about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Baradit

“Analog Songs”

“Analog Songs” is an album composed by Felipe Baradit Stevenson, which is distinct in being his first album composed entirely with analog machines. With the creation of the musical instrument store “Midi in Store” directed by Alisú, Felipe began collaborating with synthesizer reviews, which in turn led to his taste for composition with analog hardware and processes. The world of visual and musical art, sexuality, cats, the illusion of a New Constitution that guaranteed multiple rights, the interconnection of analog machines via midi, the possible end of the pandemic, were all influences for the 7 works on this album.

For the graphics, Baradit invited the illustrator Paulina Gutiérrez Paravic to generate an artistic collaboration in Concón, wherein “PaliArt” displays all her talent and interprets the album in an illustration for the cover with her characteristic feminine and oceanic stamp, mixing this with references to the musical themes.

This album incorporates different analog equipment, such as the Argentine GS Music Apollo Mini synthesizer used to make bass lines, and the Korg Volca Keys and Volca Beats used in melodies and rhythms, respectively. The Korg Monologue was also used for basses and leads. Finally, the Korg Electribe EX1 tube sampler was used to reproduce sounds from the classic Roland TR 808 and 909, as well as analog synthesizers sampled from Arturia’s V Collection, such as the Jup 8 V3 or the Jun 6V. All these ingredients ultimately result in a warm, melodic, contemplative sound, yet with character, like a golden sunset by the sea.

Milk and Cookies

“Homework EP”

Milk and Cookies je projekt 2 členů – Luisa (vokály) a Snackill (beaty).

nad labem – IN RUHE AUSRASTEN

nad labem – IN RUHE AUSRASTEN
[djummi.023]

nad labem

“IN RUHE AUSRASTEN”

nad labem, Czech for “on the Elbe”. This is the suffix to the names of some towns that are located at this river on the Czech side. For the trio around the Dresden musician David Friedemann, nad labem also names a place. The one from which his music could emerge, perhaps even had to. It is closely intertwined with his person, the time, and the places (of its creation). nad labem: A fateful place in the best sense of the word, whose vibe constantly resonates through all actions, crafting, and rejection, like a basic tone and ultimately gives the music its peculiar mood.

And it is indeed unique: the vocabulary of Indietronica and Electropop is just the starting point for a sound that seems to get along without references as if it had been created in a valley of the unsuspecting. Bulky grooving beats, well-dosed synthesizer sounds, and clear, direct vocals are the predominant elements of the music. The picture-rich but always encrypted German texts contrast excitingly with this clarity.

While working on the album “IN RUHE AUSRASTEN” the very personal solo project of David Friedemann, also known as the drummer for the Dresden bands Planet9, ne:o and menkenkes, has grown into a trio. Together with the musician friends Friederike Pilz and Marco Sebastian Christ (ne:o, Shortcuts, The Cream Canteens) he worked on his song ideas in 2021/22.

Electrohollyc & MO.

“My Cosmos (Mahorka Reworks)”

MO., an artist who sings, composes, produces and releases wave and electronic music almost exclusively on his Invitro Independent Music label, a Depeche Mode addict from early age, also heavily hooked on all styles of dance, loving pop, listening to rock and totally into life after death, Love and Eternity, has been born (in the distant 1976), living and working in the town of Pleven, Bulgaria, somewhere in the countryside of Eastern Europe, just where the Mahorka netlabel happened to be headquartered. At the dawn of the new millenium, back in 2002, Mahorka had just appeared online as one of the first netlabel pioneers, while MO. released his debut single “Edinstven” (“Only”), which quickly became popular on all radio stations in Bulgaria. Pop diva Maria Ilieva took part in the project, and the remixes on the CD maxi single were produced by the already cult porno_BPM electro pioneers KiNK, SuB and Kei, as well as by the Nu Ages duo, Second Body (Emilian Gatsov) and alternative band SKRE4. After a four-year hiatus, MO. returned with the double maxi single “Loveblaster”, featuring an important bunch of names from his native Bulgarian underground scene such as COOH (Ivan Shopov), Kenogo a.k.a. Ogonek, Second Body, Music Sound Machine, DeckStarr, Paul Legend, Dope Buzz, Victor’s Mob and of course the biggest, today world famous in the dance music scene, KiNK – it was his remix of “Loveblaster” that became the first Bulgarian song broadcast on Fashion TV, as soundtrack to the documentary on the avant-garde designers of Bulgaria. The musical journey of MO. continued with “It’s No Good / All The Time In The World” (A Tribute To Depeche Mode) released in 2010 – a double EP with a downtempo chillout part one (mixes by Pixszels, Ghostwheel, Dope Buzz) and club mixes part two (Monophonique, Paul Legend, Dr. Scissors, DJ Smoke and Dope Buzz). Next up was the ‘Foe Foe’ project that came out in three separate EPs with remixes from Gravity Co., Diass, Alessandro, Anton Pau, FaAXA, Lu40, Help Me Jones, Protuberance, Monophonique and Phil O’Davidson. In 2017, in collaboration with Grooveman, MO. releaased the EP “Dirty”, also with a brutal remix by Charlie (Les Animaux Sauvages). 2018 is the year in which another collaboration with Lu40 followed, the single “Don’t” plus remix EP featuring Alexander Waltz, Alessandro, WildSoul.

