about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics”

Alejandro Albornoz – Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics
In addition to the publication of the album “Fluctuaciones” (“Fluctuations”) in its physical CD version (pncd11), two online albums are included that can be accessed on the Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel website, “Fluctuaciones 2” (pn113) and “Fluctuaciones 3: Live electronics” (pn114).

In regards to these albums, the time span covered is around 12 years of production alongside the pieces for the CD, several of which were revised during 2016. Although the new ones were completed in 2015, they form part of a collection of works in course, so I understand them as related.

“Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics“, contains just the material that belongs in this very distinct genre, and includes 3 live improvisations (2009, 2011 and 2014). Although at first listening the materials are clearly close to the sonorities of acousmatic works in general, the treatment, especially their articulation over time, is of a different nature, due to the necessity and challenge involved in reproducing, generating and processing sound materials in real time.

The three pieces were created with laptop and synthesizers. I also consider these works to be of some value, although largely as a historical attraction in my career and they are intended to record the interest I have for this technique and aesthetics.

“Skegness Lagoon Walk / Gibraltar Point – Improvisations”

Dallas Simpson – Skegness Lagoon Walk / Gibraltar Point – Improvisations
Field recordings and improvisations recorded at Skegness on the East coast of England.

1. Skegness Lagoon Walk: Wind, Seascape and Improvisation
On August 2nd 2016, at around 6:10pm, while on holiday in Skegness, a live location performance soundwork was created at the Lagoon Walk location.

2. Gibraltar Point: Wind, Seascape and Improvisation
On August 4th 2016 a live location performance was created on the shoreline at Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve at about 9:30am featuring a short walk from the vegetated dune area by the beach to the tidal edge and back to the edge of the dunes.

3. Gibraltar Point Car Park Windscape (vignette)
Recorded in our car on the 4th August 2016 in the Gibraltar Point Visitor’s Car Park shortly before our return home to Nottingham. I discovered by accident that when the driver’s side car door was just ajar a strong wind noise was heard. It was ‘blowing a gale’ at the time. As I had my full binaural recording rig at hand it was too good an opportunity to miss!

Dallas Simpson is an environmental sound artist and has been recording and performing live on location since the mid 1990s. Recordings are exclusively in the binaural format for headphone listening recorded using in-ear custom modified DPA4060 microphones. He engages with locations observing soundscapes and performs live using found objects and surfaces.

“Transmittance #1.5” is an edited sonic document of a live situation – a broadcast of an audio-visual telematic performance in the summer of 2011. The positions of earth satellites published by NORAD were used in real-time to shape the sound textures and the input from a remote audience was used to structure the chapters of the sonic story.

Lefterna – Furthermore

Lefterna

“Furthermore”

Lefterna – Furthermore
Furthermore is a medium lenght concept EP in which Lefterna offers a range of static, slowly changing moods through five ambient/drones and noise sketches. Quoting a famous phrase by Brian Eno about ambient music, Lefterna’s five tracks simply happen. They don’t develop. You won’t find an intro, a fade in, a theme, an outro. Everything the artist wants to tell us unfold in its entirety to our ears as soon as you press play. We wanted to see what happened providing you a 6th bonus track where all the playlist is played and mixed continously. This alternative listening approach will lead you to an interesting journey in which you will experience how five static soundscapes mutate into one another, landing in a final destination you won’t expect how far from the starting point is.

Paolino Canzoneri – Planemo
Paolino Canzoneri is an italian non musician. His experimental approach is an alchemy of acoustic samplings and sonorous fragments, research of sounds and effects that seem to interact in a suggestive way. As a result, the compositions may consist of ambient music, sometimes hypnotic, rhythmic loops with an impression of claustrophobic atonality. The modular synthesis creates sound flows with prolonged dynamics and dilated interlaced by horizontal structure that involves the repetition of sound nucleous, cycles constructed by stacking layers on layers that instill in the listener a feeling of inertia until the end of execution.

Richard Sanderson – A Thousand Concreted Perils
New album of experimental improvisations for melodeon (diatonic button accordion) from London based squeezebox player, morris dancer and head of Linear Obsessional Recordings. “A Thousand Concreted Pearls” goes even further than previous albums, the melodeon is amplified and put through effects pedals and mixed with feedback, or put through a modular synth. This resolutely melodic instrument, and workhorse of English folk is here thrust into an entirely new world.

Stephen Briggs

“Hypnotique”

Stephen Briggs – Hypnotique
We’re happy to offer you the new Stephen Briggs concept ambient release with the usual shoegazish taste, out for the Netlabel Day 2016 special event.

In “Hypnotique”, the vast landscapes we were used to, here enlarge their borders, thanx to the artist’s skill in depicting sonic panoramas with his guitar, effects and looping.

In these five long tracks you will experience relaxed arpeggios and harmonies chasing eachother through textures of guitar pads that dilate our senses. And more, reversed phrases, roaring distant low-pitched notes as rumbling distant thunders, powerful reverbed and distorted riffs and chords.

There’s much stuff in this five steps that are simply titled I, II, III, IV, V, a magic digit sequence of a time-warped pendulum…

So sit back in your favorite armchair in front of a sunset, raise the volume, or take your full range headphones, click “play” and listen loud, relax, take a deep breath and count slowly from one to five and soon you’ll be…
