about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Telegraphy – 0 dbm
Experimentations in sounds of shortwave. 0 dBm is a concept E.P. from Detroit producer Telegraphy (Richard Sudney). The concept being, combining in real time, audio of shortwave signals from which a vintage vacuum tube communications receiver is used as a back drop for Telegraphy’s minimal dub’ed sound-scapes. This receiver, with it’s etheric property’s not found in today’s solid state electronics, captures outer worldly tonalities and energies. Each track was recorded live directly to a audio capture device with no post production work done. This is to ensure minimal damage to any etherics that were recorded from the howl state vacuum tube radio.

MUTATE – No one in the mirror
Inspired by a comment President Nixon made to his psych, this ep
explores inbetween states – people and places in flux, whether
momentarily, or for lifetimes. This idea extends to some of the
source material used and the process of making this ep, which
I thought may never see the light of day. States change.

Subterrestrial – A Puzzling Enigma
Summer is coming to an end and so is Subterrestrial’s Summer of Chill. We started things off on an ambient note so I’d like to end on an ambient note as well. A Puzzling Enigma is an 8-bit ambient EP, a soundtrack to a video game that never was, if you will. But while Summer of Chill is coming to an end, A Puzzling Enigma also marks the beginning of a special 8-bit themed month. Look for a single in a couple of weeks and another EP at the end of the month.

Etched Traumas is more than happy to release ‘Le rêve d’Endymion’ work by french duo Ten Thirty. Ten Thirty is a duo project born in 2008 and located in France.
Inspired by 20th-century classical composers and by ritual chants, Ten Thirty improvise during live sessions dreamlike soundscapes with industrial sounds, field recordings, samples and synthesizers. Most of these paradoxical and enigmatic ballades are regarded as an “acoustic-mental cinema”.

Tarmac – Live at Switch Bar
The fifth release of adeptlabel collects an hour and a bit of music that could be heard there. Here you will find the typical sound of Tarmac, but even more soaked in reverb, more noisy and more rhythmic. You could hear some exclusive tracks like Mid Summer or Nador 5, and other cuts included in the adeptlabel EPs: Old Path, 9, SBSTC… A total amount of 11 cuts “re- aconditioned” and re-arranged to sound in a live situation in a different way as studio recordings do. In short, to offer the audience a new vision of the Tarmac´s music.

Darwin Raymond – Beyond The Shore, The Sea
Darwin Raymond is primarily a guitar based musician currently residing in Columbus, Ohio.He has also released an EP on Audio Gourmet (Rien/Rain) and an album on FeedbackLoop (Night).

His new release on Resting Bell is called “Beyond The Shore, The Sea” and it is a wonderful album focusing on the ocean. Nine tracks with a complete duration of about 40 minutes. Darwin has focused on the overlap and interplay of memory with the present, which he explores by recording a base guitar track and immediately overdubbing it with additional tracks in order to pursue the feelings evoked by those few moments as they are occurring.

With his work he captured a depth and beauty which you can find again imaging the ocean, a windy shore and the power of waves and tides. Please enjoy!

“Roadside Sketches”

Art Sonic – Roadside Sketches
A 3-week long road trip to the American Southwest (Toronto, Canada to Colorado, Utah and New Mexico USA). Good thing I managed to take my old beat-up acoustic guitar – even though there was little spaced for it in our tightly packed truck. Big prairie skies, Rocky Mountain panoramas, desert vistas, ghost towns and ancient Anasazi ruins, all inspired me to pick up the guitar and attempt to translate sights into notes. Little ‘roadside sketches’… My trusty little field recorder allowed me to actually capture some of the nature sounds which later, back home in my studio, got incorporated into some of the tracks. Hopefully these short musical pieces will evoke the feelings and re-create the sights I had in front of me.

(this album is a joint release with the No-source netlabel)

Now the project works on developing various methods of influence on listener such as causing visual images by sound means.

