about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Chris Silver T & Anna Stereopoulou

“Spirits”

«Spirits» came to life after Chris Silver T invited Anna Stereopoulou to a collaboration project on the same titled track of the album. Chris’s field recording on the specific composition took place during one of his visits to his hometown; a morning walk to the village, through stone pathways and towards a peaceful area, where spirits can be heard in the air.

Juan Antonio Nieto – Static

Juan Antonio Nieto

“Static”

Juan Antonio Nieto | Static
“Static” is a short album of abstract concrete music. The main idea was to use “field recordings” from restaurants and coffee shops, mostly the sounds of plates, spoons, knifes etc., as well as sounds recorded while the artist himself was having breakfast. He also uses sets of found sounds, from objects at home. He mixes the different timbres with minimal electronics, trying to give the result a natural feel. For this album he chose 6 tracks out of 12 – the ones that worked better with the concept. The dark drones were composed especially for each theme and then added to the percussive sounds, conveying an abstract, ambient and dreamlike sense.

She works on art: knowledge, find meanings, researching, expression and listen through it.
Also, she experiments with possibilities and plays with perspectives,
to make prominent different shapes. In short, show a new version.

Wings of an Angel – Excluded From The Ark

Self-Release

Wings of an Angel

“Excluded From The Ark”

This is a musical narrative about one peculiarly untamed outsider who remains unseen throughout his life, even though he himself strives to see all and everything, and thus excluded from the ark of humanity. This is also a story of human corruption, greed and uncontrolled urges – as seen and experienced firsthand by one John Doe who knows not how to fit into this boiling soup of basic human impulses. This is a top-notch moral and psychological dilemma: whether to be part of the human herd or not? Whether to go with the flow into the ark or to stay outside of it, paying the oft heavy price of ostracism? Not an easy choice… Certainly not.
Within the deep caves of our hearts, lies the horrible CONFORMIST ATTACHMENT ARTERY; attachment to who we think/feel we are, to our intrinsic nature as we and others perceive it, and to other objects (real and/or imaginary). This stops the blood flow of our untamed and wild essence. Thus, we become like lost sheep in the pasture, trying to compensate for this catastrophic gap our whole lives, by seeking void-like attachments – to supernatural forces such as Gods and their supposedly holier-than-thou “saints” who can temporary calm down our maniacal craving for breaking apart and self-destruction, to people who might make us feel less-lost-less-lonely-and-less-ostracized, to symbols and rituals which “allow and promote” artificial order in chaos, where there is none whatsoever etc’.
Such is the ark of humanity. And there’s a certain magic realism to this existential game of emotional shadows. But it also has a price, a heavy price at that, and you know what that price is… ‘Tis demanding fee… Is… Y.O.U… That is, giving up on YOUR very raw essence, in the pursuit of a comfortable place in the ark. Which means and suggests a constant battle for survival and infinite make-believe psychodramatic performances.
A moment of wishful thinking, on the other hand… Wouldn’t it be better to be excluded from this ramshackle ark, even if it means living a ghostly existence on the subterranean margins of the human microcosm?
Ponder these dilemmas whilst listening to this odyssey and I promise you this: THE DEFINITE ANSWER WILL MATERIALIZE IN FRONT OF YOUR HALF-CLOSED EYES…

“From Ritual to Romance”

Et Quid Amabo Nisi Quod Aenigma Est?

Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, a blog founded on January 15 2009, and whose sixth anniversary is commemorated with this release, was envisioned as a space for the nurturing of a “savage thought” (that is, of an undisciplined nature). In its essence, and as an individual project, it aims mostly to be a vehicle for its author’s vast-reaching interests, while at the same time harnessing them into some form of discipline. More than just a reflection on the fascination caused by the themes implicit to its lexical field of action, as shown by the coordinates and key concepts that define the boundaries of its territory, i.e. “Occultism” / “Esotericism”, this virtual space mainly maps some of the topologies enclosed in the History of Ideas. A vast and sometimes ignored area of Knowledge, whose apparently paradoxical character drives a magnetic pull towards the need to identify its true nature, as ubiquitously manifested along various historical cycles, in an unending drama staged in the theatre of the Anima Mundi. This is, in fact, the true raison d’être of Die Elektrischen Vorspiele.
As a direct result of its existence, November 2010 saw the publication of the book “Summa Techno(i)logicae”. This work, as implied by its title, is a thoroughly compiled and systematised patchwork reflecting the interests that guide its author’s research. From then on, periodic collaborations with other projects ensued, such as the magazines Finis Mundi, Infernus and Antibothis.
Still under the aegis of Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, and always through the establishment of complicities and connections, a number of events were created and carried out in the past six years. This set of actions (with Music as a constant common denominator) has had as its main goal the evocation of the life and work of various figures that have left behind crucial legacies. The people celebrated include the musician John Balance (Coil); the historian of religions Mircea Eliade; the poet and theatre director Antonin Artaud; the philosopher Georges Bataille; and the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. It is also worth mentioning the series of events spanning along the year 2013, Occult Esoterica AV Gatherings, curated in collaboration with intermedia artist Ana Carvalho.
The proposal made to EdP – Editora do Porto (in the person of its administrator, João Ricardo) for the release of this compilation emerges as a consequence of shared common cosmologies which have gradually been transmuted into friendship, and also of João Ricardo’s encyclopaedic musical knowledge, while the invitations made to the artists taking part in it are the logical result of a chaining together of elective affinities (a process permanently taking place since the first Homeric dawn).

