Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. Talons’ – At Light/Dark

Talons’

“At Light/Dark”

One of the joys of parenting is watching your child learn how to speak. In the process of figuring out which words to use while building a vocabulary, kids come up with creative and poetic ways to verbalize their emotions and describe the world around them. My son started using the word “lightdark” to describe both dusk and dawn and we have adopted it into the family vocabulary over the past few years.

Talons’ at Light/Dark pays tribute to this in-between time. A time between awake and asleep but also a time of uncertainty, transition and change. The music, built out of ebow-ed guitar and synthesizer, is meant to reflect this tension between rest and anxiety, calm and worry, day and night.

Seagulls:

At Light/Dark, I don’t know where I am
Almost 40 and even more lost than I was at 20
And have I ever really said how I feel without overwhelming guilt?
Guilt rules everything

And everyone’s a mess
Broken, broke and hoping for a little bit of luck.
Seagulls circling the dump
But despite what we believe, there is nothing down there for us.

“ARZAK”

The Necrophile Hummingbird netlabel presents ARZAK by rADio eNd in free download here archive.org/details/rADio_eNd_ARZAK_Free_Download

“Abnormal Music for Abnormal People”

Since the very beginning when I coined the “hors-norme” (Outside of the Norm or Apart from Standard) as a style to define the music shared on this netlabel the main purpose was to make room for any musics rejected by the mainstream music. And this was not only a struggle against artistic conformism, but more about the society rejecting any differences by the reign of the Norm. If the society is rule by white old heterosexual you will get racialized people, women, lesbian gay trans queer, people with disabilities and young people, whatever, pushed into the margin.
This is a marginalization process. Same way that when scientists study nature they will not care of the singularity, example if the bonobos are not using patriarchal model they will avoid studying them and focus on other primates to get better proof to sustain their dominant ideology.
The first time we tried to bring the lights on this was in 2004 with the Tribute to Necktar archive.org/details/Tribute_to_Necktar We called this marginalization process “Deviance’s Genocide”. It could seem strong, but this is what it is, people sometime suicide not by choice but because of exclusion making it impossible for them to live. The society, or specifically, those who conform to the norm bullying them to the death, we wanted to say it’s a real genocide.
The normal people or indeed thinking to be normal, pushing the abnormal people to disappear, consciously or not. Same way, the mainstream pushing the underground out of sight.
So now we are in 2022 and there are reactions like Black Lives Matter, Metoo… but often doing like if it was only for certain categories of people, when it’s the rulers of the world against all the others.
When it’s the norm against any differences.
And that’s why I added Epaminondas speech to Spinalonga track, ( archive.org/details/l-ordre-1973-jean-daniel-pollet ) because the inhabitants of this leper colony after knowing what it is to be rejected by the whole society didn’t want to be back to the norm.
That’s what they learned, and I hope it could be an example for any rejected people instead to try to be included choice the sedition, the separatism, and build their own micro society, surely it won’t be perfect, but at human scale there are more chances to avoid exclusion and get more alternatives.
Thus, there are also tracks related to Moebius & Alejandro Jodorowsky Incal for the same reasons. For me in this comic “La Paterne” is more the pattern, alias the norm, and the same way that the energy of the dissident in the snowpiercer is used by the power to regenerate itself, the mainstream music grub everything coming from the underground, removing everything which is subversive inside, keeping only the shapes. Like the industry did for the organic food in the hexagone, when it was first at least half or more about build a local system free of intermediaries than to care about the food being not toxic.
And there is also a track about war, because to be aware that our differences are our salvation, goes to with the idea that no matter who is the other, only few are enough crazy to worship the nations and their rulers. Most are just only not strong enough to create choices when it seems impossible to get some.
Last but not least, the change of internet from a freedom tool to a self slavery tool. People mostly stuck in the social network bubbles except if it’s for buying something. It seems a lot of the remains of free culture may disappear at the same time the new norms are applied to control everything online with help of A.I. when needed. It reminds me imperialism colonization, after taking control of a land they eradicate the previous culture, under the fake excuse of few trolls, they hunt all the witches. For example, few weeks ago the Radio Free Albemut h o r s n o r m radioblog with only legal free download music on Tumblr (nearly 1000 releases) has been suspended without explanations and my main Tumblr Panoramagix too. Few months ago it was the Wild Worm Web YouTube channel erased with no warning despite without new publications for months. Only my personal examples.