Fast forward to 2021, Mahorka was going stronger than ever, including with the very special Netlabel Day collaborative reworks releases each year, while MO., an international popstar already, unveiled a new project with the producer Electrohollyc, premiering the hit single “My Cosmos”. Soonafter MO. and the Mahorka label boss Ivo Petrov were convinced that this is the track to get the Mahorka reworks treatment, a longstanding idea and dream of both of them, after 20 years of friendship and numerous common collaborators. A rollercoaster of killer reworks was assembled and released on Mahorka for Netlabel Day on 14.07.2022.

Rupert Falsch – Im Zenit / In Gefahr

Rupert Falsch – Im Zenit / In Gefahr

Rupert Falsch

“Im Zenit / In Gefahr”

“An intense opening here to a degree that it reminded me of our old faves Add N To (X). That was before the vocals gave ‘Im Zenit / In Gefahr’ a certain robotic lounge and a charm that meant our heart returned to a normal beat range.

For all that Rupert Falsch really appears to be going for it here, a night-time provocateur with an eye on the dancefloor but something more than that too for there is a relentless spirit to the piece that sees it change its colours a couple of times over its running time.

It stands apart for its incessant frequency and there is currency in such things as it affords the listener a hypnotic hideaway as all other distractions are put in the shade.

The whole effect is quite inorganic as if it had been designed by the machines whose sole purpose is to take over but at the same time the rhythmic qualities meant we were quite consumed in a Malajube (or for that matter Air) kind of way.”

The Feminalz – Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3

The Feminalz – Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3
[KAM058]

The Feminalz

“Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 3”

The Feminalz present the third part of the Technoburlesque: the subversive electrocabaret with elements of ex-Yugoslav pop culture and playful queer feminist humor. The door to the disco club, to the new eighties and the old noughties, to modern trap and contemporary schlagers is wide open again. The songs are based on individual acts from the performance Image Snatchers, produced by Institute Emanat, which has been running since April 2013 and has been performed over 60 times. Image Snatchers are a proof that a performative variety show that is responsive to the trends, resistant to social norms and cynical towards normality is a form of social commentary that is very much alive. And so for the third time we have decided that the show deserves a repeatable consumer product.

The adaptations, remixes and the original club music for Image Snatchers show are developed by Luka Prinčič (ex-Nova deViator, Deviant Funk …) together with new and regular members of The Image Snatchers: DeeDeeVoid, Musée-Cunt, GlitterAid and, as songwriter, Gospod Magdalenca. The reshuffled team of The Feminalz present themselves with five new tracks and deliver what they are best at, a mix of instrumental club hits and verbose, text-based songs, which function both as performance acts and as repeatable recordings. The subversive note of the album becomes obvious through a juxtaposition: the remakes of the disco hits “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan and “So Many Men So Little Time” by Miquel Brown become farsical if set beside GlitterAid’s trap song “Gucci gučí” and parodical when set beside the electro theme of “Neodvisne ženske Pt.1” (Independent Women Part I). The third musical portrait of Image Snatchers is rounded off by the remake of the Yugoslav schlager song “Nogometna utakmica” (Football match) by Beti Jurković.

Jenn Kirby – Ravel

Jenn Kirby

“Ravel”

This album explores different aspects of the manipulation of time. I have been asking myself how the digital results of manipulating time relate to my perception of time in the physical world. Having become comfortable watching videos at 2x speed, I recently found myself wanting to 2x a video call. In that moment, getting the information in real-time seemed inefficient. I wondered if I saw efficiency as simply squashing as much as possible into as little time as possible, and what does that mean for making and experiencing music.

I chop up the sounds as I chop up my time – squashing some meaningful moments and escaping from time through rituals of repetition. I enjoy the frantic sound of fighting time, but I am equally interested in the moments of surrender.

I wanted to create and experience music in different time scales. While there is no auditory container for sound, there is a time frame. We have physical limitations to how we can perceive music as the perception of sound is directly linked to time.

The artefacts that are produced from extended time-stretching are processed further to create textures and glitches. The results appear to me as fragments that suggest something lost or something found. Through a collapsing, expanding and ravelling of information, something new is created. It is not simply the same thing played fast or slow, but a new ‘thing’ that is very different to the original source, though still connected to it.

All these tracks began as improvisations. There are no restrictions to the processing and production, except that nothing gets redone. There is some quality in the spontaneity that I want to preserve. Though the material is shaped and transformed in many ways, it has an origin that is connected to a time, place and emotion.
