about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

bleed Air – s/t

bleed Air – s/t
[SPT002]

bleed Air

“s/t”

This is a mix tape (on cassette and digital) blending dark ambient, playful electronica as well as experimental beat and drone.

A journey into warm, analogue noise, echo and soundscapes, sometimes perhaps resembling a soundtrack for a yet unfilmed low budget sci-fi movie.

When Robot choirs start singing or (broken) analogue circuits and filters start doing what they want, it can get wacky, but we think it always remains pleasant to listen.

Mostly analogue electronic gear, often of the cheaper and not exactly hip kind, and tape effects were used.

It is recommended to listen to each side of the album in one piece. The single Digital release tracks are not mixed, but musically cut – and we’ve added the side A and B mixed files too. Sounds cooler on the nicely saturated ferro tape though.

bleed Air lives in Cologne, loves his Omnichord OM-27 and his tape echo too.

Dos Kanye – Contraa

Dos Kanye – Contraa
[TTR069]

Dos Kanye

“Contraa”

“Contraa” is The first EP of the rhythm fanatics “Dos Kanye”.
The EP is a welcome call to their edgy colorful dimension of heavy percussion beats, unleashed analog sound and repetitive playful samples. In the ep they are hosting talented musicians from their community such as: “Shaman Shaman” with his gibberish vocals on the track “Contraa”, Aviv Bachar playing the ancient Beduin instrument called Sumsumia in the track “Cubia” and Oren Ben David going wild on Analog Synths in the track “Kibutz Jungle”.

Beside the original mixes, we are proud to present to you 4 remixes that bring a whole new perspective of the tracks and making the experience even more delicious. Allow yourself to dive into the chaotic universe of “Dos Kanye” and we can promise you a wild galactic dance by the fire.

Dos Kanye believe in liberation of rhythms and wild flow of sounds,
Same as the jungle,
Same as the desert-
The brand new duo of Nadav Dagon and Ben Landesman creates massive-organic patterns that contain sounds from the tribes of the past and from the ones that weren’t yet born.
They believe in long bass,
They believe in vibration,
They believe in revolution.

Codes&Notes – Aftermath

Codes&Notes – Aftermath

Codes&Notes

“Aftermath”

This track has a story.

Initially, it was about managing to make a decent track out of a melody that had been playing in my head for… about 10 years. The first attempts were put together years ago using LMMS. They were not good at all: LMMS is great for certain things, but not as great for others. Then this year, when I rebuilt a decent studio setup and went back to Reaper, I gave another go at it and… oh joy! It started to sound decent.

So far I had a house-ish track with a vibe similar to those romantic french movies from the 70s and 80s. Those who grew up watching “La Boum” and such will know what I mean.
But then I stumbled upon a movie on archive.org called “My Man Godfrey”, a delightful romantic comedy from 1936 starring Carole Lombart and William Powell. The movie being Public Domain I thought it would be okay to sample dialogs from it and rearrange them to tell a slightly different story. I added them to the track and… a miracle! It sounded fantastic! I was in heaven!

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I decided to be 100% sure and checked whether it was actually legal to sample a movie in the Public Domain and… I got serious doubts. From what I understand, the movie could still be copyrighted in other countries, or its soundtrack (or its written dialogs) might still be protected. The joys of the current copyright mess… The only way to be sure would be to ask a lawyer to check whether the sampling is legit as far as his knowledge goes.
Right.
This is exactly why I believe copyright has it sooo wrong.

So I decided not to take the risk. I do find the whole thing ridiculous, but I don’t want to create any sort of trouble to the kind hosters of my tunes so I did a version without the dialogs. This is why this release has only one single track: a “romantic”, instrumental house tune. A bit of a shame if you ask me, but better than nothing!

The good news is: the track is under CreativeCommons BY-SA 4.0, which is as permissive as it gets while respecting intellectual property. So share it, mix it, spread it as you wish. Just leave my name next to it ;-)

Sounds of Silence; Richard Bentley; François Dumeaux

“3pr(iii)8ses”

1- Sounds of Silence “Friendly Storm”
How to make a recording so that the whole body can hear it, a soundscape that passes its secrets from one body to another? Friendly Storm opens with a machine breath, passing voices, a river trek. Hydrophone instants and domestic reveries. The ghost dogs bark all night, while the storms blow in news from the North African coast sending passenger pigeons scurrying across the roof. Missives from the global village. Sealed with a stretched kiss of male harmony, offering a slower sound of silence. Recorded in Toronto (Canada) and Bocale (Italy) in 2019-2020.

