about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Johann Mazé & Jihem Rita – Autre Brousse

Johann Mazé & Jihem Rita – Autre Brousse
[D!HR-48]

Johann Mazé & Jihem Rita

“Autre Brousse”

For its 48th release, Da ! Heard It Records takes a leak into the unknown.

On the sleeve picture, conceptualized by Pia-Mélissa Laroche, Johann Mazé chooses the bag race to cross what seems to be a rural garden. In simple terms, he thus shows the listener the step to follow: one must jump with feet together in this eccentric universe with blurry borders, as if out of some dream, at the very place where a sleepy memory weaves strange links among things.
Here, enigmatic voices escape a house without walls into which one enters through the roof; improbable ritualistic rhythms form alternately the outlet of an imaginary tribe or a parade of a cannibalistic Yellow Jackets’ batucada; elsewhere, a wobbly walz lulls the ear with soft dissonances; farther still, a piano turns off in the night, a harmonica rises, a metronome sets the tone of a charade of diverse and catchy percussions…
Like an exquisite cadaver on a piece of paper that we unfold little by little, each new piece of the puzzle opens the door onto an unexpected territory. Passing from one thumbnail to the next though, the atmospheres answer each other with a clever sonorous montage, a patchwork of field recordings, of sonorous poetry… more

“Pink Dream”

a soothing translucent ambience

Pink Dream is the third album released by Portland based ambient producer Elijah Knutsen under his new-age imprint Memory Color. The album is an exploration into the ambient side of cemented genres such as Shoegaze and Dream-Pop. Inspired by artists and groups like Harold Budd, My Bloody Valentine, and Cocteau Twins, Pink Dream consists of four translucent soundscapes, washed in reverb and tremolo-like modulation, and melded with subtle field recordings.

Mathieu St-Pierre

“Online Messages in Cardboard Boxes”

Following the steps of his debut album “These Elephants”, Mathieu St-Pierre re-engages with the concept of cyberspace as a means to explore his ambient and drone compositional approaches via the pool of data that is the internet.

As a result, his second album and Mahorka debut “Online Messages in Cardboard Boxes” was constructed solely by scavenging the net for sound textures and later altering and arranging them to create unique soundscapes. So as much as there was lots of time spent designing the compositions, an at least equal amount of time was involved in the research phase. “Online Messages in Cardboard Boxes” is a voyage beyond the keyboard, the monitor and the WWW, it takes us on a trip from the busy streets of a virtual metropolis to the melted ruins of a broken e-map. Each track was conceived as a gateway to the cloud of our mind.

Various Artists – united:chernobyl.memories

Various Artists

“united:chernobyl.memories”

The failure at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is one of the most dramatic and tragic pages of the 20th century. This catastrophe is a symbol of the destructiveness of human delusions and the arrogant selfish worldview. Man allowed himself to think that he made nature work for himself, but nature has shown its true indomitable character. This incident also showed the depravity of the socialist authorities, which for a long time tried to hide the real scale of the disaster and the threat of radioactive contamination. This last drop became fatal for the majestic colossus on the clay feet called the USSR, which rapidly began to fall apart before everyone’s eyes. The whole world has learned a difficult lesson, which further led to a slowdown in the construction of new nuclear power plants and forced many developing countries to opt for environmental green technologies. From a social point of view, humanity has begun to rely more on international institutions that carefully monitor the situation around the world to try to avoid similar events. But as we know, this has already been repeated again… However, we should not despair, but it’s worth any experience, first of all negative, to adopt into service. This is the hard way on the stairs of progress.

Di Bos

“Smailin Ca(r)Ma”

At first the name of this album was Planet B.
These ten short tracks were recorded during the first lockdown and I was imagining music for an alternate planet.
Day after day, however, I realized that this music was born spontaneously to react to the suffering of a separation, my separation.
This music is also perfect for doing daily meditative postural gymnastics exercises. Each track corresponds to an exercise, for a total of ten exercises and twenty minutes of reflection and meditation.

Luís Antero

“Som.Terra.Água/Sound.Earth.Water”

After a few years of absence, Luís Antero returns to MiMi Records with another field recording record. “Sound. Earth. Water.” is the main theme that served as the soundtrack for the film made in 2020.

Quoting Carlos Alberto Augusto: “Life, the sounds of life, mark the soundscape. As long as there is life, there is sound.”

A 15 minutes track where we connect to Earth through field recordings by Luís Antero and the mastery with which he manipulates the sounds of Nature.

This is the sound of the Earth that we step on, that we feel, that we live, that we long for … This is the primordial element of the landscape, the sound. And the sound is life.

DR – Matrjoschka

DR

“Matrjoschka”

DR (Dominic Razlaff) is a sound artist from Germany. He uses synthesizers, acoustic instruments (Ukulele, Cavaquinho, Guitar), field recordings, tape loops and granular synthesis to create soaked in melancholy ambient / drone soundscapes.

A bit after debuting on Mahorka with his highly acclaimed collaboration album with Blanket Swimming (“The Lightning Gallery”) he found an old sketch, unfinished Ukulele piece, which was a little bit boring recording, but had something special to it. Out of it he made some tape loops (with a Fostex x-15) to see what can come out and really liked the results. From these tape loops the three “Matrjoschka” compositions were finished. The release title comes from the “matrjoschkas” that have been around him in his living room, the only decoration that links to his ancestry from his father’s side, born and growing up in east Europe and central Asia.
