about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Desh Alb – Alla corte del Super Ego

BN_EP005_09_13

Desh Alb

“Alla corte del Super Ego”

The music as expression of pure art sometimes expresses latents, lacerating and visceral moods. The Italian artist Desh Alb brings indelible marks of questions that have no answers , a persistent pain who have not peace at all costs having to accept a steep path where the mind does not find the light to be , to exist . The musical project entitled “Alla corte del Super Ego” (At the court of the Super Ego), drags sounds, words and shapes of six compositions to a world full of dynamic discontinuous where occasionally apparent glimmers of change seem to instill feelings of newfound clarity and then back down again once again in serious tones almost to sanction a kind of feeling of resignation and worsening . An artistic project with high thickness that tells a tragedy lived too closely, a daily defeat for that few of the human mind knowed and of that so much that the human knowledge unknowed and that it allows us amazed, lost and unarmed leaving only us the awareness of a weeping on a shoulder that can be also that of a guiltless and suffering mother for an ignoble destiny reserved to her. The musical project effective and deep is further enhanced by the contribution of a “reading” of some verses composed by Paolo Ferrarini and some samples in the original language from the movie “Dolores Claiborne” in the 1995 movie based on a book by Stephen King. Ingredients that defines and increases the texture and depth of this project.

Lluvia Acida – Insula in albis

[pn084]

Lluvia Acida

“Insula in albis”

One of our topics of interest as musicians has been the Antarctic – as a natural space, a territory of history, and as a search for understanding. This interest has materialized in various artistic works. The first was the album “Antártikos” (Eolo – INACH, 2005), which told the story of the white continent, through songs and instrumentals from the distant prehistoric past to the present. We were able to present it in 2007 in the gymnasium of “The Eduardo Frei” base on King George Island. But we could only be there for four hours, which was just long enough to play for the Chilean, Korean and Uruguayan staff who attended, and to familiarize ourselves a little with the facilities there.

In 2012 we collaborated with Instituto Antártico Chileno INACH in editing and musicalizing the documentary “El Continente de la Luz: Primeras Expediciones Chilena en la Antártica” (The continent of the light: first expeditions Chilean in the Antarctic), based on historical video footage restored by the Cineteca Nacional. We performed it live during two concerts in Santiago – one at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) and another at the International Book Fair of Santiago (FILSA). At that time, we were already harboring a dream to assemble our own expedition, one that would allow us to return to a place that we had not yet been able to explore in depth.

So we proposed a project to INACH, which was approved and which allowed us to travel at the end of March 2013. We stayed several days on King George Island, recording ambient sounds of radio telecommunications, structures, and other elements. And we were able to gather a large amount of material, as much video as audio, which helped us to compose and record an album and edit a movie.

“Insula in albis” reflects in music and images different aspects of the natural and human life of King George Island: stunning landscapes, native wildlife, men working and communicating through Radio, the effort of Chileans present there, the amazing infrastructure of the “Great wall” base (China), the mysticism of Mother Russia at the base “Bellinghausen,” and the warmth of the base “Artigas” (Uruguay). The theme underlying this work is the cooperation between men of distinct cultures, who represent their countries, but who also share an experience as members of the same human species in this territory – a great example for the rest of a world, divided by diverse conflicts. Thus, we have carried to the limit our concept of electronic music as a tool of not only sonic exploration, but also geographical. We invite you to share with us this journey, one that took us to the last frontier of the Earth, heading to an island that we can never forget…

John Bisset – Van Quixote

[LOR038]

John Bisset

“Van Quixote”

British guitarist John Bisset presents a fantastic selection of his film soundtracks. Originally released on YouTube, the music has been remastered to super Hi-Fi quality.

“I sat in the sun, with the birds making merry, and played my guitar; I took refuge from the rain, wind and even snow, and played my guitar; I repaired the van, and when it was coffee time, I played. In motion, whether on foot or behind the wheel, I sang. As in any other improvising situation I had various options: to follow, to mimic, to conjoin, to oppose, to play on in spite of the racket going on around, to rest on the ambience like a ground bass, or even not to improvise at all but to play a tune… ”
For this album I have selected those pieces which stand alone without imagery.” -from John Bisset’s sleeve notes.

Available as a free download with accompanying 14 page PDF booklet, and as a numbered, limited edition double pack of DVD and audio CD.

id Submerged – Alone

[329]

id Submerged

“Alone”

The first release of 2013 and its a guest artist. id Submerged, based in Norway, creates ambient soundscapes, with a hint of IDM such as you’ll hear in this ep entitled ‘Alone’.

Perhaps inspiration comes from the cold long nights in Norway at this time of year. Or perhaps it reflects his studio time.

Tracks range from the epic ‘Opportunities’ which has echoes of early Radix nuances, to the strangely named ‘noitalerroC’ which sounds heavily influenced by Solar Fields and the like.

A nicely chilled out release to bring in the New Year. Listen and drift away!

