about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Bon-Psy – Cursed Life

Bon-Psy – Cursed Life
[07]

Bon-Psy

“Cursed Life”

On his latest release, Bon-Psy promotes empowerment of the mind, or at the very least, the notion that we all have the ability to control our own negative thoughts.

Cursed Life begins in a bleak state of affairs, murky pianos fill the space whilst a poignant commentary details the mental challenges people face in their adolescence. With this, Bon-Psy sets the scene, and provides insight into his own circumstances growing up.

As the track progresses, we are exposed to a variety of moods and styles. Bon-Psy navigates this gloomy world he has manifested, exploring its depths and finding glimmers of hope intertwined with jazz infused Electronica.

The closing stages of Cursed Life suggest a newfound sense of power. The once disheartening commentary now appears imbued with a fighting spirit, suggesting to the listener that they have the power within themselves to control and appease the mental anguish that plagues them.

“Many times in my life I have felt cursed. On my worst days, the mental anguish of just being a human, and the trials and tribulations associated with it feel like too much of a burden to bear. At some point in our lives we are all destined for a degree of extreme hardship, sadness, depression, anxiety, death or despair, and it can appear at times that as humans we really are cursed in that sense. We find ourselves lost in these states, and digging ourselves out of that hole is a task too big and monstrous to even begin contemplating. But Whilst the world can be daunting and cold beyond measure, you as an individual have the facilities and resources to make your life better. You can get yourself out of those states if you do everything within your power to do so. Take control, move towards a better existence, as there’s something to be said, to know that you’re the sort of creature that can look mortality and catastrophe straight in the eye, and nonetheless, stand up.”

“Frozen Desert”

Origami Repetika, no less. The artist whose free music was recently randomly picked up and used as a background track by a Bollywood-style singer is back with another 20kbps release. No singing this time though, although it’s not hard to imagine someone would like to sing or hum a tune to these pleasurable downtempo tracks. So it wouldn’t be too surprising if these were also turned into songs by someone out there.

Ive been making music since i was 12 years old. but ive been in the music industry for about 4 years now and almost the entire time I’ve been surrounded by people who never had my best interest at heart. I live and die by the quality of my work, not the hype. And the minute anyone does anything to impede on that. You are dead to me. and that’s how it will stay. I had a contract to fulfill and I used a lot of things I was gonna save for the album just to be out of this shit. but it’s over now. this is my last release under a label. From this day on Im free as hell, more free than i already was something I haven’t felt in a long time. I don’t make music for dickriders, I don’t make music for casuals, theres plenty of wanna be ass niggas to fill that void for u, if u just need some bullshit to put on in the background, while u do dishes or whatever. but I’m just not here for that. me and my fans, we like detail. so if your not actually good at what u do. we don’t care. i understand that in this day and age a black man being great at what he does consistently is just not enough for some.

My goals are different my body is different my mind is different, where I came from is different. We’re not aiming at the same thing. I am a true outcast and that’s who I want to draw in. if u feel out of place, in every place. Im here for u. because that exactly how i have always felt. i’m just happy i have people to feel that with now.

my time in the music industry is over because I refuse to be disrespected by people who aren’t respectably in the first place. the only ones I care about now and forever are you my fans, I love u. and for u will always be here. This is the true LP! & i hope u all enjoy

Jahtari – Meanwhile Deep Beneath the Island

Jahtari – Meanwhile Deep Beneath the Island

Jahtari

“Meanwhile Deep Beneath the Island”

Nerdcore Dub versions from ‘The Secret of Monkey Island I & II’ adventure game soundtracks (1990/91), the forgotten Voodoo-Reggae classics from the floppy disc age.

The original game soundtracks by Michael Z. Land, in all their uncanny 16bit-Soundblaster FM-synth glory, were a massive influence for Jahtari (weird computer game reggae!) – but could those soothing and somewhat wimpy tracks be translated into a Heavyweight Dub context, something that might work on a sound system?

Well, here are our attempts from around 2005/06: Meanwhile Deep Below the Island. Sixteen haunting tracks optimized for drinking grog by Gamle Harlev Orchestra & Bo Marley, John Frum, Volfoniq and disrupt. Finished cuts, various dubs and plain demos, raised from the Undead, just for the torment of your ears!

Available as FREE download on Bandcamp – and as limited tape run with alternate ‘Head of the Navigator’ cover!