Finally it’s only music, but these are the kind of dreams hidden behind that very instrumental album. Stay tuned, and please share your dreams and the other ones.

Dedicated to everyone who will be never define in a single word.

Baradit – Analog Songs

Baradit – Analog Songs
[pn212]

Baradit

“Analog Songs”

“Analog Songs” is an album composed by Felipe Baradit Stevenson, which is distinct in being his first album composed entirely with analog machines. With the creation of the musical instrument store “Midi in Store” directed by Alisú, Felipe began collaborating with synthesizer reviews, which in turn led to his taste for composition with analog hardware and processes. The world of visual and musical art, sexuality, cats, the illusion of a New Constitution that guaranteed multiple rights, the interconnection of analog machines via midi, the possible end of the pandemic, were all influences for the 7 works on this album.

For the graphics, Baradit invited the illustrator Paulina Gutiérrez Paravic to generate an artistic collaboration in Concón, wherein “PaliArt” displays all her talent and interprets the album in an illustration for the cover with her characteristic feminine and oceanic stamp, mixing this with references to the musical themes.

This album incorporates different analog equipment, such as the Argentine GS Music Apollo Mini synthesizer used to make bass lines, and the Korg Volca Keys and Volca Beats used in melodies and rhythms, respectively. The Korg Monologue was also used for basses and leads. Finally, the Korg Electribe EX1 tube sampler was used to reproduce sounds from the classic Roland TR 808 and 909, as well as analog synthesizers sampled from Arturia’s V Collection, such as the Jup 8 V3 or the Jun 6V. All these ingredients ultimately result in a warm, melodic, contemplative sound, yet with character, like a golden sunset by the sea.

“Mourning Music for Deceased People”

The 8th July 2022 Antho is gone in the night. I would like it to be something more magic, like in the OA series : a glide into the multiverse. The only thing I’m sure about is that I miss him so much. And I’m not the only one. The weight of this loss is hard to measure, thru the years it’s one of the very rare friend I had never lost. Without him, perhaps since 1995 I would be stuck in a psychiatric hospital, never coming to the surface behind my chemical straightjacket. I’ve done my first step as bass player at this time, but I had turned the amp nearly to zero because I didn’t know how to play. Many years later I still don’t know, but I can, so we tried in 2014 to play together in another band, disbanded before to release anything. He was not hiding that he was not understanding my experimental sound, mostly outsider music. Despite we were both found of Tuxedomoon, Dead Can Dance, Bauhaus, the Young Gods, Virgin Prunes, Christian Death and of course Killing Joke we were not playing the same kind of music. But we were respectful, like brothers do, to each one’s differences. So perhaps he would not enjoy that much this virtual record, but would understand the intention to say goodbye to him by this way. I asked to Studio 112 who knew him before I do to help me on several tracks. This is our memorial to him.

You can listen his old music here

And his last compositions and his Killing Joke Covers here

I also released an album with remixes of some of his drum’n’bass tracks, because few months ago he talked with me about to create the music for an Aleister Crowley’s Poem and I wanted to do another door linked more to his music, it’s in free download here
www.archive.org/details/parrhesia_sound_system_vs_ethnomite_pux_another_beast-feast

Finally, I may add I think it’s a blessing to leave such a sick society, death is not for me something to mourn about. At the scale of this world where everyday so many people sink in the sea, die by war or human handmade cataclysms all mostly because of the rich greedy people, it’s only one amongst all the everyday atrocious deaths. But he was a very special friend to me. The only one who’ve been able to write me as birthday gift a portrait poem so accurate that it caught my real spirit.

Dedicated to all the wild boys who can’t escape from pain.

Maquinistas – Black E.T.

Maquinistas – Black E.T.
[pn211]

Maquinistas

“Black E.T.”

“Black E.T.” is a sonic homage to the 1984 American sci-fi film “The Brother From Another Planet”, directed by John Sayles and now a cult classic.