Marco Manzella e Antonella Scalia – Oltre…

[NN_EP018_01_13]

Marco Manzella e Antonella Scalia

“Oltre…”

Marco Manzella (electric guitar, born in Palermo) and Antonella Scalia (classical violin, born in Valderice) are a electric and classical musical duo formed in January 2012. After several live performances around Palermo they decided to record an EP with 7 tracks in October 2012, recorded and mixed by Simone Alvich, in their study-test room located in Palermo. Most of the harmonic and melodic structure of their compositions is designed and composed by Marco and after Antonella enhances the music with new melodic solution just to create an emotional and sublime atmosphere. Marco and Antonella are two artists with different experiences and musical genres but they are able to create solutions just to be in a homogeneous universe. The new EP “Oltre…” is a work of electroacoustic avanguard with folk shades which contains a nice post-rock/ambient atmosphere and it’s also has a strong influence of the contemporary-classical genre…and the word of music for cinema’s soundtracks!! Alternating heavenly and ethereal melodies and dark and tormented sonatas, the duo find a precise dimension distinguishing itself and earning the appreciation of the audience and professionists. Sounds of profound intimacy where it’s so easy to feel their instinct of talking, by notes, about themselves, what they see, what they think.

Fredziak – Altitudes

[00051544]

Fredziak

“Altitudes”

New album produced by Fredziak, ALTITUDES is an electronic symphony claiming an uninhibited poetic expression and a certain degree of sophistication. It is a sojourn in an imaginary sonic territory, a route traced in a series of landscapes: the wonder and excitement await the traveler-listener behind every corner, beyond each pass.

Engineer and artist, Fredziak, aka Frédéric Esnault, starts working on music after some experience in literature and painting. He devoted several years to produce the ALTITUDES album with the idea that the gap between contemporary pop, electronic production and classical heritage had no reason to exist. Therefore his work illustrates a form of reconciliation between the traditional approach to music and the most unbridled sound experiments.

ALTITUDES has been released on CD and downloadable files on September 15, 2012. It is published under Creative Commons license.

trans alp

“e blô kend”

Those pieces have been written for a performing arts event that can be considered to be a contemporary counterpart to a pagan ritual. It took place in september 2008 at the power station Klingenberg near Rummelsburger Bucht (Berlin, Germany) and is based on an idea and concept by Daniela Muschter.

According to this, the musical side embodies an attempt to reinvent germanic sound asthetics with modern media. The pieces represent ›mankind‹, ›nature‹ and ›spirit‹ and various kinds of dialogue between them.

Misdea – Libra

[AT025]

Misdea

“Libra”

This suite in 6 parts was composed as a musical comment to the collective exhibition held at Castello Aldobrandesco in Arcidosso (GR) during ALTERAZIONI 2011 – Festival of visual and musical arts -. “Contemporaneity looking towards the future goes perfectly with ancient walls, witnesses of a past which is never the same as the present time nor as what lies behind. Heterogeneous artists are confronted with each other, suspended in another dimension which becomes homegeneous all in a sudden. Past becomes future. Opposites realize to be equals.” Therefore, we tried to re-create a path where opposite balances would musically dialogue, so to leave them to the narration illustrated by painter Giada Matteoli.

Ars Sonor & Co. – 101A 645

[ER056]

Ars Sonor & Co.

“101A 645”

Moving through the rubble, the carnage, the wreckage, the ruin, the dystopia, the effluvia, dwelling in an environment destroyed, among mutants with eyeballs dripping from sockets, the sun shines red and moves sporadic across the sky, so that no spiritual solace could be found a rhythm that cannot be found. There are those coughing on the harsh profaning smoke, yet proclaiming in noisy prayer that it’s all alright. Habits sending our species to an early grave, and we let it happen. There are many who don’t, who renounce these sporadic ways and invent God, they invent God by composing, by coming together and fighting for a just cause, by fasting in the woods, by loving one another unconditional, by ridding compulsion from their lives, from returning to the power of their dreams and the fruitful gifts of this world, and yet through such a damaged filter this can be incredibly difficult. So artists are met with many plights, which in nature’s continuum, extends in their art, their growth, their genetic mapping of emotion. Ars Sonor is a musician whose innermost thoughts trickle down every solid rock she erodes from the earth in the form of foreboding, empowering, tortured, loving pieces of music. Uncompromising and true, my respect for this artist would be difficult to exaggerate. The artist behind Ars Sonor, Laetitia Schteinberg, indeed has undergone many anxious and unpleasant feelings and experiences, which I will not delve into, but through her insistence of inventing this heavenly celestial body, a miracle has brought a triumphant work of pure poetry. Joined by over sixteen different artists, each collaborating with the galactic dream of Sonor’s genius in different tracks, what you have is a masterpiece of collaboration. Blessed with some of the most masterful soundscapers of the true underground, all tracks evoke something entirely different, so I won’t hop too deeply into praise (as much as I’d love to). What cannot go unsaid though, is that despite the versatility, seemingly endless, there is a special concentrated aura to this work as a whole. Put together, this record feels cohesive and articulate. All of the artists concerned, I thank you deeply. Thank you Production Unit Zero. Thank you Hal McGee. Thank you Zreen Toyz. Thank you B.Lone Engines. Thank you William Spivey. Thank you Ethnomite Pux. Thank you Meklabor. Thank you The Implicit Order. Thank you Takadatek. Thank you Amok III. Thank you Mystified. Thank you Roberto Lazzarino. Thank you 3bc. Thank you Peninsolar & Mark Moody. Thank you Consistency Nature. Thank you for your strengthening rhythms, your frozen and smoldering ambient dreams, your wonderful samples from inner alien planets, your wonderful new species of sound grazing tundras of beautiful neoclassical multidimensional trenches. Thank you for coming together and being the stroma of a divine presence. And thank you Ars Sonor, for giving a heart to this work of pure magic, giving a brain to this God amidst the rubble, the carnage, the wreckage, the ruin, the dystopia, the effluvia, of your life and the life of all those who have bodies to suffer with.