VA – The Light Side Of The Blue

[SCL-TM004]

VA

“The Light Side Of The Blue”

“The Light Side Of The Blue” is a sequel to “Wordless” compiliation, which is the result of the creative colaboration between Southern City‘s Lab Label and producer Hank Hobson in search of talented electronic stage musicians. However, contrasting the previous work executed in gloomily vast tones of ambient and glitch, the compilation offers a wide range of styles from jungle and jazzstep to Berlin school. The sequence of tracks is developed in a way that turns it into a novel, written with sounds and tunes. Into a fantastic story where the main character, finding it no more possible to bear his daily routine and seeking seclusion, runs away towards the sea…to another planet.

It all starts with the surrealistic absurd of Mutafory Lili telling with their both comic and psychodelic track about the daily life of our protagonist, where if you listen closely you can realise that he is about to break down. Then the action is transferred to the cosmoport, where Pk jazz Collective, toying with the new wave, is singing a song of mourn and sorrow, maybe even of the lost love. Lost radiance are painting admirable soundscapes, showing all the beauty of the deep space. Finally the duo of Sexyalien & Hank Hobson ($IMDC) is depicting some difficulties during the flight of the spaceship.

After that we are setting off for an automobile ride consisting of three chapters: crazy races across the megapolis by Hobotek, a ride along the highway in tune with jazz by Sobrio and the last few kilometers along the rough coast by Eva Shlegel.

And here comes the seclusion, where being alone with the self, nature and darkish atmosphere, perfectly rendered by SandSpace & lost-radio, D-lity & Amaranth will tell a story about the long-desired evening at the seaside.

Ethernet Orchestra – Diaspora

pn094

Ethernet Orchestra

“Diaspora”

“Diaspora” is the debut album from the Ethernet Orchestra, an Internet based music ensemble exploring intercultural tele-improvisation. It is a compilation of live freely improvised vignettes from performances recorded between 2009-2014. It features musicians from a diverse range of cultures and musical traditions performing simultaneously between Iran and Australia via North America, Canada, Brazil and Europe. Distance is embodied in the material quality of the works, which not only serves as testament to the technological achievement of such a project but also forms part of the grain of the medium itself.

During this period we also had the great fortune to collaborate with the late Richard Lainhart, who is featured on many of the recordings. Ethernet Orchestra would like to dedicate this album to Richard, whose passion and generosity touched us all and his music continues his presence in our lives.

The album also contains works from the “Distant Presences” trilogy of performances. These events included networked VJs Helen Varley Jamieson, Neil Jenkins, Graziano Milano and Michael Szpakowski mixing live cinematic visual collages in the audiovisual platform VisitorsStudio, which can be viewed from diasporasound.wordpress.com/vjmixes

Wings of an Angel – The Empty Bible Of The Psychonaughty Psychonaught

Self-Releae

Wings of an Angel

“The Empty Bible Of The Psychonaughty Psychonaught”

– This is a poem for the ambient musician “Wings of an Angel” –
Diving into the depths of the cold black sea,
the submerged depths of human psyche,
the psychonaut fearlessly plumbs the depths,
seeking the entire breadth and depth of human experience.
He seeks to face the darkness to bring out the light,
to float fearlessly into the inky night of his own soul,
to let the light shine through,
illuminating the vagaries of human expression,
as with ambient waves of musical majesty,
he sends forth a mystic echo location to find the divinity within.
This brave psychonaut,
he faces those possibilities,
knowing of the possibility that when one plunges into the depths,
they may never return,
but he knows he that he will,
if not because he feels the urgency to illuminate The World with obsidian ambient light,
spreading that light forth like the wings of an angel about to take flight.
Let us thank the psychonaut for doing what most of us dare not do,
for most are too frightened to plunge those icy depths for fear of spiritual death,
alas,
I feel as if I am a psychonaut too;
and I feel thankful for that,
for there are those that must plunge into the depths of the darkness
…to remind us that we are the light.