2- Richard Bentley “Hedgehog Shelter”
The discovery of a hedgehog tormented by lungworm, wheezing, snorting and struggling for air, prompted a visit to the local rescue centre. The outing afforded me an opportunity to get close to the animals and their crunching, rustling and huffing. The recordings were made in August 2017 with assemblage by François-Emmanuel Fodéré in 2020. anoisysilence.com

[pnmxt002]

Oss

“Ola de Cristal Mixtape”

That imagery of flags fluttering in the wind as a sign of resistance and fight, takes real strength when you remain. The slogan is beautiful for an experimental and underground music label in Chile, but when it is done by publishing more than 160 titles from all over the world and during 15 years without interruption, I take a breath and shout: bravo!

A collage made with fragments taken from PN100 onwards to which are added recurring waves of masters Asuar, Becerra-Schmidt and Schumacher. A unique live take trying to represent the diverse and mixed ethos, but essentially the free spirit of this Pueblo Nuevo.

This no longer stops. Soon the silver wave and, afterwards, the golden wave.

Die Leere im Kern deiner Hoffnung – Es ist schwer ein Gott zu sein
[Wuerfel28]

Die Leere im Kern deiner Hoffnung

“Es ist schwer ein Gott zu sein”

The title of the album refers of course to the novel by the Strugatzki brothers. But it is also the expression of the desperate realisation that the world is probably unsavable. The problems are obvious, everybody knows everything, but nobody is willing to do anything.

We oscillate faster and faster between hysteria and agony, blind actionism and panic. And again and again we get fast and easy answers to complex questions with the certainty of a placebo.

Clicktivism as a digital balm for the poor afflicted souls. The mistaken belief that you can save the world through your consumerism.

We dream of electric sheep.
Technomagic thinking.
The illusion of freedom.
Welcome to the age of transfiguration.

We rather bear those ills we have than fight them.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.

“THE NOUP GORGE REMIXES”

Fm Outt

“Incomplete Kisses”

Fm Outt is a romantic and a futuristic alter ego with a focus on the beautiful and the good of sadness.
This is music without reference to genre orientation, a rhythm cataloged or its complete absence.

Fm Outt try to write music from images, music for storytelling, music to reflect a calm environment.
He is inspired by his family. Watching his wife walk around the room, his daughter does her homework quietly and his son plays-I he makes compositions based on those feelings and moments, that is his inspiration.

He is inspired by the silence or lack of it.
He learned one simple thing from some people:
Everything is Sound…
Music is all around us the music is allways within us…

“Access Frame: Equity”

Kamizdat is proud to present a 2020 Netlabel Day release.

Access Frame: Equity is a compilation of 20 local electronic artists with many original works that span a wide spectrum of electronic music genres: from noise and sonic art, via bass, breaks, all the way to acid techno. The concept of the compilation is to bring attention to the conflict between necessity of free culture and enclosure of culture by copyright law. The conflict which is temporarily solved by Creative Commons licences.

Access Frame is a series of compilations of adventurous music published by Kamizdat under a Creative Commons licence on 14. July – International Netlabel Day. It tries to establish a practice of thinking critically about access to, and distribution of, art. It poses a question: what is the frame through which we are allowed, and able, to access culture? How is it created, by whom, and can such frame of access be modified and transgressed?

Review:

SMOK – Brain Damage

Who is behind this curious musical project called SMOK? It is a question I made to myself a couple of years ago after listening to a collab between Andrés and Nicolás (a.k.a Slang). Time has passed and I have discovered that this curiousity comes from Andrés, who is music studious and part of the new generation of producers from Quinta Región. Brain Damage is the result of his curiosity. Accelerated beats, bass drums, violent boxes and acid basses; a sharp chaos which is tidied up within mysterious and obscure melodies. An album that brings me back to the 90’s and spotting strong influences of the electro, such as Underground Resistance, Drexciya, Aux88, or Radioactive Man, among others. Nineties reminiscence that mixes technological advance and that succeeds in locating us nowadays, thus giving life to an album which treasures the origins of the electro-techno, but at the same time adapts perfectly to the present.

SMOK – Brain Damage