Kai Nobuko – Ober Attached

Kai Nobuko – Ober Attached
[earthrid-028]

Kai Nobuko

“Ober Attached”

Kai Nobuko is a Dutch musician and producer who has released countless albums (he has definitely lost count!) under his own name and as Toxic Chicken and Covolux.

Kai was recently reunited with his Oberheim OB•12 synthesiser, which he had lent to a friend and then sort of forgotten about. He quickly fell in love with this intrument again, and with this album he presents a sincere homage to the OB•12 in the shape of imagined fantasy “demo tunes”, which showcase what this sky-blue beauty can do. To add to the challenge, no sequencing software or hardware was used. What you hear was played live, in just a few layers of tracks.

Within this dreamy album you might be surprised by what the synth is capable off when treated with love and kindness, but it’s even more likely that you will simply zone out as you find yourself floating away into a cloudless sky, with the OB•12 as your magic carpet.

“We’ve been quiet, but we are still here”

It has been a long time since we released any music out as a label. We’ve been quite (and we still sort of are). This whole new worldwide situation got us thinking in what direction should we go next…and if we should at all. We still haven’t really figured that out, but since we had our 12th anniversary this summer, we’ve decided to gather few tracks from our friends (who you may already know from their past appearances on the label) and offer them as a reminder that we are still here.

Enjoy and do not forget to share & support if you are really feeling it!

Various Artist – 0808 2021 Mountain Day v1.1

“0808 2021 Mountain Day v1.1”

Mountain Day is a traditional celebration day in Japan.
This year, in 2021, it will be held on August 8 for sporty reasons.
The number “808” reminds us of the ROLAND TR-808, of course. It’s the famous drum machine that gave birth to a lot of techno and electro music.
However, it must be said that the overly electronic sound of the TR-808 has been unfairly traded in the decades of history since its birth by the music called Gorge.

The stage is set.
2021, 808, Mountain Day.
On this day, the question “Is it possible to have TR-808 x Mountain x Gorges? The bootists gathered to answer this question.

From Japan, the king of heavy slow music “SLAB,” Drastik Adhesive Force.
TEACHI, a proponent of the ” Island Gorge,” lives in Okinawa and is scheduled to release a full album on GORGE.
IN, and Gorge evangelist hanali, who moved to a remote area of Fukuoka two years ago and whose survival is now in doubt.
Then there’s KΣITO, a DJ and track maker who is leading the Japanese GQOM scene, who hosts the Tokyo-based GQOM party TYO GQOM and is active in the DJ unit GQOMZILLA.

And there are some from abroad who will join this experiment.
>From the Argentinean art community pantanosumpf’s “FANGAL” label, which specializes in Gorge
iZueL_, a Spanish bootist living in Munich, Germany, and
and the enigmatic CURTIEMBRE, who lives in Nueva Pompeia, an underground district in Buenos Aires.
Marginal electro music master Adam Ond Martono from Czechoslovakia also contributed tracks.

What will the chemical reaction of TR-808, mountains, and Gorges produce, or not?
This album is the answer.

2021/08/12 Postscript
Kazuki Koga and Indus Bonze, who had misunderstood the date of Mountain Day, joined additionally and upgraded to v1.1.

“Querencia”

Shika Shika is very happy and proud to share with you “QUERENCIA” our 2021 compilation introducing 14 tracks by artists from 14 different countries.

The theme of this compilation was migration in the broadest sense – how music, people and culture expands and goes beyond borders – and each artist approached that in their own way, in their own context. You can find out more about the inspiration by clicking on the individual tracks.

Querencia: ‘a place where you are your most authentic self; a place from which your strength of character is drawn, where you feel safe, where you feel at home’.

For the artwork, we invited Argentinean visual artist Gala Berger to collaborate with us with one of her pieces. She is co-founder of La Ene (New Energy Museum of Contemporary Art), an experimental museum based in Buenos Aires, and the Paraguay Printed Art Fair, a fair born with the aim of creating alternative platforms of exchange and circulation of independent publications without the traditional restrictions and regulations faced by the mainstream press.

Unseq

“Subject Xi”

This new release comes with a track count that 20kbps has never seen before in an individual artist’s album. Counting no less than fifty tracks, it’s actually a music generating machine, a veritable intonarumore, with an aleatoric element creating endless (well, factorial(50)) configurations, for according to the artist’s instructions, the tracks are meant to be shuffled. In Unseq’s own words: ‘A detailed exploration of a corrupted mind; thoughts scrambled by inner demons striking at the core.’
