about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Contractions For Ophelia”

Weatherglass – Contractions For Ophelia
Linear Obsessional Recordings is delighted to release an album by the English experimental musician Weatherglass-

“Much of the music on Contractions for Ophelia was used as background to the birth of Weatherglass’s grand-daughter, hence the title. All the music originated on acoustic instruments, including plucked and bowed acoustic guitar, lapsteel guitar, harmonium, accordion, dulcimer and found objects. Cornwall and Sykes Reservoir feature as special environmental guests, and vocals were supplied by various waterfowl and a budgie.” – Weatherglass 2012

“Again”

Saito Koji – Again
After a short break in May we start this month with another wonderful release by Saito Koji.

Similar as his former RB-release “Guide” “Again” consists of eight tracks, each 3 minutes long. And also the music hits a similar tone. Droning, distorted and dense guitar tones are swirling around. Every piece contains a short melodic loop, presented in a very uncommon lenth. But the pieces are so compact and dense that you don’t need a 30-minute repeating loop.

I strongly recommend headphones for a proper listening experience. And then just hit the repeat button.

desperation and fear chase us along the way and manage to catch every now and then. those moments come, when you look through objects and people, your thoughts are lost somewhere in between dense thickets of previous life experiences. devastating inertia drives you jaded and weary. comfort is found alongside horror, anguish and stillness. rest your thoughts peacefully and let music heal you into calm acceptance of you being a part of this academy of wandering souls.

Telegraphy – Someone In Detroit
All tracks were written and produced by Richard Sudney(Telegraphy) 2012. “Someone in Detroit” is a forty-five minute live set that embraces dark Detroit pop with pausing’s of experimental Detroit tech-no, noise, and dark ambient sound-scapes. Telegraphy pushes the boundaries out of the occult electronic music scene and into the revealed sound environment. The whole intention of this live set is to be a continuation of the monumental live performance “Somewhere In Detroit” [iono-5]

Dan Miñoza & Mystified

“Sun Drop Split”

Dan Miñoza & Mystified – Sun Drop Split
Thomas Park has been involved with music for his entire life. He was trained in classical and jazz music as a teenager, and played the trombone and piano. His listening habits changed in the late 1980’s, and Thomas became interested in electronic music. After several years of writing techno as the band AutoCad, Thomas was fortunate enough to collaborate with Robin Storey of Rapoon. This project helped Thomas to evolve into the ambient / drone band Mystified. Mystified has found considerable success, both through online and physical releases, and is known for being proficient, creative and prolific. The music of Mystified is mainly of an atmospheric nature. Sometimes for Thomas less is more, making his music ideal for listening while working, sleeping or doing other things. The music of Mystified especially explores texture, consistency, and a type of variety that could be called subtle. This is not the utopian ambient of the typical soundscape artist. It is serious music for serious people. Mystified music has found many purposes, including scores for films, online and terrestrial radio shows, festivals of aesthetic, political, and other varieties, informational cd-roms, spots on many scores of compilations, and quite a few independent releases.

“One of the best things about the electronic music scene today is the propensity of artists to collaborate and create fusions of styles that have never existed before. The thought of such diverse talents as Dan Miñoza and Thomas Park coming together to make music was enough to seriously pique my interest, and the results were beyond what I even imagined. This is world class ambient music, certainly with a nod or two to the masters of the genre, but with a sensibility and perspective all its own. Deep, majestic sound design combines with serie drones and what I can only describe as esoteric melodies, forming a moody yet beautiful sonic melange. As I listen I imagine a cauldron boiling over with strange vapors filling the space, spirits floating through the haze at the corner of of my eye a sense that another world is right around the corner if only I could stretch my vision a tiny bit further. Truly the kind of ambient music I love to listen to, with just a tinge of spookiness but nevertheless a soothing and fulfilling ride from end to end. Delightful work by two masters of the genre.”

“Volviendo a casa”

neuma – Volviendo a casa
A perfect title for [neuma]´s return to SERIES media squad. In his best shape ever, he offers us songs that move between hip-hop and landscape electronica. Regarding the hip-hop exercise, there is no doubt that ‘224 (falsa alarma)’ is one of the year’s song of the genre, where along with the MC’s Medina and Vito (Bellavista Social Club) they create a fine and emotive piece, perfect for Boom Boxes en español.
In the instru(mental) hip-hop department,’229 (pullovers y encajes)’ offers sexy and cadentious grooves that inhabit your brain for a long time. The ‘Versa 01, 02, 03’ series drop us into that [neuma] ocean where everything is a bit slower, pale but immensely beautiful.

Thuuooom – Uinua
Release date: 07.05.2012
Format: mp3 lp
Length: 6 tracks / 35:47
Genre: ambient

‘Uinua’ is the follow-up to Thuuooom’s 2008 debut ambient album ‘Aava’. As for re:Ep released as Thuoom in 2011, the material comes from his spring’09 sessions for which the starting point was to use sounds found from hard drive only. The material has remained unreleased until now, 3 years later, it’s time for this album to see daylight. The usual Thuuooom drones are here accompanied by more pronounced pulses and even beats as well as more – albeit minimal – melodies than before.

Instruments used on this record: bottles, digital camera (Samsung Digimax A7), electric guitar, glitch, human voice, music box.

“Anders Als Alle”

FJRicharts – Anders Als Alle
While listening to debute album “Anders als alle” by Germany’s FJRicharts, one could rightfully assume it being a study of the relationship between movement and stillness. I’d like to advance the idea that Florian’s music is never either of the two : in its most desolate, cold state emerges immense thrust and motion and, in other more active moments, you feel time coming to a stop. He plays within these parameters with grace and sobriety, resulting in a brooding epic that will justly accompany your spring cloudwatching.

Those pieces have been written for a performing arts event that can be considered to be a contemporary counterpart to a pagan ritual. It took place in september 2008 at the power station Klingenberg near Rummelsburger Bucht (Berlin, Germany) and is based on an idea and concept by Daniela Muschter.

According to this, the musical side embodies an attempt to reinvent germanic sound asthetics with modern media. The pieces represent ›mankind‹, ›nature‹ and ›spirit‹ and various kinds of dialogue between them.

“Intracranial Tales”

hrtspltn – Intracranial Tales
htrspltn is the moniker of Siberian avant-garde producer Ivan Zhurovich, who first got in touch through the humble avenue of a demo submission to Planet Terror a few months back. htrspltn has had a number of releases on Macedonian label Filter, who accurately point out that the only rule that applies is “expect the unexpected”.

Despite its short running time, Intracranial Tales is an incredibly dense experience. Layer upon layer is built up to create a series of atmospheric electronica tracks with a very individual charm. Well worth a listen if you like your electronics downbeat and experimental.

“Tough Love EP”

Julien Demoulin – Tough Love EP
You might know the french sound artist Julien Demoulin from his “Fanø“-release on Audio Gourmet, his recent collaboration “The Bay” with IA on Basses Fréquences, or from his work as Silencio (the new album, “When I’m Gone” was recently released on three:four records). His first release on Resting Bell is the wonderful “Tough Love EP“. 5 tracks with a complete duration of 16 minutes.Glittering and oscillating sounds drifting around. Guitar melodies are glaring through like rays of sunlight. The complete EP has got a very organic, evolving soundscape. Sound ideas develop like little plants and are woven together to small shining islands, where you can lay back and relax. Please welcome the spring and the warm season with this beautiful EP.

This release is also available as a tape from Of Plants with a different tracklist.
