his vision.

Andres Marcos and Storlon have been collaborating on several projects already so they know each other very well and have a very compatible taste in music. Storlon has developed an unique and recognizable style, his interpretation of Rosalong is an illustration of his approach.

Let’s air the dirty laundry in public!

02 – Atlantic

Daniel Barbiero – Not One Nor

[zero137]

Daniel Barbiero

“Not One Nor”

Not One Nor presents two works made of discrete events foregrounding the materiality of a large string instrument in its role as a resonating chamber. Both pieces are constructed out of a limited number of gestures and/or pitches and points on the instrument’s geography with the intention of producing an immersion in sound as material, interspersed with contrasting pauses.

Not One Nor for prepared double bass calls for shifting variations in timbre through the use of three gestures corresponding to three different regions of the instrument.

Eighteen Events for Double Bass alternates eighteen prescribed sound actions with an equal number of non-actions to create an image of the flux of aural perception.

Daniel Barbiero: composer, double bass and prepared double bass.
Composed and recorded winter into spring 2012.
Recorded in Silver Spring, Maryland USA.
Mastering by Mark Beazley.

Cum Moenia – Dal Numero alla Forma

[NN_EP014_10_12]

Cum Moenia

“Dal Numero alla Forma”

The Cum Moenia, a post-rock band formed in April 2011, cultivate a passion for music in different ways: the approach and the purpose, creating its own reality and its own form. Among other experiences more ‘or less concrete, each member of the band found the right identity and the right direction to figure out which is the very favorite music. Since January 2012, the band has performed in many concerts and contests receiving a favorable response from the public. First self-produced EP is the result of a commitment and a sound research that does not stop the simple labeling of “post-rock band “, but hatchin instead an extraordinary and explicity expressive power where a veiled presence of electronic lives a polite syncretism with signs of progressive that make precious the entire musical project. “Cum moenia” where “Moenia” means “wall”, a wall in common. “Communis” means “to be with”, to create a contact. A gift to share just for create a contact without wall too high. Music really need to join in creating a small emotional barrier where inside move ideas and common intentions. It ‘s very easy to confuse the real essence of music as art, to enhance it needs respect and value-humility and “audacity” to bring in the best way that’ where and therefore believes that ‘you do’…in them and in many other cases it is the music, the only way out or only route of entry.

Concrete – études

[NN_LP028_10_12]

Concrete

“études”

“Concrete” is a mark founded by Alessandro Farruggio (composer, musician and music therapist) and Carmelo Kint Caramagno (Dj producer). The line of thought of “Concrete” is an idea musically open; moves only with Net Labels. “Concrete” is also a mobile recording studio, does not stop only at experimentation, but follow different music genres without being prisoner of the commercial products that work immediately in the music industry. The études, releases by Nostress Netlabel, are basically experimental ambient and electronic music works and does not mean to give an artistic and definitive “line” to the Concrete project but only present ideas in costant change and develop during time, depending on the choice of the materials used for compositions and states of mind by composer during his composing and artistic essence. This net digital release has a unique composer, Alessandro Farruggio, an artist with classic recording contracts but he strong believes in the power and useful of Net Labels. Musical thought and artistic composition are open to a lot of different contamination, that’s Alessandro Farruggio thought and in this musical-historical moment he’s working on experimentation and electroacoustic music and sound; in the past rock and alternative pop too, as artistic producer.

Hecrom – Sirius

[ZIMMER084]

Hecrom

“Sirius”

Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name “Sirius” is derived from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios (“glowing” or “scorcher”). The star has the Bayer designation Alpha Canis Majoris (α CMa). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of a white main sequence star of spectral type A1V, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, called Sirius B. The distance separating Sirius A from its companion varies between 8.1 and 31.5 AU.

Sirius appears bright because of both its intrinsic luminosity and its proximity to Earth. At a distance of 2.6 parsecs (8.6 ly), as determined by the Hipparcos astrometry satellite, the Sirius system is one of Earth’s near neighbors; for Northern-hemisphere observers between 30 degrees and 73 degrees of latitude (including almost all of Europe and North America), it is the closest star (after the Sun) that can be seen with a naked eye. Sirius is gradually moving closer to the Solar System, so it will slightly increase in brightness over the next 60,000 years. After that time its distance will begin to recede, but it will continue to be the brightest star in the Earth’s sky for the next 210,000 years.

Sirius A is about twice as massive as the Sun and has an absolute visual magnitude of 1.42. It is 25 times more luminous than the Sun but has a significantly lower luminosity than other bright stars such as Canopus or Rigel. The system is between 200 and 300 million years old. It was originally composed of two bright bluish stars. The more massive of these, Sirius B, consumed its resources and became a red giant before shedding its outer layers and collapsing into its current state as a white dwarf around 120 million years ago.

Sirius is also known colloquially as the “Dog Star”, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the “dog days” of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians it marked winter and was an important star for navigation around the Pacific Ocean.

tsone – Pattern Recognition

[at056]

tsone

“Pattern Recognition”

Its always a pleasure to have an artist to release twice or more in the same catalogue, now is the time of Tony Obr (tsone) whose work was released a while back in this very label with that wonderful piece called A Sea Beyond Reckoning. It is worthwhile to take a listen to that very album and then confront this new instalment, pattern recognition.

Both works certainly have many nodes and connections, tsone has been able to deliver a canvas where he presents his own language, if in A Sea Beyond Reckoning it was already confirmed that effectively, tsone sounded like tsone, now we get back a new tweak on his way to understand composition, structure and timber palette. So, knowing this one can find comfort on knowing what are you about to listen.

Pattern Recognition is a tour-de-force in which Tony Obr delivers a perfectly crafted ambient music album, a piece that passes by slowly and evolves on a continuous succession of still images framed in sound. Truly a very gentle listening experience suitable for many ears and tastes.
