about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

1981 – Neodimia

1981

“Neodimia”

1981 – Neodimia
1981 is an argentinian artist from Concepción del Uruguay, Province from Entre Rios, with an early approach to the musical arts as bass player and experimenting with guitars, keys and percussions. Composing pieces and using an old recorder. In 2004 he started to explore electronic based production. Neodimia derives of this period. An instrumental album with lost words. With the names of the themes we can deduce some concepts: isolation, melancholy, ansiety, plenitude, calm, passion. The metaphoric image of a planet with a eternal autumn, where the mind gives wandering steps, making stops in some short emotions and in the far away memories that talk about reality, this is, maybe, the imaginary sugestion for neodimia.

Originally released by Dice Discos, Argentina.

“Babylon Institution”

Ashley – Babylon Institution
This album is a bit different from all the other Ashley sets. The tracks here are a bit sparser than usual. The bass, the drums, and the skank dominate proceedings throughout.

The song ‘In A De Ghetto’ opens this collection. Followed by the raw dub version, the song is influenced by the dancehall roots tunes of the early 80s. In fact, many of the tracks take inspiration from the most in demand session band of that era, the Roots Radics, and Scientist, the top reggae recording engineer and dub mixer at the time.

Ashley decided to go back to basics on this album. Pure, authentic dub – straight to babylon institution head!

Weldroid – Cure Light Wounds
“Weldroid is back in the Kahvi fold, and with this 9 track album, he’s back up in the top of the Kahvi releases. A few guest artists make an appearance such as Planet Boelex and Mitoma, and with the ambient and electronic nuances that appear throughout this release, there is something for every Kahvi fan.

Fantastic analogue basslines (Diclofenac and Desloratadine) and ambience (Leaving quietly remix) show Weldroid in a different light – from his usual industrial percussion to a more delicate subtle feel.

Check out Flying Fist and Leaving Quietly for some quality production.” (4T/Kahvi Collective)

Alejandro Remeseiro – Storm
Alejandro Remeseiro is a musician and sound artist born in Spain in 1980. Since the year 2003 he has released 30 albums under different names, such as Elias Falken, Thanatorium, Eemian, Prowano Prosper, and The Advanced Antennas. But he his best known in the world of net-labels because of “Konsumprodukt”, a music project which he has released 12 albums. Alejandro has a degree in History and from 5 years ago is investigating the historical aspects of propaganda and sound, the human relations related to conflicts, as well as issues concerning the electroacoustic composition, and boundaries between the listener and the listened work. The aim of his audio works is to create a feeling, a sensation, something that moves and is thought-provoking in the people who listen. His latest sound work, “Storm” is an experimental narrative about the fear of loss, the idea of danger, and control messages. This work is an electroacoustic music project about the Tropical Storm called “Sandy”, which hit the east coast of the United States in October 2012. It is a metaphor about the fear of losing everything that people have, about the fear of death, control messages and disaster prevention. I used the audio of “Civil Defense Alert System” of the United States that could be hearded live during the days that the storm Sandy affected the area of the U.S. East Coast, to build electroacoustic “images” that drives the listener to the sensation of people had during the days of the storm, with the aim of transporting them to situations that not many people faced in their lives.

“die ersten zwei kirchen”

bristophe – die ersten zwei kirchen
bristophe is an improvising duo that consists of brice catherin (from france, based in geneva) and christophe schweizer (from switzerland, based in germany). between them they play instruments like: cello, trombone, a bit of electronics, tuba, a touch of clarinet, plus e.g. recorder and other flutes, double bass, alpine horn, voice, bird calls, a few toys, etc. occasionally the two meet in one place, and that’s when sound happens.

their second album for pyr, die ersten zwei kirchen, is another two disc set – this time documenting two sessions of improvisations that took place in two different churches in germany and switzerland. to explore these spaces, the duo used: strings, brass, church organ, piano, harpsichord, clavichord, and the alphorn as well as their voices, electronics, birdcalls, and little instruments. as always, listen carefully.

jim lace / alex nova – twists
jim lace and alex nova used to be in onyx system. but then onyx system stopped. so they used an electric guitar, a roland rs-09, an arturia minibrute, a korg wavedrum, a vocoder, a nord lead, an alesis sr-16, and hooves to make a few more songs under their own names.

prog sense. paranormal science fiction vein. story telling. lovely creature afraid to die. stargate. a lover in her hair. afterlife. a man, a broom, the devils. the sound is: late night roxy sleaze, satellite machine cuisine robot synth croon and traces of meditative frippinalia.

AN MOKU

“the kodama remixes”

AN MOKU – the kodama remixes
a remix album that consists of 12 tracks based on only one (and such a fragile) song could easily fail conceptually. but not here! something very rare happens here instead: the remix artists augment the original mood and prevailing atmosphere of the basis track by adding new layers and aspects instead of varying the same loops and phrases again and again. they complement the fragments in their own, individual ways and supply additional elements, just like a painting evolves from a sketch or characters in a good tv show mature with every episode. twigs are snapped. branches are creaking and crack. leaves crinkle in the background and occasionally the tree ghosts are even dancing. and when they do, they do this in a their own quirky but nevertheless fascinating way.

instead of being a mere collection of variations as one might suggest, “the kodama remixes” is a surprising album which enriches the eponymous title track by one untold aspect after the other. at the same time this album is the documentation of an impressive creative process that sometimes is still present in today’s electronic music and results in such surprising and great releases every now and then.

Sōzu Project – Requiem
The idea of giving a soundtrack to a possible post-mortem world has always stimulated the imagination of many composers. Usually, this idea makes its way into the final part of our existence… There is no indication that tells us about the lenght of our life, so a Requiem could be the best debut. Starting from a body abandoned to the buzzing of the flies, imaging a journey of the soul through opened and bright spaces, in contrast to the dark and melancholic mortal condition.

Basciano

“Le 7 perle di Belzebù”

Basciano – Le 7 perle di Belzebù
The electroacoustic opera “Le 7 perle di Belzebù” by Fabrizio Basciano (Lamezia Terme, Italy) is divided into 7 movements preceded by a short overture for piano solo . The work is inspired from the book “I racconti di Belezebù a suo nipote” of the armenian philosopher and mystic George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff. About the work of Gurdjieff, Basciano selects 7 by more than 40 chapters and attempts to transpose a musical key philosophical and conceptual content of the same. The work is recorded at the studio Lante Records and is edited by the Associazione Culturale Lante Arte. With this work Basciano fully realized, for the first time, his musical ideal, a very well-balanced fusion between electronic nature and derivation of orchestral timbres. There are also a whole season the timbre of an ethnic nature, such as the sitar, lute, turkish, the native american flute and other instruments belonging to various cultures and music systems far. A long research for harmonic sense, with musical atmosphere as hot as ethereal, much sought after because, in fact, unique. Along with the search for harmony looming experiments on several other fronts, from the tone (which was mentioned above) to the rhythmic, from the linguistic to the inherent sound synthesis, the latter side on which the author of leads a long and painstaking. This opera was performed at Teatro Politeama di Lamezia Terme on June 3, 2013 and by request of the artist composer, now officially, released in Nostress Netlabel.
