Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Sjöarna”… According to the researchers of Högskolan i Gävle, people in Sweden turn to nature instead of religion when going through a major life crisis. “Naturen har blivit det heligaste vi har”, nature has become the holiest that we have… This album, inspired by Swedish nature, was created during the darkest times when it comes to the personal life crisis, and I’m glad that something good came out of it creative-wise as well.

Bright Falls

“Self-Titled”

Bright Falls – Self-Titled
Bright Falls take their name – surely – from the Xbox game and related live-action web series “Alan Wake.” In essence the main narrative arc concerns a writer who, while spending time in the backwaters of Washington State – i.e., in Bright Falls – finds that his wife has disappeared. Then, to make matters worse, he is unnerved by a snowballing series of events that appear to come from some novel he only vaguely recalls writing. The further he travels into the fir trees and away from city lights, the less control he has over his destiny. Hence, perhaps, the tendency towards surreal reverie both in Bright Falls’ PR materials and the definitions of their music as “gentle shoegaze that’s occasionally prone to meditative psychedelia”.

Jan Strach

“Trawiaste Miasto”

Jan Strach – Trawiaste Miasto
Jan Strach, a lofi artist and an avid worshipper of the DIY doctrine, returns with another full length, as sprawling and ecclectic , as are JS’s inspirations: Frank Zappa, P.M. Dawn, 90s nostalgia, the city of Poznań, cheesy Casio sounds, odd time signatures, wacky chord changes.

There are no dull moments here, no filler, genres skipping between synth pop, grunge, progressive elements and even elements of reggae and fusion jazz interludes. The landscape is filled with elements of 90s popculture (through a Polish lens), and the cryptic lyrics describe, in Polish, nostalgic reality with poetic pathos. All the songs are , as all on Underpolen netlabel, with a lo-fi angle and a homeproduced charm.

Jan Strach is always ready to play with forms and genres. There is a song in 15/16 about a clock, adding 1 letter each verse up to 12. There is a bluegrass/country song with a warped synth interlude. An upbeat Casio pop number which suddenly erupts with farmyard samples which transform it into a swinging jazz instrumental. And so on.

The main hero of the album, however is the melody. It is clear that this is Jan Strach’s first love, and the thing that he keeps aiming for. Amidst all this disregard for genre and stylistic clarity, the one utmost pervasive tendency can be seen, and that is, to keep the tunes pretty and memorable.

Released on Jan Strach’s Underpolen Netlabel, where you can find all of his other projects and bands, as well as other riveting DIY acts

Jan Strach

“Nie ma jak w domu e.p.”

Jan Strach – Nie ma jak w domu e.p.
Released as part of the first global Netlabel Day, this e.p. by Jan Strach continues the tradition started with the previous e.p., “Jan Strach Piszczy W Narożniku”. It collects songs and instrumentals created while Jan Strach was working on his full length albums, their only problem being that they did not fit in with the longplays’ general atmosphere.

Otherwise, Jan Strach is proud and happy to present to the world this collection of beautiful things, as usual with JS full of stylistic surprises: a wobbly weave of ping-pongy piano combined with a barely breathing flute and a dirty one-string guitar; a marimba-stylophone luau reverberating as if from a cave with stomping and finger snaps. A shoe-noisy dreamy rock tune about travelling birds, and a punk thing with girly choruses in a time signature of i-lost-count/4 and a toy and a flute; that’s not all.

As usual with Underpolen Netlabel offerings it is lo-fi, diy, full of odd passionate homemade energy.

Cairo Braga’s new single ‘Thanatos’ is the first chapter of his first album cycle (prefaced by his previous single ‘Nature Boy’).
the song is a personal reflection upon the death drive and how to live with it, or not live at all. it’s backed with a cover of Girls’s ‘Lust For Life’ as an attempt to bring a less fateful perspective to an ill-fated narrative. but does it really succeed in that intention?

“How The River Runs Dry”

The Original Beekeepers – How The River Runs Dry
Linear Obsessional presents the new album from English underground pop mainstays The Original Beekeepers, who have been releasing low-level works of sardonic pop genius for the best part of 30 years.

“How The River Runs Dry” is a collection of interconnected songs that piece together a story set in British suburbia. Featuring dryly humorous lyrics and the kind of intricate arrangements (including a brass section and guest vocalists) for which the band has become known, this album, several years in the making, has been described by the band as “probably our best / most consistent work since 2002”.

The Original Beekeepers are Linear Obsessional’s resident pop group, and this album, running from the exquisite pop of “Cats On Window Sills” to the Sun Ra skank of “Breaking Down” demands your attention.

Emerald Park – Go!Go!Go!
23 Seconds Netlabel proudly presents our sixth release by the Malmö indie pop group, Emerald Park.

In 2015, Emerald Park have taken on a somewhat more divergent musical persona. With much experimentation, their sound has grown beautifully, travelling from acoustic and ukelele-driven tunes to more indie pop and electronic atmospheres, the band having shifted towards the use of electric guitars, Moogs and various synths. The Swedish outfit find strength and resource in this continuous progress, making the new 7-track album “Go!Go!Go!” a very compelling record and listening experience.

Happy Puppy is pleased to add the music of Taker 51 from Spain to our little home on the net. It’s the personal project of Raul Díaz, where he blends an organic mix of electric and acoustic sounds, ranging from ambient to industrial.

I supposed it would be labeled as ‘post-rock’ (a term I’ve never really understood), but there’s also some nice progressive rock elements, as heard on the opening track “Supercell”. It’s got lots of cool synths, guitars and drums. It’s nicely arranged, produced and played and we hope you enjoy it as much as we.

TIGERBERRY – Break the Lies (Official Video Clip)
«As an independent band TIGERBERRY decided to handle all the aspects of the video production. They invited Ketto Science to make something completely extraordinary. As Fedor Ferapontov said: “We needed Ketto Science cause he had an amazing experience in dance music production. Dope underground things”. The plot of the video is highly connected with the lyrics of the song. Vladimir Berlizev: “Let’s say that one does something wrong, but there is no one to evidence that. So he/she decides to move on without making it right. That is a way people spoil things I believe. To live a life you’ve got to go back and break it. That is the meaning.” Highly influenced by web punk, “Break the Lies” appears to be a mixture of 3D models, distorted colors and psychedelic effects. Band members were filmed with the help of Xbox Kinect camera to make band members fit the digital universe. “In the video we show things that are not real, things that have changed our life so dramatically that there seems to be no way out. The Internet has destroyed the world we used to live in. Everything is digital.» — Vladimir Berlizev.

adcBicycle – Malignant Cove
Malignant Cove is adcBicycle’s 3rd album. All tracks are about a rocky ocean cove in Nova Scotia, Canada. The album was constructed to be catchy, dark, background music. The music engages the listener with gritty analog sounds, loosely played instruments and driving beats, yet at the same time sits peacefully in the background with distant vocals, slow building drama and a consistent dark pop mood.
