about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Telegraphy – Kurz-above

[iono-12]

Telegraphy

“Kurz-above”

The twelfth release of ionosonde recordings is all about dub techno on a micro scale. An analog synthesizers were used in this album which explored the the sonic wonders of the super high frequency (SHF) electromagnetic band where radars listen intently. This freqency rang goes by the name “the Ka band” or Kurz-above.

Using only analog gear to produce the best sound quality as posible, Telegraphy recreates sounds that might be heard by a person who’s in control of one of these radars. Atmospheric noise mixes with the steadily cycling “on’s and off’s” of the radar signal, are mimic by synthesizers. Echo’s from distant targets shows up on the view scope in the radar room, the same goes for Telegraphy as he echos his target chord.

With a compute only used as a MIDI source, Telegraphy produces ionosonde recording best sounding album.

“French new breakcore on NKS by Méconium, newcomer from Lille. If you’re into hard electronic sophisticated destruction, this is what you need, a very promising first ep.”

[fr]

Cagey House – This Flag Means be Still

[BS074]

Cagey House

“This Flag Means be Still”

“These tracks are about stasis.

“Living Grass on I-70” started as a short percussion solo. I slowed it way down–something like 800%–until the sound became really degraded. Then I kept altering the pitch until the sonic degradations became the main voice in the track.

“The Finger Can’t See” is an experiment with out of phase repetition, boredom, and annoyance.

“Delicate Clock Runs the Street” is the result of a set of rules that force harmonic motion while simultaneously preventing resolution.”

“The Second Fawn” is an arrangement of a single sample (at different pitches and durations) of a Thor’s Hammer virtual synthesizer being turned off in mid-note.” – Cagey House

Trans Alp – APRÈS QUATRE PIÈCES D’ERIK SATIE

[CML022]

Trans Alp

“APRÈS QUATRE PIÈCES D’ERIK SATIE”

Sebastien desconstructs his way through Erik Satie’s work in these reimaginings of his gnossienne suite. While conserving the original work’s nostalgic, burden-heavy tones, Trans Alp breathes in what seems to be a carefully executed attempt at suspense and space. Erik Satie’s compositions wander in Trans Alp’s vast and deep world, drenched in texture and echoing in space, like a drop of water falling in a pool of static.

Alejandro Remeseiro – Suara Sampah

[sPE-0115]

Alejandro Remeseiro

“Suara Sampah”

Suara Sampah (“Sound Waste” in Indonesian) is a 6 track work by the spanish sound artist and producer Alejandro Remeseiro. Suara Sampah is a sound artwork designed to be carefully listened with headphones; Industrial soundscapes and thrilling drones in a sound that evokes the lack of communication between human beings, the restless seeking of love, and the absurd loneliness of the contemporary world. The intention of the use of repetitive patterns of sound, low frequencies and glitches is to make the listener a bit nervous…but anyway everyone can take these sounds to use as a mirror and try to look at themselves. Maybe the image that this mirror returns to us is not very clear, nice, or even lovely … but, after all, these tracks are just sounds that, in fact, are completely harmless. Or maybe not for you. – Alejandro Remeseiro

Rotten Lily – Blame!

[unpckd11]

Rotten Lily

“Blame! “

Is there a genre?
– A Genre? Actually, its not that easy to call it as a genre… somethow a mixture of postrock- trash -electronic and melodic instrumental -Music… maybe. That´s, what the musicians told you, what it is?
– Oh no, this is what i would say. The four musicians of Rotten Lily will never find one opinion… they are very different, in a way. You can hear it in their sound… the harmonie is Bonzai, the bells are made by Fo, someone of them is singing, and someone else is always in rage… but otherwise, the anger in their sound could also be their fights… In anger are the guitars, for sure. Their sounds are running with the drums faster and faster…

Black Cocks – Sweet Illutions

Black Cocks

“Sweet Illutions”

The name of black cocks (Mauricio Diaz Varela, home producer based in Spain) is original from a song of my other past punk project, so i took the name because i always want to be punk, punk is always in my actitude. I try to put all my creativity and experimentation with sounds and production techniques to this warm sounds, and I feel my music influenced by ambient, noise and concrete music, but I rally want to recrate the old sound in my tracks. I really really don’t like put any tag for my music because i’m open to experimentation. What i want to make feel with my music is warm/lo-fi dark experimentation. I always try to describe my inspirations for each track inspirations form my partner photography’s and form the beat generation and form Japanaese science fiction from 60`s.

ABSRDST – Xhip Quim

[TWG004]

ABSRDST

“Xhip Quim”

Bursting onto the scene with last year’s ‘Home Sweet Home’, ABSRDST has quickly grown both his fan base and his musical scope. Our first release of 2013 sees his return with a new full length dripping with a dark atmosphere.
‘Xhip Quim’ is a single piece broken into 11 parts, playing through as an uninterrupted 49 minute opus. The continuous stream of tightly composed music gives the album a prose-like feel, accented further by the samples telling a story as bleakly oppressive as the music itself. If there was one word to sum up the entire release, it would definitely have to be ‘theatrical’.
The music is difficult to define. Lying somewhere between progressive electronic and dance whilst flirting with glitch, ambient and multiple other genres, ‘Xhip Quim’ takes ABSRDST’s style to a new level, sounding less like something to be defined as chiptune and something more to be defined by its own musical merits.
Blending austere atmospheres with catchy and unforgettable melodies, ABSRDST manages to create a release that lies outside the boundaries of chiptune and becomes straight-up quality electronic music. And quality music that we here at TWG are very, very proud to be hosting. Some words from Jack:
“Xhip Quim is an experiment. It’s a character study, a warning and a confession. It is by far my most personal album. It’s atmospheric, dark and sample heavy. It’s about childhood, abuse, fear, shame, humility, and overcoming all of it.”

[BN_LP001_02_13]

Morphine Bandit

“Subtle Shift Theory”

Morphine Bandit is a project headed by a mysterious man/machine connexion. His purpose is to reach an altered state of consciouness and /or exstatic feelings by means of electronic dronescapes. “The subtle shift” is a direct reference to the way Morphine Bandit produces music. It starts with repetitive, hypnotic drone pads with sounds elements and noisy touches that evolve subtly and immerse the listener in an altered state (according to its mental state just before the listening experience).

Kev Hopper – Tonka Beano

[LOR037]

Kev Hopper

“Tonka Beano”

Linear Obsessional is very excited to present a new album of electronic music from Kev Hopper (Stump, Ticklish, Prescott) created entirely with self-designed virtual machines.

“Tonka Beano” is a delightful exploration of unique sounds, textures and rhythms – a bubbling, effervescent concoction where each track seems to tell a story- sometimes light, sometimes dark, but all within the recognisable sonic spaces that Hopper has made his own.

The download comes with a PDF booklet with detailed notes from Kev plus screenshots of his “machines”.

The physical edition (of 40) comes in a flexible frosted case, with sugar paper inlay, laminated photographic insert, and a random page from “Electric Circuit Diagrams” (1971).