Maquinistas have condensed and contemporised the original score and incorporated dialogue from key scenes. The album, comprised of 12 short tracks, some less than a minute long, retains the feeling of a sound track and is best listened to in its entirety. The music reflects the solidarity and empathy shown towards the film’s subject, the Alien Brother who has found himself dislocated in Harlem. At the same time, there is a focussed militancy. Prolific producers Cinturón Negro and Polar are the masters of sampling and editing with an uncanny ability to loop ambient and atmospheric sound to expose its musicality. They fearlessly push the outer limits of instrumental Hip Hop towards a fresh interpretation of “music concrète”. This is best demonstrated when the space-warped abstraction of “Language Code” gives way to the rhythmic weight of “Sex Between Interspecies”. The steel pan motif heard here, lifted from the film’s original theme, is shared with the monster dub groove of the opening track “The Arrival”. The twisted, off-grid syncopation of “Everybody Needs Tools” reiterates Maquinistas Hip Hop credentials. This is a compact and compelling release for lovers of leftfield rhythm and sound and its ability to illustrate narratives.

Hermanokiltro

“Limitaciones & Retazos”

Almost two years after their first release (HK. Orion, 2020), including their early works (2012-2015), “Limitaciones & Retazos” (Limitations & Pieces) is Máximo Campos Flores and Felipe Reyes Flores, second album, produced during the long Covid-19 pandemic quarantines and those days’ limitations, where getting together and making machines work was a therapeutic parenthesis in uncertain and catastrophic times.

Thus, pieces from intermittent improvisation sessions were put together, searching for landscapes, rhythms and melodies, part of the duo’s musical DNA, ranging from electronic cumbia to house, hip-hop to ambient, considering the whole variety of registers and sonic inquiries in their debut release.

“Limitaciones & Retazos” confirms this duo unprejudiced sonic curiosity and stylistic breadth, stretching their own limits, self-assured that musical experience is a permanent learning realm.

Various Artist

“Another Beast Feast”

The Necrophile Hummingbird netlabel presents Another Beast Feast by PARRHESIA Sound System VS Ethnomite Pux.
“Magick Music for Magick People”.

When I received the tracks of Ethnomite Pux I was juggling with the development of several albums, so that it was uneasy to think about a collaboration, but one of them is a kinda tribute to one of my best friend left too young in July involving rADio eNd, PIRATE Tapes, Invisible Illusion, A Symbiotic Experience and Yoshiwaku. But there is no music of this friend inside so I thought about to remix his drum ‘n bass tracks for this split album. Also he wanted we do an adaptation song of one Aleister poem, perhaps the hermit, so despite I find it really cliché now, I already did some with Gestalt OrchestrA years ago www.archive.org/details/ZvezdaMix and I’m not that much in this energy. I choose to add few of his recordings I had not use at this time.
Next I had a listen of the tracks at their original speed. And I find it really cool to keep them as they catch really my buddy sound perhaps more than his own tracks. Also it’s forming a slow ascension to the tempo of the Ethnomite Pux tracks and I enjoy the idea to show how PARRHESIA Sound System is built by slowing down electronic music, same way to give in the titles the ratio keys I often use. Because one day too I will no more be here and it would be such a joy younger generation continue to explore these ways to create music. Except the 4th Ethnomite Pux track made with a loop I nearly only added the sound of a frantic play done with my mini kaossilator.

Another Beast Feast complete very well the tribute “A loss hard to measure” which will be release the 30th september, and includes poems by W.B Yeats.

There is a full album by Ethnomite Pux including these tracks soon release here ratasordarec.bandcamp.com

Fono Mental – Fabulas

Fono Mental – Fabulas
[pn209]

Fono Mental

“Fabulas”

“Fono Mental” (Mental Phone) was born with the idea of making use of the metallophone, an instrument with a school-like character, to generate experimental and decidedly ambient sound pieces. With this chromatic instrument as a starting point, Jorge Cabieses-Valdes and Marcelo Peña (Miopec) realized two sessions of improvisation and experimentation during the year 2020 in a small and isolated town in the fourth region of Chile, on the outskirts of the city of Ovalle.

The recorded material was then edited and mixed in order to generate a piece that can be heard specifically in outdoor spaces, finally becoming in this version an album entitled “Fábulas”. Musically, the result allows other environmental sounds to integrate with the listening experience and mix themselves in aleatoric fashion to generate a new composition each time it is heard.