“Eight Dreams”

Marc has been in the business for a while, being a member of the recording and touring band Beautiful 2000 but since the breakup of that band, he’s been writing and recording his own material.
This extended EP of eight songs was recorded after a long visit to Kobe, Japan in 2004. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams, ‘Eight Dreams’ was recorded, played, written, mixed, mastered and produced by Marc Stapleford. It has a delightful mixture of laid-back acoustic and electronic-flavoured textures, with the odd turntable and field recording thrown in.
“Eight dreams dreamt in one night. From young to old. This record is in celebration of human spirit and imagination. Long live us.”

Wings of an Angel – In My Darkest Dreams (night diary of a poète maudit in earthly exile)

Wings of an Angel – In My Darkest Dreams (night diary of a poète maudit in earthly exile)
Self-Releae

Wings of an Angel

“In My Darkest Dreams (night diary of a poète maudit in earthly exile)”

For An Anonymous Genius (The Breath Of Life, Carnal Annihilation And Miraculous Resurrection Of The Job Of Art)”).
En este ultimo trabajo usa únicamente drones y sonidos abstractos que generan atmósferas realmente oscuras, intensas y profundas: “Diría que el sonido, en su más pura ausencia de forma, es probablemente la expresión más espiritual de lo divino…” (Intangible23)

“Insula in Remix”

Insula in albis
circumdederunt per glaciem maris,
infesta, in fine mundi.

Terra Australis, Terra Incognita.
Ventus magis placent.
Orate mare ut revertar in patriam.

(Island of while
surrounded by sea ice.
Hostile, at the end of the world.

Southern earth, unknown land.
Wind in favor.
We pray to the sea to return us home).

With these words pronounced in Latin(1) by our friend and colleague Frank Benkho “Insula in Remix” begins, a collection of remixes and versions of the pieces that gave form to our disc “Insula in albis” (Pueblo Nuevo/Eolo, 2013). In a way, it is the final link of a work that started nearly two years ago, when we traveled with the support of the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) to a secluded place located on the borders of civilization: King George Island (South Shetlands, Antarctica). There we collected images and sounds, both natural and human in origin, in an environment in which the majestic landscapes contrast with the technology used to resist the onslaught of the elements. We met people of different nations and cultures, sharing together in this environment of water, stone, ice, and rusted metal.

We presented “Insula in albis” in the Teatro Municipal “José Bohr” in Punta Arenas in the Celebration of 50 years of the Chilean Antarctic Institute. At the beginning of 2014 we managed to return to King George Island and we presented the work before the personnel of the “Eduardo Frei” base, in what was our second recital in Antarctica. After having shown it in Buenos Aires and Santiago, we decided to invite other musicians to reinterpret our discoveries, to make them their own and give them new forms in their own style. We appreciate the time and effort each one invested in realizing their contributions. We hope that we manage to transmit once again to all those who follow our trajectory the excitement we feel when we put our feet on this island, where people live together in a way that the rest of the world should imitate. “Insula in Remix” is available here, to help you set forth on a sonic flight towards the Continent of Light.

.Zigo – Drupas Migrantes

pn088

.Zigo

“Drupas Migrantes”

.Zigo has an apocalyptic “Blade Runner” world in his sonic conception. He swings comfortably between sulfuric sunrises, romantic evenings to the cyberpunk distopians.

This work, like his others; and many other things that I have enjoyed in concert, has its own peculiar character, the detail that blows the mind and that eccentricity carries it to work every detail like a careless tide, but he has the control, so many years on the path have not made him aloof, and he applies every consciousness, every experience.

It shows in the quality of the sound and in the domain of reaching the very edge of the break, without breaking.

Tiny pearls invade each of the tracks, and yes, he is one of the masters in this sense, in showing us that heavy noise with delicate sonic touches, that are not lost, on the contrary, he makes them be noticed.

In “Drupas migrantes” we hear from the beginning with “Zaxsibulan”, mantric drones that invade, and leave us almost perplexed to wait any longer.

We pass through quasi organic states like those in “Drupa” and “Ralokhao”, cyber-robotic moments like “Aeasxoolar” and “Drirl” to descend to the shamanic poetry of “Xeticanteral”.

Can this work be classified? It cannot – you can only listen and enjoy- qualifications do not count, just immerse yourself or be engulfed by it.

.Zigo without a doubt “is” in past, present and he shows the future, and all this comes together for capture us to hear.

———————