Paolino Canzoneri – Ende
“Brain-Hyperspace” (suite which is the center of the entire work), since the title suggests unexplored places, such as extremely distant in space-time coordinates. Slightly dark ambient atmospheres formed by the massive use of synths alternate with more relaxed parts and sometimes rare soft rhythmic so it’s not a casuality if this suite has been in patnership and associated with a visual performance, visual completion strengthening the impact live. Two uniquely different performance for the musical “suite” Brain-Hyperspace with precious and friendly contribution of Antonio Cusimano, 3112htm in art, as visual artist. First performance at ZetaLab in Palermo March 17, 2011 during the celebrations for ten years of laboratory activities. On March 18, 2011, the second performance at the “PPS//Meetings#7”, a series of events and art exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Riso (Palazzo Riso) in Palermo.

A VKRS Netlabel Release : Rotorro Yscape The Diaries of Christina Mancini

Behind the Concept

“I have and always will be a dreamer which is maybe why every once in a while I wake up after a remarkable one and I actually remember it. The dream that inspired this piece occurred in the waking hours of 30th July 2012 and made me realise it was a story I’d been writing, through my more downtempo tracks, for many months. So it was just a case of picking up the pieces, putting them together in the right order and filling in a few missing gaps (as well as putting it into a context, verbally).
Dreams don’t have to make sense but sometimes they’re so real they nearly do…this was one of those dreams (with a few temporal anomalies to gloss over).
The album, conceptually telling Christina Mancini’s story and hence the essence of the dream, is available as separate tracks or as a mixed version for free download.”

Ivan Black – Genuit Machina EP
A machine is a tool consisting of one or more parts that is constructed to achieve a particular goal. Machines are powered devices, usually mechanically, chemically, thermally or electrically powered, and are frequently motorized. Historically, a device required moving parts to classify as a machine; however, the advent of electronics technology has led to the development of devices without moving parts that are considered machines. This work explores the making of machines musically, using their sounds to create feeling, ambience and rhythm. A series of electronic parts to flow and move like a created, imagined machine.

Music is inspired by the desire of a new time, another possible world, many better worlds. Focused on making spontaneous textures of sound and strong doses of improvisation Nulix completes perfectly this circle with his unique treatment of resonant waves of energy.

//Release Date
August 2012

Deus est Lux I is the first track of what should become, God willing, a series of tracks, perhaps similar to the peacemaker series. Deus est Lux I is a peaceful journey through a sonic soundscape, filled with calm rivers of changing harmonies. This track is a result of an eager desire to create sounds that journey to the edge of unchanging, peaceful solitude.

Thuuooom – remix, repeat
‘remix, repeat’ is an ep where original rock songs have been transformed into unrecognisable ambient/noise drones. These remixes come from the same sessions that gave birth to Thuuooom’s second full-length, ‘Uinua’, and continue his ambient explorations into deep aural space. This record closes the fourth creative cycle of Thuoom, the so-called spring cycle, which also gave birth to above mentioned ‘Uinua’ as well as ‘re:EP’.

“Serendipity Effects”

We are proud to host the first online release by Regina Burbach, a german sound artist based in Bremen. Burbach presents a two-track album full of field recordings and foley materials. Both pieces presented can be heard as a soundscape collage from different locations, sites and places. The two compositions are a very good example of the way Burbach understands as soundscape composition and its usage as musical material.

Bengalfuel – Neely
Welcome back, Bengalfuel. Lou DiBenedetto & Joe LiTrenta began making music together around the end of 2009 and have released music on various labels such as Hibernate Recordings, Rural Colours, Lizard Breakfast and Twice Removed.

After their contribution to the RB100-series with “Kokolias” Bengalfuel are doing their next release on Resting Bell. “Neely” is meant to be a continuation of “Kokolias”. Taking the general feeling and transferring it to a deeper and sometimes darker level. That doesn’t mean that you get a dark ambient album. All pieces have their typically wonderful, atmospheric and melodic quality. But in some tracks you can find a darker mood, more chaotic elements or some unexpected turns.

“Neely” is a great album for these warm summer days (here in Germany). And you can compare it to the actual summer weather here. It is mostly warm and mild, but sometimes you can get heavy thunderstorms. Please enjoy and thanks a lot Lou & Joe.
