about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Sinistra

“I”

Dave & Suzan Vega Combo hit the minds,
bleak winds in the back,
rolling words of wisdom, techno style.

Out of the cold depths new art forms appear.
This year Phonocake presents sinistra,
first digitally, later on tape.

sinistra is a blend of dark ambient, techno and poetry made by
composer Daniel Williams and author Anne Seidel.

“Our aim is to head for the ritual and the hidden, and to open
everything up into a warm sonic and literary darkness. We do
not write or prepare the music for any of the tracks or material.
All performances in the combination of words and music are
improvised.” (Daniel Williams)

Nicolas Tourney – Ram

Nicolas Tourney

“Ram”

Nicolas Tourney is a french experimental musician and sound designer, also owner of the label Snow in Water Records. With Ram, he offers us an electronic work focused on perception and act of listening, with the use of various sound devices and drones. Ram is a work in-progress with long-sustained tones. Ram submit to the listener some perceptual experience: there would be a “sound” as object of perception and source of this same perception. This held sound that we dress by calling it a soundscape, spacing exploration from the gesture. Look at what draws us to a sound, how listening gets caught up in it, and how it draws our attention to an experience. Ram sounds like a suspense that opens onto interiority. In this silence, the listener finds himself contemplating the act of listening, as if it is the constant noise of natural electricity.

A Hundred Drums – A Hundred Drums

A Hundred Drums – A Hundred Drums

A Hundred Drums

“A Hundred Drums”

Denver-based producer A Hundred Drums demonstrates her wide array of instrumental talents and genre diversity on her self-titled album, available this Valentine’s Day on Gravitas Recordings. Sitting comfortably at seven tracks, this album is Gabrielle Watson’s most ambitious project to date.

Detouring from the deep dubstep sounds that first made a splash in the scene, Watson uses A Hundred Drums to create her own sound and break away from familiarity by showcasing her vast musical influences.

The Valentine’s Day release date and self-titled album is a symbol of what A Hundred Drums intends to accomplish: “A Hundred” was chosen for its spiritual and societal primacy, and “Drums” call our hearts to beat in sync. A Hundred Drums aspires to align all listeners’ heartbeats to her BPM, unifying us all in the music. We beat with one collective heart on the day celebrating love.

A tribute to her passion project, “Shakti Sound” sets listeners on a globetrotting journey into mysterious and minimalistic 808s. A Hundred Drums puts a spotlight on her signature hand drums in “Circles,” which blend in an abstract, downtempo experimental soundscape before James Xavier sings of a wicked flame. Dashing down the dark road, A Hundred Drums tells the haunted tale of the “Boogie Man,” slicing through inky blackness with an eerie bassline and haunting whispers.

“Psy.Area” incorporates cascading psytrance as liquid bass is gradually dripped onto the track. Featuring A Hundred Drums’s first official collaboration with fellow Denver artist, Templo, “Apex” rides the wave through a cave of deep dub and metallic beats. Vibe Emissions “Circles” back to offer an energizing remix of the aforementioned song, incorporating various deep dubstep rhythms and textures. Legendary producer Leon Switch remixes “Lord of Tings,” released originally by Heavy Traffic Recordings and featuring Jayne Gray, into a seductive stupor, closing out A Hundred Drums’s self-titled album in a state of bliss.

Scenes from Suburbia – Cousin Silas & Candy L

Scenes from Suburbia

“Cousin Silas & Candy L”

For me, it is wonderfully bittersweet to release “Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)” by Cousin Silas & Candy L so close to Candy’s birthday … I’m not sure how old she would have been if she had not lost her battle against cancer and, to be honest, it doesn’t matter … what matters is that the world and our wee community of DIY ambient musicians is considerably poorer for her not being with us.

“Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)” was created in collaboration between the adorably prolific Cousin Silas and Candy, who somehow managed to fit in recording her parts to their album while running a netlabel that I, for one, was equally proud and envious of. Candy’s work ethic was unparalleled, as was her creative expression. The atmospheric expressions contained within this album are truly extraordinary, they are varied and engaging … and serve to remind us how much poorer we are for not having Candy in our midst.

This album was earmarked for release on Candy’s label – Studio 4632 – but wasn’t released due to Candy’s untimely passing. I don’t think I am alone in thinking that Candy would not have wanted it to languish on the digital equivalent of a dusty shelf, Cousin Silas certainly didn’t think so when he offered it to waag. I am proud to give this album a home and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

A 320kbps version of this release is available here for free with a lossless version available over on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’.

LUIS MARTE – A PICTURE

LUIS MARTE

“A PICTURE”

This is a work that combines two different disciplines, one visual and one auditory. By combining the photographs of several visual artists, it is mixed through a conductive thread, so that in this conjunction it achieves the perfect union of two aspects of art, photography and sound.
The methodology used to realize this work was to ask each guest artist for a photograph, allowing absolute freedom in its composition. At the same time the guests were asked to create an ambient sound recording from the place in which the picture was taken, using any medium they had on hand (cell phones, recorders, cameras, etc.)
Then each of those recordings was processed using different techniques. They were passed through tapes, processed with pedals, digitally processed on iPad, looped on tape, even sound degradation was used.

Polwor – Mais

Polwor – Mais
[pn149]

Polwor

“Mais”

Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel is pleased to present our first 2020 release: “Mais”, EP from Chilean electronic musician Pablo Guerra Pedroso aka Polwor.

“Mais”, Polwor’s new EP, is presented as a field of sound covered with psychedelic textures. An album where the sonic mutation is surprising, a conceptual work comprising a track and three remixes, that passes through a faint subtlety, while generating softness through melodic pads in combination with low and distorted tones, and a fierce stir of sounds seem that seem to be taken from some mad scientist’s laboratory. All this is complemented by a glitch, to the beat of a defined kick, in the characteristic formula of Polwor’s experimental techno.

René Roco‘s remix disfigures the entire main structure, leaving it in a dislocated polyrhythmic sequence, as if it were a digital error, assembling and disarming the track through a clean digital sound. A peculiar creativity that manages to offer a stylistic hybrid from the most innovative tendencies of the modern electronic music scene.

For his part, Ukyo brings “Mais” to delicacy. He uses the pad harmoniously and smoothly, generating an abysmal depth and innovating from the depths of the Deep through a versatile bass line, while syncopating everything and making this track a penetrating and seductive work.

Mika Martini achieves a spectral variation of the entire piece through continuous and independent sonorities, as if they were programs produced by artificial intelligence after their system has collapsed, still working even as it is falling apart. He manages this through a light pulse that moves towards a crisp rhythmic restoration and an ambient texture, as well as through acute perception in relation to percussion. Energizing and full of unexpected mutations, this is a lush and analog sound design.

In short, this work promises a work of ingenuity, invention and creativity in the hands of composers who have managed to deliver emotion, curiosity and topicality with their music, taking creativity to another level. A fusion between the digital and the analog, the new and the classic, under the banner of a brilliant genius.”

sternenspringer – exoplanet

sternenspringer – exoplanet
[tonAtom.139]

sternenspringer

“exoplanet”

it’s been nine years since the two sternenspringer made quite a splash with their last release on tonAtom. with no less than ten tracks and a running time of over an hour, they now deliver “exoplanet”, a continuation of their space odyssey through everything that has a spacecraft engine or can be found on foreign planets.

the style of “exoplanet” is consistently continued between clear, danceable beats and pleasant crisp clicks, creating wonderful room for space travel: somewhere in between giving a proper push and gazing fascinated out of the window into the vastness of space. hence, musically, this is not just a whirling head cinema. each piece retains a clarity and presence that covers a very own facet of the spectrum and is completely focused on it.
